Sunday News #47
I’m finally starting to feel more like myself again. I thought I was ready to blog in February. However, due to some lingering symptoms from the antibiotics I was taking, I just didn’t feel up to doing much. Fortunately, I no longer need to take the antibiotics and I’m feeling less nauseated, dizzy, and headachy.
Sorry I didn’t comment on everyone’s posts last time. I really want to read and comment on other blogs. I’m just trying to get back in the habit now that I’m feeling better. Please bear with me.
I haven’t blogged since February 5 so nothing to report.
I finally read something this past week! I read THE IT GIRL by Ruth Ware and I’ll be posting my review tomorrow. I’m going to start reading THE LAST ANNIVERSARY by Liane Moriarty some time today.
I also finally finished listening to the ECLIPSE audiobook. I started listening to it last November. However, since I usually listen to audiobooks in my car and I didn’t really get out for while, it took me a while to finish.
I honestly haven’t listened to a lot of music this week because I focused on listening to the ECLIPSE audiobook. I did, however, listen to “Grace Kelly.” I first listened to the chorus sung by Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell. Afterward, I listened to the original full song by MIKA because I’d never heard it before.
Corey and I are currently watching THE LAST OF US on HBO Max. We’re really enjoying the premise and characters. We also love the actors. We have a joke that Pedro Pascal likes to be in roles where he has to protect an orphan and help get them to wherever they need to go. LOL.
We’re also currently watching season 3 of STAR TREK: PICARD on Paramount+ and we love it so far. It’s fun to see the crew from The Next Generation in their different roles. I’m really excited to see where this season takes us!
We finally binged WEDNESDAY on Netflix. It was amazing! Jenna Ortega was perfect as Wednesday. I also loved her roommate at Nevermore. I also didn’t realize how tall Gwendolyn Christie is! We can’t wait for season 2.
We also saw the new Ant-Man movie, ANT-MAN AND THE WASP: QUANTUMANIA a couple of weeks ago when it first came out. I really enjoyed it despite its plot holes, which I didn’t notice while watching. Corey didn’t like it very much. He had way too many questions because of its plot holes. My favorite part was the second end credits scene, lol. If you’ve seen it, you can probably guess why.
I started bingeing THE VAMPIRE DIARIES this past week. I’ve always wanted to watch the series. I like it so far. I’m a couple of episodes into the second season. I really love the exploration of vampiric and supernatural lore. The only thing I could do without is the stupid love triangle. Because I’m required by love triangle law to pick a team *rolls eyes*, I guess I’m Team Damon. I love his character and I love that he’s portrayed by Ian Somerhalder.
I love The Fast and the Furious movie series. It’s one of my favorites, aka guilty pleasures. I know they’re way over-the-top and unbelievable, but I still love them, especially once they turned into heist movies.
The newest movie comes out in May and it looks like all the characters are returning for this one, even Brian (Paul Walker’s character). I’m very curious how they’re going to pull that off since Walker died nearly 10 years ago. One of my best friends loves the movies too so we started rewatching all the movies.
I want the two new TWILIGHT books announced by Stephenie Meyer in February to come out sooner rather than later. I’m really excited she wants to focus on characters other than the Cullens and wolves. I can’t wait to see what comes of this announcement. I also hope this means Meyer will finally return to THE HOST world since she originally planned to make it a trilogy.
I need to get some of my crocheting and knitting projects finished. My friend and I are opening an Etsy store. We both love making amigurumi (crocheted stuffed toys), afghans, beanies, and other things. We’ve always wanted to see if we can make money selling them on Etsy so we’re going to try. I’ll share a link to the store when it’s officially open.
How was your week? Anything exciting happen?
I am happy to see you are feeling better! And I knew of Mika’s rendering but Ryan Gosling and Will Ferell bluffed me here!!
Thanks, Sophie! 😀 I’m glad I could surprise you with Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell. LOL.
Glad you are feeling better and getting so active again.
Have a great week.
Thanks, Harvee! 😀 I hope you have a great week too!
How exciting! Congrats on your Etsy store!
