Sunday News #29

Sunday Post and Sunday Salon are blog news memes hosted at Caffeinated Reviewer and Reader Buzz, respectively. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week on your blog, and showcase books and other things.
Feeling

I’m feeling a couple of emotions today. First, I’m feeling very anxious because my sweet 19-year-old Dax has a severe tooth infection. She’s scheduled to have it pulled on Wednesday. They have to put her under and we’re worried about her kidneys. Hopefully, she’ll come out of it just fine and start feeling a lot better.

I’m also feeling exhausted. It’s been a busy week full of unpacking, organizing, and other stuff. Fortunately, Corey and I are almost done. Unpacking’s taking as long as it has because we’re getting rid of things we don’t want/need anymore and it’s a time consuming project.

Blogging

This week on the blog:

Reading

I actually read a little bit this week. I started THE DRESS OF VIOLET TAFFETA by Tessa Arlen. I’m not far enough into it to decide what I think yet, but I think I’ll enjoy it.

Listening

I’ve been listening to my “Faves” playlist this week. It’s been fun getting back to some of my favorite songs since I’ve specifically been listening to 80s music the past few weeks.

I love songs written by The Beatles AND I don’t like most of the original versions that are actually sung by them. Blasphemy, I know. I love The Beatles’ version of “Come Together,” “Here Comes the Sun,” “Eleanor Rigby,” and “Strawberry Fields.” For every other song they wrote, I like cover versions better.

I recently added a cover of “Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da” to my playlist and I really love it. It’s by Gabriela Bee.

Watching

Corey and I finished STRANGER THINGS! Holy crap! Season 5’s going to be a doozy.

We also finally watched the new Scream movie that came out in January. It’s also entitled SCREAM, but it’s really SCREAM 5. I love the franchise and this one was a fun addition. View Spoiler »

Loving

Back in May, I participated in Wyrd & Wonder. I signed up for the giveaways and won a couple. One of the things I won was a handmade pride friendship bracelet. It was made by @maelia_cybele on Instagram. She let me pick the pattern and shipped it all the way from France. Anyway, I got it in the mail yesterday and I absolutely love it.

Wanting Anticipating

I got everything worked out with my primary care physician and LASIK surgeon. I’m now anticipating the surgery, which is set for this coming Tuesday.

Needing Hoping

I hope Dax’s and my surgery go well. I also hope the result of my LASIK will be everything I want it to be.

How was your week? Anything exciting happen?

Good luck with your lasik surgery! I’ve known a number of people who have had it down and they all had a positive experience. I can imagine you’ll be glad when it’s over though. Ob-la-di is one of my favorite Beatles’ songs so I will have to listen to the cover. Have a wonderful week!

    😱😱😱 LOL.

    That bracelet is neat!

Good luck with your surgery! I hope it won’t get delayed YET AGAIN and you’ll have a speedy recovery – so you’ll be able to read and watch movies and series to your heart’s content 👍.

Ha ha. I know, right? My musician brother-in-law just rolls his eyes when I find new covers to listen to.

Thanks! 😀 I really love how the bracelet turned out.

Thank you for the well wishes on my surgery. I don’t think it’ll be delayed again. Phew.

I hope your lasik surgery goes well! Do they do both eyes at the same time? How is the unpacking going? I also had a low reading week and am exhausted (mine is from traveling and being around people 24/7 right now). Have a great week!

Thanks, Cindy! 😀 Yes, they are doing both eyes at the same time. I chose not to do monovision so it’d help my distance and up-close vision. I’ve opted to wear reading glasses instead. We won’t really know, though, if I need reading glasses anymore until after the surgery.

I didn’t really talk about unpacking. I added it in after I saw your questions. 🙂 Unpacking is going really well and we’re almost done. Woot woot!

I’m sorry you’ve had such an exhausting week too. It’s fun to be around people, but sometimes you need a rest. I hope you get one!

I had a much different reaction to Scream than you. I love the franchise, and I think the only reason I’ll be back for more is Hayden Panettiere. I love that friendship bracelet!

I understand. My husband wasn’t a huge fan of it either. I haven’t really see very things with Hayden Panettiere in them so she’s not a huge draw for me. Maybe, she’ll become one for me after seeing the next movie. 😀

That’s a beautiful bracelet! I hope your surgery Tuesday goes off without a hitch and fixes your eyes. I wish I’d had more done when I had cataract surgery but with my astigmatism, it was hard to tip the lens as it was. It did improve my vision but didn’t correct it completely.

Thank you, Margaret! 😀 I’m glad you surgery improved your vision some. I have a slight astigmatism in one eye, but it’s not bad enough for them not to do the surgery.

I’m noticing I have to actually start using reading glasses sometimes. I always thought about LASIK surgery but now they say they’d do one eye near and one far and that freaks me out too much! I need to go read your Because of Harry Potter post. I am so glad there is a marathon on SyFy this weekend. I mean I own them all on DVD, but there’s just something about watching it on tv, lol. Have a great week!

I understand. I have bifocals (progressive lenses) to help with reading. The surgeon said I could do monovision (only one eye) so I wouldn’t need any corrective lenses afterward. My friend actually did that and it worked great for her. I think it would be hard to get used to so I’m opting to do what my mom did, which is correct the distance vision and use reading glasses for the up-close vision.

I love 80’s music but feel the same way about The Beatles. I like some of their songs but am not a HUGE fan, but then sometimes a cover works. One thing I’ve noticed is I tend to like Paul Mccartney and Wings’ stuff a little more. Maybe I just like the 70’s vibe more than 60’s…

    Good luck Tuesday!

I feel so validated, lol. My husband and musician brother-in-law think I’m crazy for not liking the originals. 🤷🏻

Right now, all my husband listens to is 60s music. Even though we were both born in the 70s, he grew up listening to music from the 60s because of his dad. It’s his favorite genre. That’s probably why he thinks I’m crazy about my views on The Beatles. 😂

We’ve been here for almost three years and we still have boxes to unpack and probably throw away a lot of stuff. We really need to get organized about this. It’s great that you guys are getting it done. I’m halfway through season 4 of Stranger Things. What a weird show! LOL

Hope you have a great week!

We’ve done that many times in our marriage. This was our 12th move together and every other move, we never fully unpacked, lol.

Stranger Things is weird, lol. I love it, though! 😀

Kudos for weeding out as you unpack. Even though it’s more time consuming, it’s better in the long run. I like that cover of Ob-La-Di. Never heard of the singer but she has a sweet voice. The Scream franchise is fun but I’m behind a movie or two. Hope the Lasik procedure goes well!
