Sunday News #49

Sunday Post and Sunday Salon are blog news memes hosted at Caffeinated Reviewer and Reader Buzz, respectively. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week on your blog, and showcase books and other things.
Feeling

I’ve been feeling under the weather this week with a cold or the flu. Fortunately, I can tell I’m getting better so, hopefully, I’ll be good as new in a day or so.

Blogging

I had a really good blogging week, even though I accidentally closed my comments on my Mini Reviews. I still have a couple of yearend posts scheduled to drop this coming week.

Here’s what I posted this week:

Reading

I’m still in the middle of rereading THE STAR SCROLL by Melanie Rawn, and I made a little bit of progress on the BALLAD OF SONGBIRDS AND SNAKES audiobook.

Listening

I honestly haven’t listened to much music this week because I’ve been trying to get all my end of year posts scheduled. I’ve listened to the GAME OF THRONES opening sequence a lot thanks to bingeing it with Corey so I thought I’d share it just in case you haven’t heard it.

Watching

Corey and I finished bingeing GAME OF THRONES on Friday. What a crazy ride! I loved the world building, character development, and political intrigue. My three favorite characters were Tyrion Lannister, Jon Snow, and Arya Stark. I hated watching all the animal deaths and I think a lot of the nudity wasn’t necessary. As far as the last season goes, I can understand why fans hated it as much as they did. I didn’t like everything that happened, such as View Spoiler », but I thought it was a fitting end to the series.

Loving

I love Super Mario Bros. Wonder. Corey gave it to me for Christmas and I’ve really enjoyed playing it this week.

Wanting

I want to dust and reorganize my bookshelves this week. I just need to muster up the energy.

Needing

I need to figure out how to spend my time. When I’m idle, SAD grips me stronger. As long as I have something to do (and actually do it) or someone to spend time with, then I can usually stave off the seasonal depression.

How was your week? Anything exciting happen?

    Happy New Year! I hope you’re feeling better. I can’t believe we’re starting 2024 tomorrow…

Game of THrones- I always liked Arya and Jon too. They were my faves in the books and on the show.

I haven’t found anything binge worthy on TV for quite a while. I think I would find GoT too disturbing. Hope you’re feeling much better! I wondered how to comment on that post and couldn’t figure out a way. Now I know why. 🙂

I totally get it. The last thing Corey and I binged was Killing Eve. It was pretty good. We don’t binge shows often. We mostly watch movies together. And, GoT is disturbing. I had to look away quite a lot.

Hope you are continuing to feel better! I love rearranging my bookshelves, but just don’t have a lot of time. I should do it and get rid of some books, I should definitely dust, lol. I did get a new bookcase for Christmas though, so did a tiny bit of rearranging on my autographed books shelves. You reminded me I might start rewatching Game of Thrones at some point. Happy New Year!

Thank you so much! 😀 I love rearranging and organizing them as well. It just takes a lot of effort so I have to be up for it, lol. Congrats on the new bookcase for Christmas! That’s always an exciting gift.

My kiddos love Super Mario Bros Wonder. It is SO different from the original (I’ve played it a little bit). I am with you, I need to be more intentional with planning my time or SAD hits, and then I don’t want to do anything. I have been meaning to do my schedule all weekend but haven’t gotten to it yet. Happy New Year!

I know, right?! I love all of Mario Wonder’s little quirks. It’s one of the best games I’ve played this year.

I’m glad we have a defense against SAD. I always dread this time of year, but I’ve started to look forward to the things I do to keep busy. 😀

We got Super Mario Bros. Wonder for Christmas and we have a family game time planned for later today. And I was just writing in my journal about how I need to stay busy during these gray days or else I just don’t feel good mentally. Sending you busyness and sunshine.

Oh that’s fun! 😀 I’ve tried to get my husband to play with me but he’s not really a gamer. He likes Mario Kart and that’s about it.

Hope you can stay busy as well! And, hopefully, the weather will listen and give us enough sunshine to cope with the other days.

You finished GoT fast!! I’m so glad you enjoyed it. I’m not completely happy with how they ended it, but I can’t hate the show because I loved so much of it, and the characters. The actors who portray them did such a great job! Tyrion, Arya, and Jon are my favorites too!

Yeah, we did go through it very fast. Although, the last two seasons are shorter. And, I totally understand not being able to hate it because of all there is to love about it. 😀

Your thoughts on GoT are so similar to mine. I binged it, too, but a while back. So sorry to see that you’ve been a bit under the weather. Sending lots of positive vibes your way for a speedy return to normal!

Oh fun! 😀 I really love all the quirks that are part of the game. And, yes, the animal deaths were the worst! I always had to turn away and yell at the screen when something happened to one of them. 🙁 Happy New Year!

I love your blog changes, its so adorable! I loved the plot of Game of thrones, but the gore scenes and sex scenes were overkill in my opinion. Jon Snow is my favorite character! Have you read Kristen Ashleys reimagining with Golden Dynasty? Its basically if Khal Drago had never died. If you can handle a non consent scene in the beginning, I think you would enjoy it. Not admitting Jason Mamoa is who I imagine in that book haha

I am very big on keeping busy too! I have suffered from depression, and honestly keeping busy helps so much and reading romance really keeps me happy too.

Thank you so much! 😀 It took a while, but I love the changes too.

Oooh. That sounds very interesting. It’s definitely something to think about. I’ll definitely add it to my TBR. Thanks for the recommendation!

I totally agree about the gore and sex. I get that if this story took place during the Tudor era, that sex and violence would be the main topic as well. But, I think they couldn’t toned it down a bit.

Romance stories are definitely a great way to weather through SAD. 😀
