Top Ten Tuesday #32

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
Books Set in a School

This week’s prompt is “School Freebie.” I’ve probably decided on the easiest iteration for this topic. I’ve decided to go with my top ten books set in a school. Here are my favorite choices from books I’ve read:

This was a lot harder than I thought it would be. I haven’t read many books set in a school. At least I found ten.

What about you? Which books were on your list this week? Do we have any in common?

I learned in DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) that life is full of dialectics, or two opposing truths. In this case, the two opposing truths are: 1) I don’t agree with JKR’s stance regarding trans people, and 2) I still love Harry Potter.

Harry Potter of course and “A Separate Peace” which I read in high school English and has stayed with me. Did “Catcher in the Rye” take place in a school too? Part of “This Tender Land” was in an Indian school. I’m sure there are more but I’ve already strained my brain enough. LOL

I think Catcher in the Rye takes place mostly in a hotel. The main character does start out in school, though, so it could count. I didn’t like Catcher, though. It’s probably because I didn’t get it, lol. I’ve never heard of A Separate Peace or This Tender Land. I’ll have to look them up and see if they’re books I might enjoy reading. 😀

Yay! 😀 I’m so glad my list resonated with you. And, A Different Blue is the only Harmon book I’ve read so far. I’ve heard such great things about her other books, though.

I can understand wanting more from Speak. 🙂 I read it because of an article came out about how a teacher had it banned in his school district due to its “titillating” nature. I knew the teacher was off his rocker, but I wanted to be able to defend it from a sure knowledge. It was a hard book to read because of what happens to the main character. I’m glad I read it, though.

I hope you enjoy Anna when you read it. It’s my favorite of Stephanie Perkins’ books. And, I totally get not including Harry Potter because it’s been on so many of your lists. I feel like it’s on my lists at least two times each month. LOL. 😀
