Top Ten Tuesday #40
Favorite Books of 2022
I’m so excited for today’s prompt. I’ve been thinking about my favorite books from last year all December. I’ve decided to exclude any rereads from my list. Otherwise, almost my entire list would be old favorites instead new ones. Here are my top ten favorite books from 2022:
- The Midnight Library by Matt Haig
- Anxious People by Frederik Backman
- Dear Emmie Blue by Lia Louis
- A River Enchanted by Rebecca Ross
- Every Summer After by Carley Fortune
- The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood
- The Magnolia Palace by Fiona Davis
- Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
- Rock Paper Scissors by Alice Feeney
- Nine Perfect Strangers by Liane Moriarty
Honorable Mentions
I had quite a few 4-star reads this year. They made up most of my reading, actually. I’d be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge them.
- Some of It Was Real by Nan Fisher
- In a Holidaze by Christina Lauren
- Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco
- Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli
- The Sound of Stars by Alechia Dow
- How To: Absurd Scientific Advice for Real World Problems by Randall Munroe
- Broken (in the best possible way) by Jenny Lawson
- Dread Nation by Justina Ireland
What about you? Which books were your favorite reads from 2022? Do we have any in common?
Fangirl was a fun one. It’s been a long time since I read anything by Rowell. And it’s nice to see Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda get a mention. I loved that one.
I knew you’d be happy that I included Simon on my list, even if it was just an honorable mention. 😀
Happy new year! I didn’t get round to A River Enchanted last year but I’m looking forward to it whenever to mood grans me…
Thanks, Ellie! 😀 Happy new year to you as well! I hope you enjoy A RIVER ENCHANTED when you do read it. I’m looking forward to diving in to the sequel soon-ish.
The Midnight Library has shows up in several posts I’ve seen. It’s on my list. I really must read it this year!
My Top Ten
I hope you enjoy THE MIDNIGHT LIBRARY just as much as I did. It’s such a great book! 😀
The Love Hypothesis and Anxious People have both been popular picks this week. Glad you liked them so much.

I haven’t gone blog hopping yet. I’m glad to hear that they both made other lists too. 😀
I was such a huge fan of Fangirl when it first released, mainly because I too used to write Harry Potter fanfiction and knew all about those particular obsessions. It’s been ages since I saw it on a rec list <3
That’s awesome! Simon Snow does have a lot of similarities to Harry Potter, doesn’t it? I tried to keep them separate, though, when I read her fanfic. LOL. 😀
Great list! I enjoyed a lot of those as well. I hope you get to read amazing books in 2023 as well.
Thanks, Kami! 😀 Hopefully, 2023 will be as good of a year as 2022 was reading-wise. I didn’t rate anything lower than 3 stars. That’s definitely a win! 😀
I remember reading both Fangirl and Simon vs Homo Sapiens back before I retired and loved them. Then I worked really hard to find readers for them. Such good writing!
That’s awesome that you tried to connect readers with both stories. They both have the potential of helping people feel accepted and loved. 😀
Hi there Jenni!
I’ve read 5 of your books and loved them all! So I guess I’ll have to check out the rest of them as I will probably like them too.
Happy New Year to you!!
Elza Reads
Yay! for reading five books on my list! I hope you enjoy the other five when you get to them! 😀
I’m glad you enjoyed Backman’s and Hazelwood’s books. Those were such gems.
Agreed! 😀 I definitely want to read more by both authors now.
I’m looking forward to reading Rock Paper Scissors. Glad it made your list. Happy New Year!
I hope you enjoy reading ROCK PAPER SCISSORS. I thought it was well-written and thought out. 😀
We talked about reading “The Midnight Library” in Book Club but then didn’t choose it. I think I need to read it on my own since it seems like one I would enjoy.
I hope you do enjoy it when you read it. It’s such and inspiring story. 😀
I loved Every Summer After and the Love Hypothesis as well!
Yay! 😀 They’re such great books. I’m glad you loved them too!
We have Every Summer After in common, though I also love The Love Hypothesis and Fangirl. The Midnight Library is on my TBR. Hope you’ll have a great 2023!
Woot woot! 😀 I hope you enjoy THE MIDNIGHT LIBRARY as much as I did.
Didn’t manage to get to A River Enchanted but it’s good to see it on favourites lists. Hope you read lots of great books in 2023!
My favourite books of 2022

Fangirl and Anxious People are books that I loved when I read them! I still need to read Love Hypothesis and Every Summer After and so glad to see it on so many lists today!
I hope you enjoyed THE LOVE HYPOTHESIS and EVERY SUMMER AFTER as much as or more than I did. 😀
