Top Ten Tuesday #28

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
Books Set in a Place I’d Like to Visit (Real or Fictional)

This week’s prompt is a really fun one. It’s “Top Ten Books Set in a Place I’d Like to Visit (Real or Fictional).” There are so many places I’d love to visit. Hopefully, I can narrow it down to ten. Here are my top ten choices:

Hogwarts
Lyra’s Oxford
Idris
Narnia
Bella’s Forks
Caladan
England
Canada
Sweden
South Africa

What about you? Which book settings would you like to visit? Do we have any in common?

P.S. I’m going in for LASIK this morning so I won’t be able to comment on other blogs until later this week. Just know I haven’t forgotten about you.

I learned in DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) that life is full of dialectics, or two opposing truths. In this case, the two opposing truths are: 1) I don’t agree with JKR’s stance regarding trans people, and 2) I still love Harry Potter.

I just finished the Narnia books and, honestly, I’d rather not go there…it’s too much like our world. Dune wouldn’t be my choice either. Or the world of The Golden Compass. I’d probably pick a world where there was magic, especially if I could have magic.

I don’t want to go to Dune (Arrakis). I want to go to Paul’s home planet Caladan. It sounds beautiful.

I only want to go to Lyra’s Oxford because I’ll have a dæmon. I want a dæmon so badly it hurts!

I can understand your trepidation about all of these worlds, though. I’m just looking for different aspects of them.

I’ll visit all these places with you, Jenni! Nice choices. And I’d love to go back to Canada, especially eastern Canada.

Lol. I’m okay with meeting the Cullens or Denali clan, but I wouldn’t want to meet the other vampires. 😀 And, Hogwarts would be my top choice as long as I could be magical too.

Good luck on the surgery! A definite yes on HP and His Dark Materials! Probably on Dune although it was a dangerous place. No way on Trevor Noah’s South Africa; I loved reading about it (fascinating) but it sounded brutal.

Thanks, Margaret. 😀 I don’t mean Trevor Noah’s South Africa. I just meant South Africa in general. And, I don’t want to go to Dune (Arrakis). I want to go to Paul’s home planet Caladan. It sounds beautiful.

Lol. That would actually be a great way to do this prompt. I don’t want to go to Dune (Arrakis) either. I want to go to Paul’s home planet Caladan. It sounds beautiful. 😀

I’d love to go to Hogwarts and Narnia too. I’ve actually been to South Africa, I lived out in Cape Town for three months whilst I was doing a volunteer program out there and it was AMAZING. I would love to go back though and see more of the country. I live in England, so naturally I’ve been to quite a lot of places in this country! I’d really love to go to Canada too, it looks so beautiful!

That’s awesome that you lived in South Africa for a few months. I’d love to explore England and the surrounding UK countries. The pictures of the area are so beautiful. And, yes, to Canada being beautiful! 😀

I can imagine that there’s so much to do and see in Canada. It’s going to be as varied as the US is. I’d love to visit all provinces someday. 😀

Lol. Yes, danger aside. Most of these places, especially the fictional ones, I want to visit aspects of the setting to make the experience more pleasant. 😀
