Top Ten Tuesday #40
Favorite Books of 2022
I’m so excited for today’s prompt. I’ve been thinking about my favorite books from last year all December. I’ve decided to exclude any rereads from my list. Otherwise, almost my entire list would be old favorites instead new ones. Here are my top ten favorite books from 2022:
- The Midnight Library by Matt Haig
- Anxious People by Frederik Backman
- Dear Emmie Blue by Lia Louis
- A River Enchanted by Rebecca Ross
- Every Summer After by Carley Fortune
- The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood
- The Magnolia Palace by Fiona Davis
- Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
- Rock Paper Scissors by Alice Feeney
- Nine Perfect Strangers by Liane Moriarty
Honorable Mentions
I had quite a few 4-star reads this year. They made up most of my reading, actually. I’d be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge them.
- Some of It Was Real by Nan Fisher
- In a Holidaze by Christina Lauren
- Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco
- Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli
- The Sound of Stars by Alechia Dow
- How To: Absurd Scientific Advice for Real World Problems by Randall Munroe
- Broken (in the best possible way) by Jenny Lawson
- Dread Nation by Justina Ireland
What about you? Which books were your favorite reads from 2022? Do we have any in common?
This is such a great list – I love that you included honorable mentions because it’s really so hard to pick just ten books. We’ve got a lot of books in common, and you’ve also got a bunch on my TBR, so I may have to reorder mine and read some of those sooner than I had planned!
Thanks, Leah! 😀 It really is so hard to pick just ten when you’ve had such a great reading year. I hope you enjoy the ones you haven’t read yet when you get to them.
I think most of mine were four star books as well. I had ten clear “winners” for this challenge, which happened to be my only five star books of the year. I have seen In a Holidaze on several lists. I think I’ll have to check that one out! 🙂
That’s great that you had ten clear winners. 😀 I’m glad it made things a bit easier in pick compiling your list! 😀 I hope you enjoy IN A HOLIDAZE when you get to it!
Midnight Library and Anxious People were so good. They would have been on my list too, but I only listed books published in 2022. Great list, Jenni!
Oh, that’s cool that you only listed books published in 2022. I didn’t read enough newly published books to do that. 😀
Love so many of the books on here! In a Holidaze has become an annual re-read for me–I absolutely adore it.
Awesome! 😀 Rereading IN A HOLIDAZE each year sounds like a great idea. I might have to adopt that tradition. 😀
The Midnight Library was one of my favorite reads in 2021. And I enjoyed reading Anxious People this past year.

I’m so glad you enjoyed both of these books when you read them! 😀
I read and enjoyed The Midnight Library this year, too. And I absolutely loved The Love Hypothesis! Great list of books. 😀
Thanks! 😀 I’m glad you enjoyed THE MIDNIGHT LIBRARY and THE LOVE HYPOTHESIS. 😀
Anxious People was so good!
Right?! I loved the characters! 😀
Yay for Anxious People! I loved that one too. And Dear Emmie Blue! I loved that one so much the year I read it. So many books on your list are on my wish list or TBR shelves. You inspire me to want to read them sooner than later. Thank you for sharing!
I hope you enjoy the books on your TBR as much as I did. 😀
We don’t share any this year, but I have read a couple of yours previously: The Midnight Library, which I liked well enough, but didn’t make my favourites list when I read it last year and Stalking Jack The Ripper which again I liked but didn’t make my favourites list the year I read it (though to be fair, 2019 was a really good reading year for me and a lot of books I really enjoyed didn’t make the list because I had a lot more five star reads than I usually do!).

We all march to a different. beat of the drum, right? 😀 I’m glad you liked both even if they weren’t favorites. THE MIDNIGHT LIBRARY was a very profound reading experience for me. I felt seen like I never have before.
I’m glad you found so many great books to love in 2022! I’ve read four of these. ANXIOUS PEOPLE was a surprise hit for me since I didn’t really think Backman was the kind of author I liked. I loved the book and want to read more by him this year.
Happy TTT!

ANXIOUS PEOPLE was a surprise hit for me too. I didn’t think I’d like Backman either. I was so wrong, lol. 😀
I had a lot of great reads last year and hope for many more this year!! Have a great week, Jenni!
I hope you have a lot of great reads in 2023! 😀 I will! I hope you do too!
You had a great reading year. I haven’t read any of these, but I’ve had my eye on The Midnight Library by Matt Haig and Anxious People by Frederik Backman. Happy reading this week!
I hope you enjoy THE MIDNIGHT LIBRARY and ANXIOUS PEOPLE when you read them. 😀
While our top 10 lists don’t have any in common, I’ve read a couple of these and agree they’re quite good. Hope you have a great reading year in 2023.

I’m glad you enjoyed the book you read. 😀 I hope you have a great reading year in 2023 too!
Midnight Library reminded me to enjoy the life I have rather than spending time being annoyed at the things I don’t have. It was a comforting book.
Agreed. Me too. It was a very profound reading experience for me. I felt seen like I never have before. 😀
A great list!
Have a great week!
Thanks, Emily! 😀 You too!
