15 Years of Blogging & Giveaway

I posted my first post on this blog on June 23, 2007. It was about my excitement for the upcoming release of HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS. I laid out my predictions for that final installment. View Spoiler »

I can’t believe that was 15 years ago. Some years have been better than others, but I’ve really enjoyed my little corner of the internet. I debated whether I should say anything about my blogoversary since I haven’t blogged continuously the entire 15 years, and my blog now only shows posts from December 29, 2021 onward. (You can read about the whys if you’re interested.)

Blogging’s very cathartic for me. I love talking to people about the things I enjoy doing, especially reading and books. I love the creativity I get to express through blogging. And, I love all the friends I’ve made around the blogosphere. I actually met a lot of my IRL friends at different book events for bloggers in Utah. (There were a lot of us at one time. Now, I’m one of only a handful remaining.) I also have many online friends I’ve met through blogging, and I hope I can meet them IRL someday.

To celebrate my blogoversary, I’m hosting a giveaway for a book from The Book Depository (up to $15 value).  The giveaway will go until the end of June and I’ll announce the winner on July 4 (if my internet is up by then as I’m moving on July 1 and 2). The giveaway is open to any country The Book Depository ships.

How long have you been blogging?

I learned in DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) that life is full of dialectics, or two opposing truths. In this case, the two opposing truths are: 1) I don’t agree with JKR’s stance regarding trans people, and 2) I still love Harry Potter.

Happy Blogoversary! I agree with you about how therapeutic writing is and I also love looking back on my own and others’ posts from farther back, especially if I’m reading a new blog. I started nearly 19 years ago. The blog has seen me through many terrible and wonderful times as well as the mundane in the middle.

Thanks, Margaret! 😀 That’s really awesome that you’ve been blogging for 19 years. I had a website before my blog. I started that in 1996. 😀

Yay! Congrats! I guess that means I’ve been blogging for 15 years too! March 2007. Unless you count the year before that when I did a non book blog with Yahoo 360. LOL! Oh the good old days. 🙂

Thanks! 😀 As I was writing this post, I was thinking about your blogoversary too. I think you could probably count that year on Yahoo 360. So, 16 years! YAY! 🎉

I’m glad you were able to return to blogging! It IS therapy, and consolation, and it’s like hugging the world sometimes. I’ve been at it for almost 10 years, so I know a little about it LOL. Happy blogoversary and thank you for the giveaway!

    Hallo, Hallo Jenni,

I’m celebrating my 9th this year and next year is my 10th; both are hard to believe actually arriving so soon! lol I can’t even imagine what it would be like to be my 15th – what a wonderful moment to celebrate! Not just the feat itself but all the memories, the years of blogging and of putting your thoughts out there – as we all have those moments where we’re wondering if anyone reads our blogs or enjoys our commentaries, etc. Celebrating you today and many happy returns — may blogging remain a mainstay in your life and be as much of a joy as it was originally hereafter. Wicked congratulations!! And, happy you’ve been enjoying Wyrd And Wonder over the years, too!

Thank you so much, Jorie! 💜 That’s so awesome that you’re celebrating your 9th blogoversary this year. Congrats! 😀

Yes, I do enjoy participating in Wyrd & Wonder even if something happens to make my participation not as much as I would’ve liked it to be. 😀 Next year, I hope May won’t be as busy or crazy and I’ll be able to enjoy Wyrd & Wonder more.

Congrats and happy anniversary! I don’t have a blog, haven’t ever really. I had a Xanga back in the day but it was only to track books and then when I discovered Goodreads in 2012, I abandoned it. I enjoy other people’s blogs though! lol

Happy blogoversary, Jenni! Fifteen years is amazing. Keeping anything going that long (even off and on) is quite an accomplishment. If I were to win I would probably choose a book from Nalini Singh’s Psy-Changeling series.

Thank you, Tanya! 😀 I read part of the first book in the Psy-Changeling series. I liked the premise and I ended up putting it down because of personal reasons. I might try it again sometime.

I’m at 13 years. I can’t even tell you how happy I am that you are back. I miss everyone who leaves but there are a few bloggers I *really* miss and hope they come back and you are one of those. I always kept checking lol

I’m also glad it helps you. I’ve gone through a lot of major life upheavals since I started and I find my blogging friends help me in ways that even my real life friends can’t.

All the hugs and congratulations Jenni!

Awwww. 💜 Thanks, Karen! I missed catching up with you via blogging too. I’m glad we still had Instagram during my down time. I totally get what you’re saying about blogging friends helping you in ways IRL friends can’t. I’ve totally felt that too, especially with you. Also, congrats on 13 years. 😀