I am glad that you are feeling better. And Vampire Diaries! We loved that show – I felt like I never knew what was coming. And I am Team Damon too, but Alaric is my favorite.
Thanks, Erin! 😀 My friend and I are really excited about the store. We can’t wait to do its grand opening.
I can see why Alaric is your favorite. From what I’ve seen of him so far, he’s a great character. 😀
I’m glad you are feeling better. It’s hard to do anything when you don’t feel well.
Congratulations on starting an Etsy shop. It sounds delightful.
So many people love the Stephanie Meyer books. I hope her new books are all that you wish for.
Thank you, Deb! 😀
My friend and I are really excited about your shop. We can’t wait until our grand opening.
Thanks! I know Stephenie Meyer isn’t for everyone and that’s fine. She helped get me reading so I’ll always be grateful to her. Even though her writing isn’t the best, I love her storytelling ability. I hope the new books don’t disappoint. 😀
Glad you’re feeling better! Congratulations on starting your Etsy Shop, I hope it’s a huge success!
Thanks, Vicki! 😀 We’re both really excited about out shop. We hope others are too.
So glad you’re feeling better and glad that you were able to read a couple books. Good luck on the ETSY shop, it’s a challenging endeavor. I just relearned to crochet after over 20 years away from it and am working on a throw. It’s fun to have something to do with my hands while watching TV. It doesn’t feel like such a waste of time. 🙂
Terrie @ Bookshelf Journeys
Thank you, Terrie! 😀 I’m glad I’ve been reading this week too. I’ve missed it.
That’s awesome that you’re crocheting again. I love doing throws. And, I completely agree about crocheting or knitting while watching TV. I love keeping my hands busy. I feel lest anxious because of it. 😀
Ah I love MIKA! Did you know we named our kitty after him? I can’t remember if you knew or not…
I knew you named your cat after a musician, but I didn’t know it was this MIKA. Awesome! 😀 I’m glad I know her namesake now, lol.
I somehow missed Midnight Sun and didn’t know MORE Twilight books were coming out. I loved the original books but I am seeing mixed reviews on Midnight Sun. Did you read it? What did you think? I have The Host on my bookshelves but have not read it either…exciting news about the Etsy store, good luck!
I loved MIDNIGHT SUN. Being in Edward’s head was truly enlightening. I loved learning more about him and the Cullens; the vampiric world; the Forks humans; Jacob; Charlie and Renée; and James, Victoria, and Laurent. I also loved knowing all the things Edward said to Bella that she couldn’t hear and knowing his reasons behind all his decisions and actions. It shed so much light on New Moon.
Other people didn’t like MIDNIGHT SUN because they felt it intensified Edward’s stalker behavior and Bella and Edward’s unhealthy relationship. Parents were especially concerned because of it not being a good role model for a healthy relationship for their teenagers. None of that stuff bothers me. Yes, I know their relationship is unhealthy AND it’s fiction. She’s in a relationship with a vampire! Of course it’s unhealthy.
OMG I love amigurumi!!!!! Can’t wait to see what pops up in your Etsy shop!!!!
Yay! 😀 I can’t wait to share what I’m making and what’s in our store! 😀
Glad you’re feeling better! And I really want to see Ant Man. Now you have me curious about the end scenes. I miught take a peek.
Thanks, Greg! 😀 I hope you like Ant-Man. I know a lot of people didn’t. I hope you enjoy the end scene, though, if you sneak peek it.
I am glad you are off the antibiotics finally and feeling better. It can take a while to get back into the swing of things, I know. I hope you enjoyed THE IT GIRL. I have read a few Ruth Ware books, but not that one. I’m glad I am not the only one who drags out audiobooks–more for lack of opportunity than anything else. Wednesday is great, isn’t it? I can’t wait till the second season too! I really liked Vampire Diaries (the television show–I didn’t like the book) and hope you enjoy it. I’m with you about The Fast and the Furious. Seeing some of those stunts and cinematography is impressive on its own, even as over the top as the movies are.
I hope you have a good week and month of March. Take care!
