Sunday News #55
Feeling
I’m still feeling a little bit dizzy and now nauseated because of the compounded antibiotic I’m on for my mega sinus infection. I can tell it’s working because I’m not as congested as I have been, so that’s something to be grateful for.
Blogging
Here’s what I posted on the blog this week:
Reading
I haven’t made any progress on THIS SPELLS LOVE by Kate Robb this week. I can’t read when I’m nauseated and dizzy.
I did finish listening to THE HUNGER GAMES audiobook and I’ve started the CATCHING FIRE audiobook. It’s been nice to relax and listen to both of these while I’ve been sick.
I haven’t made any progress on THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO by Alexandre Dumas. Before I started feeling super dizzy and nauseated, I tried to read it but it started to put me to sleep. (Please don’t hate me.) I decided to check out the audiobook and I like it a lot better so I’ve switched over to it. It’s also the unabridged audio to boot. I probably won’t finish by the end of February since it’s 52 hours long. I’ll keep at it, though.
Listening
I haven’t really listened to any music this week. But I did watch the new WEST SIDE STORY on Disney+ this week. Here’s one of my favorite songs from both movies. Which one do you like better? Personally, I like the new one better. Sacrilege, I know.
Watching
Corey and I are still watching THE TUDORS. We’ve only watched a couple of episodes in season 2 so we haven’t made much progress this week.
We watched THE BALLAD OF SONGBIRDS AND SNAKES again because I wanted to see it after reading the book. And, since I finished listening to THE HUNGER GAMES audio, we also watched the movie. I love watching the movies right after rereading the books.
We also checked out the new Mark Wahlberg movie on Apple TV+. It’s called THE FAMILY PLAN. It was a lot of fun. I enjoyed it a lot. In one scene Wahlberg and Michelle Monaghan rap along to “Ice Ice Baby” by Vanilla Ice and it was pretty cool to see Wahlberg rap again. I was sad they didn’t play any of his music back from the day, lol.
Loving
I think there’s never a time I love my husband more than when I’m sick. Corey’s always so good about taking care of me. He makes me food, gets me drinks, goes to the store to pick up my prescriptions, etc. He’s a good guy.
Wanting
I want to see ARGYLE in the theater. Hopefully, Corey and I don’t miss it because I’m sick.
Needing
I need to be more careful when I warm up the water for my sinus rinses. Friday night I accidentally heated the water too much and didn’t realize it until I shot it up my nostril. It was one of the most painful things I’ve ever experienced in my life. I felt like the left side of my face was on fire and the nerves in my top teeth were screaming at me. Fortunately, I didn’t burn myself too badly as the pain went away about 10 minutes later.
P.S. I may not respond to comments today. It may not be until a little later in the week since I’m not feeling well. Thanks for your understanding.
How was your week? Anything exciting happen?
OUCH! That too warm water must have hurt so bad! Sending healing vibes for this week!
Thanks, Sophie! 😀 Yeah, it sucked, lol. I haven’t done it a second time, thankfully. I’m erring on the side of being cold, lol.
It’s frustrating when the cure for the health problem causes additional health problems, I think. I’m sending good thoughts and prayers for complete healing!
It’s even worse when your health issues cause you to be unable to read! More good thoughts and prayers!
Thanks, Deb! 😀 Luckily, I’ve embraced audio books, lol, which has definitely helped.
I hope you feel better soon!
Thanks, AJ! 😀
Oh no! That hot water up the nose had to be painful! I’m sorry you’re still feeling sick and I hate when I get that way so that I can’t read. I hope you get to feeling better soon. I got the stuffed up head and sore throat this past week myself. Ugh. Here’s hoping it’s a better week for you!

Thanks, Lisa! 😀 It really was painful. I haven’t done it again, thankfully. I’m sorry you’re not feeling all that well either. I hope you feel better soon.
I haven’t had a chance to look up the results of the Super Bowl yet. I hope the Chiefs won for you.
