Sunday News #52

Sunday Post and Sunday Salon are blog news memes hosted at Caffeinated Reviewer and Reader Buzz, respectively. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week on your blog, and showcase books and other things.
Feeling

I’m feeling excited. I signed up for a 15-week writing workshop that starts on Tuesday. I hope it’s a good one and I like the teacher and projects.

Blogging

Here’s what I posted on the blog this week:

Reading

I actually finished reading REMARKABLY BRIGHT CREATURES by Shelby Van Pelt on Monday instead of Sunday. I started BOOK LOVERS by Emily Henry yesterday.

I’ve had a lot of time to listen to THE BALLAD OF SONGBIRDS AND SNAKES audiobook this week and I’ve made quite a bit of progress on it.

Listening

I’ve been listening to “I Want to Know What Love Is” this week, not by choice. Don’t get me wrong. I really like the song. It’s just been playing in my head on a non-stop loop. I can’t seem to shake it no matter what I do.

Watching

Corey and I started watching Hulu’s new DEATH AND OTHER DETAILS with Mandy Patinkin and Violett Beane. So far, we really like it. I can’t wait for a new episode tomorrow night.

I started watching the new season of Kids Baking Championship on Discovery+. It’s one of my yearly favorites. As of now, I don’t have a favorite kid.

Loving

I love my book club. We had a really great discussion surrounding REMARKABLY BRIGHT CREATURES. I’ll be posting a spoiler-free recap of our discussion tomorrow.

Wanting

I want some Ghirardelli peppermint bark it’s seasonal and no longer available. #firstworldproblems

Needing

I need to go grocery shopping this week. It’s been a while and we’re running low on food. I don’t know why Corey and I wait so long between shopping runs, lol.

How was your week? Anything exciting happen?

Oh I remember that Foreigner song. Wow, he’s so young there. They’re still touring but I’m not sure if any of the original member are there…

    Good luck with the workshop!

I didn’t realize Foreigner was still touring. That’s really cool. I don’t think I know most of their music. I might. I’m not as adept at remembering song titles and bands. Thankfully, Google helps a lot because I can find music by searching a part of the lyrics. 😀

All those great peppermint-chocolate treats really SHOULD be available all year. I still have one box of peppermint Jo-Jos waiting for me (at least I think I do). Then it’s wait until next November.

Right?! I don’t know why they’re only around for December festivities. Lucky you for still having a box of peppermint Jo-Jos. That’s almost as good (for me anyway) as when I realize I still have a box of Thin Mints left. Lol.

Thanks, Joy! 😀 I hope I like it too. It’s lead by Maleah Day Warner. She’s an author. I’ve never heard about her, though. I should probably look up her works.

Thanks, AJ! 😀 I’ve wanted to do more writing, but I’ve avoided doing it because I feel like I lack in different areas. Maybe this experience will help me learn to let go.

I opted out of writing classes this semester and I decided to try a drawing class (my first class is tomorrow). Sending good thoughts that your writing class is excellent.

So glad you had a good discussion of Remarkably Bright Creatures. Our book club discussion for the same book this week was excellent, too!

Thanks, Deb! That’s cool you’re taking an art class. I hope you enjoy it. 😀

I’m so glad your discussion about REMARKABLY BRIGHT CREATURES as was good one. It’s such a great book to discuss.

I went and saw the movie Anyone But You last week and now the song Unwritten by Natasha Bedingfield has been stuck in my head all week, lol. The writing workshop sounds great! I keep thinking I’d like to take a creative writing class or something like that. Might inspire me to get back to my writing. Have a great week!

I want to see Anyone But You. Corey and I almost saw it a couple of weeks ago. I hope you enjoyed it despite getting “Unwritten” stuck in your head. I really hate when that happens.

Thanks so much! 😀 I’m really looking forward to the class. I hope it helps me let go a bit and really find my voice.

Ooo, a nice long writing workshop, I hope you have a great experience! We are watching Death and Other Details too, I love the aesthetic. It’s funny to me that the head of security looks like he belongs on the cover of a really spicy romance novel. Tuesday, my first book is being released, that’s my excitement for the upcoming week!

Yeah, I’m really excited about it. I hope it helps me find my voice and let go of the rigidness I have in my writing.

Lol to the security guy. I totally get that vibe too.

Congrats on the release of her your first book on Tuesday! That’s so exciting! 😀

Oooh, I’m so excited for you for the writing workshop too! I hope you enjoy it very much and that you get something great out of it! I love that you’ve got “I Wanna Know What Love Is” as an earworm, not by choice, and now you’re foisting the earworm on us too. I’m gonna have the song stuck in my head for the rest of the day! Not by choice! I hope you enjoy Book Lovers!

Thanks, Haze! 😀 I hope it helps me find my voice and let go of the rigidity in my writing. If I can do those two things, I’ll call it a win.

Ha ha. Sorry about setting my ear worm on all of you, lol.

I had book club this week too! We had a great time. I was supposed to do grocery pick-up yesterday, but didn’t end up planning it because we had so much snow I wasn’t sure if we would be able to get there. I will have to do it on Wednesday. Have a great week!

Awesome! 😀 It seems to be the week for book club as a few mentioned the same above. 😀 I need to put through an order for grocery pickup so we have some food in the house, lol. Good luck with yours!

Ahhh Foreigner. Saw them in concert a few times. But yah, ear worms like that can be annoying.

Mandy Patinkin! I follow him and his wife on TikTok. So funny when their son or whoever it is has them play a guessing game, like Name This Tune or whatever.

Kids Baking Championship…is that the one that Valerie Bertinelli just posted she’s super sad because they didn’t invite her back due to budget cuts?

I didn’t know Mandy Patinkin and his wife had a TikTok until my husband showed it to me this week. It looks like a lot of fun. 😀

I don’t know. Valerie’s hosting with Duff like usual. Maybe this is her last season. That will be sad if it is.