Thank you! I am too, lol. And, I really think I’ll be able to get back into the swing of things this time. 😀
If you read THE IT GIRL, I hope you enjoy it. And, yes, my audiobooks are always dragged out because of lack of opportunity. I very rarely listen to them because of that, lol. Yes, I loved the cleverness of Wednesday so much and Jenna Ortega was fantastic in that role. I’ve never read Vampire Diaries, but I am enjoying the tv show. I might give the books try someday. I’m so happy to hear that you love The Fast and the Furious movies. 😀
I hope you have a great week and month as well!
I’m so happy you’re feeling better! It’s good to have you back in the blogging world again
Thanks, Wendy! 😀 It’s good to back! I missed everyone!
So glad to hear you’re felling better! I had no idea there were more Twilight books coming. I doubt I will read them (I enjoyed the series at the time but I’m not really interested in returning to it) but I know that will have a lot of readers happy and excited. 🙂
Thanks, Tanya! 😀 I totally understand not returning to Twilight. A lot of my friends that I met on Twilight fan boards are also done with the series. I think the only reason I’m not is that the series helped get me to read. I owe Stephenie Meyer a debt of gratitude for that. 😀
Welcome back Jenni! I’m so glad you’re feeling better.
Thank you so much, Jodie! 😀
I’m delighted that you’re feeling better! Blogging and commenting should always be secondary to that. I really want to watch “Picard” but don’t have the streaming service it requires–like for so many programs I want to watch. I liked it when TV was free.
Thank you so much, Margaret! 😀 I know, right?! The cost of all these streaming services is outrageous. The only reason we pay for most of them is that we’re co-oping with some of our family and friends. We each take turns paying and share the services through different profiles. (I know the services wouldn’t be too happy knowing this.)
I am so glad to hear that you are on the mend and feeling better. I was wondering where you had gone. Welcome back!!!
We went to our first movie since COVID in a theater this week. It felt like the most normal thing I’ve done since early 2020.
Thank you so much, Anne! 😀 I missed everyone so much. I’m glad I’m finally feeling up to reading and blogging again.
That’s so awesome that you went to a movie in the theater this week. I hope you enjoyed the movie! 😀 Going to the movies was the thing I missed the most during the pandemic. We didn’t start going again until late 2021 and it was only for things like Marvel movies. We wear masks even though no one else does. In the beginning, we’d buy our seats and the ones adjacent to us as well to give us a small buffer.
I’m glad you ‘re feeling better. You get to all the comments whenever you can/ Believe me, we all get it lol
Did you watch Spirited (the movie Reynolds and Farell were singing in)? We liked it a lot. We’ll probably let Picard come out with all the episodes and subscribe for a month to watch.
Karen @For What It’s Worth
Thanks, Karen! 😀
I did watch SPIRITED. I loved it. I didn’t realize Ryan Reynolds could sing. (I know his voice isn’t the greatest, but it’s still better than I can do, lol.) I really loved the movies take on THE CHRISTMAS CAROL. I’ll definitely watch it again next year!
I have a friend who’s going to the same with Paramount+. Corey’s so excited about the Star Trek series that he’s too impatient to wait, lol. Also, the only reason we pay for most of the streaming services is that we’re co-oping with some of our family and friends. We each take turns paying and share the services through different profiles. (I know the services wouldn’t be too happy knowing this.)
Happy to hear you’re feeling better! It is hard to be motivated to do anything when you don’t feel good.
I had no idea Meyers was releasing new Twilight books! I’m excited to hear that!
Thanks, Rachel! 😀 I decided to google Meyer this last week because I was curious and I saw that article. I’m glad I did!
I can’t wait to see the new Ant-Man movie. I’m going to wait until it’s on Disney+. I don’t care if it has plot holes. I think I’ll still enjoy it. Lol. Good luck with your Etsy shop, but most importantly have fun with it! . I used to do beading and I had an Etsy shop for several years. I closed it a few years ago because I wasn’t enjoying the business side of things. I rarely do beading nowadays. I’m too busy reading! 🙂
I don’t mind the plot holes either. I usually don’t see plot holes until someone else points them out to me, which my husband did. It didn’t affect what I thought of the movie. LOL.