I hope you’re feeling better soon! I’m glad that audiobooks are working for you at this stage.
Thanks, Joy! 😀 I’m so glad I’ve embrace audiobooks, lol.
I am sorry you still aren’t feeling well. Let’s hope those antibiotics kick in soon!
I also quite enjoyed The Family Plan and loved the Ice Ice Baby rapping scene.
Thank you, Helen! 😀 I’ve noticed that I’m not quite as congested so that’s a good sign.
Ha! I’m glad you enjoyed that scene and THE FAMILY PLAN too. 😀
52 hours! That’s a lot of hours.
Right?! After I listen to MOCKINGJAY again, my primary audio book focus will be on THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO. It’s probably going to take me a few months to get it done, lol.
Oh boy, I hope you are feeling better soon. And, 52 hours, no thanks! I start doubting I will finish them if they are over 12 hours, LOL!
Thanks, Cindy! 😀 And, yeah, 52 hours is a lot. After I listen to MOCKINGJAY again, my primary audio book focus will be on THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO. It’s probably going to take me a few months to get it done, lol.
Happy, happy, happy, happy, HAPPY! I’m sorry you’re not feeling well, but I’m so happy that you’re reading the unabridged Count of Monte Cristo!!!!! I’m totally gonna stalk you for your thoughts as you read, no pressure! Haha!
Lol. I knew you’d be pleased to know I’ve switched to the unabridged version. I haven’t focused on listening to it yet as I’m still in the middle of my reread of The Hunger Games trilogy. After I listen to MOCKINGJAY, though, I’ll focus on THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO. It’s probably going to take me a few months to get it done, lol.
Get better, Jenni! There is almost nothing I hate worse than being dizzy and nauseated. It’s so debilitating! I need to find some movies to see because I love going to the cinema for a matinee and then out for a bite after.
Thank you, Margaret! 😀 I agree. I think the only thing I hate worse than being dizzy and nauseated is being congested. I hate not being able to breathe properly, especially when I’m sleeping.
Corey and I used the go to the theater two or three times a month before the pandemic. We don’t seem to go as often anymore. There just don’t seem to be enough good movies to draw us in. A lot of the movies we want to watch are available streaming and it’s easier just to stay home.
I’ve been wanting to try Count of Monte cristo but it’s humongous. I hope you’re feeling better soon!
Thanks, Greg! 😀 It is humongous and very daunting. It’ll probably take me months to finish it, lol.
Yikes, the too-hot sinus rinse must have been awful!! Hope you feel better soon.
Thanks, JoAnn! 😀 Yeah, it was not fun. Thankfully, I haven’t done it again. I’m erring more on the side of too cold now than too hot, lol.
Oooof, I struggle that way with antibiotics too. The only way to manage is to make sure I don’t have an empty stomach before I take it (though with some antibiotics that’s advised against). Hope it works, at least, and helps you kick the infection for good!
Thanks, Nicky! 😀 Normally, I take antibiotics with food as well (unless of course I’m not supposed to). Unfortunately, eating before I do my sinus rinse hasn’t seem to helped. It must be all the water and meds sloshing around in my head that’s causing the dizziness and nausea. 🙁
I am glad your congestion seems to be getting better. Hopefully you will be feeling completely better soon. I am glad you have been able to enjoy audiobooks, even while sick. I like both of the West Side Story movies. The original was my dad’s favorite musical and it will always have a special place in my heart. I hope you have a good week! Take care.
Thank you so much! 😀 My parents also loved the original West Side Story movie. It wasn’t their favorite, but I remember growing up watching it with them. It’s one of the reasons I decided to watch the new one.
I hope you can feel better and go back to enjoying your books soon! (spoiler: I’ve never read The Count of Montecristo – kudos to you for at least trying!).
Corey sounds like an angel. You’ve been blessed.
Thank you, Roberta! 😀 I am blessed. He’s a great guy.