I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy the business side of things with your Etsy shop. I’m hoping it’s not to bad. I mostly just want to do it as more of a hobby side business than a real money-making business. Even though you’re too busy reading, if you want to bead any time in the future, I hope you do. 😀
So glad you’re feeling better! Antibiotics mess me up though thankfully I haven’t had to have them in a little while. I normally end up taking them with Zofran and still feel all out of sorts. I have the Ruth Ware book on my TBR. I really loved her first two books but than was a bit meh on the two after that but I’ve seen great reviews of her latest books so I think I need to give her another try. The Liane Moriarty looks really good. That’s another one on my TBR. Have a great week!
Thank you, Katherine! 😀 Sometimes, I take Zofran when I’m on antibiotics too. The problem is that if I take too much, it gives me headaches so I’m damned if I do and damned if I don’t. 🙁
If you do give THE IT GIRL a try, I hope you like it. I’ll have to give Ware’s first two books a try if you liked them so much.
I loved WEDNESDAY and can’t wait for another season.
Such a great show, isn’t it?! 😀
I’m glad you’re feeling better! Your “Feeling” and “Blogging” sections could have written by me except that I wasn’t sick; I just had internet problems and other priorities. I’m finding it so freaking hard to get back in my blogging/reading groove now though.
We’re currently working on the third season of Star Trek: Discovery but I requested the second season of Picard and it’s ready to be picked up at the library. So much Star Trek! My husband may rebel.
I’m not a binger by anyone’s definition, but my definition, we binged Wednesday too. Which means we watched the whole season in a month 🙂
Good luck setting up your Etsy store!
Sorry you’ve had such a hard time with your internet. Internet problems make me crazy. Ever since we moved last June, our internet has had problems. We had Google Fiber in our old place and I miss it, lol.
I love STAR TREK: DISCOVERY. I’m anxiously looking forward to season 5. 😀 I hope you enjoy season 3 and 4. Fortunately for me, my husband adores Star Trek. He could watch it all day every day.
I understand about not bingeing a lot all at once. I used to not binge TV shows because I didn’t have the time. Now, bingeing just cuts into my reading and blogging time. I’m going to try to balance them so I can do a little of everything. 😀
I’m glad you are feeling better.
I watched a couple of episodes of Wednesday and it’s good. I have to get back to that one. I really want to see the new season of Picard. I love that it includes so many TNG actors. This should be fun.
Have a great week!
Thanks, Yvonne! 😀 I hope you like the rest of WEDNESDAY. It’s one of my favorite new shows. I hope you get to watch the new season of Picard soon. 😀
I loved The It Girl and also The Last Anniversary. Enjoy all your books, and I hope you keep feeling better.
Thanks, Laurel! 😀 I’m glad you to hear you loved THE LAST ANNIVERSARY so much. I’m a huge fan of Liane Moriarty and I’m looking forward to reading it.
Glad to hear that you are feeling better! Hope you get back to where you want to be with blogging. Have a great week!
Thank you so much, Jamie! 😀
welcome back! i’m glad you’re feeling better!
i really need to watch the last of us. it’s hard to avoid all the spoilers on twitter.
Thanks so much, Chelsea! 😀 I bet it’s hard to avoid the spoilers. When I was more active on Twitter, I watched The Walking Dead and I always had to be careful if I wasn’t caught up with the episodes.
Glad you’re feeling back to normal! I’m excited about the new Twilight books as well. I enjoyed Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell in the Christmas movie they did last year. I still go around saying Good Afternoon whenever I’m mad at someone, lol. I’m enjoying The Last of Us too! Hope you have a good week!
Thanks, Lisa! 😀 Ha ha! Good afternoon was the best part of that movie. I need to remember to say that to people who piss me off too. Thanks for the reminder.
Glad your feeling better and feel like blogging a bit!
Thanks so much, Stormi! 😀
