Top Ten Tuesday #16
One-Word Reviews for the Last Ten Books I Read
This week’s prompt is “One-Word Reviews for the Last Ten Books I Read” and was submitted by my friend Susan from Bloggin’ ‘Bout Books. Here are the last ten books I’ve read, excluding any rereads:
Delightful
Thrilling
Ingenious
Unputdownable
Fun
Intriguing
Powerful
Suspenseful
Relatable
Frustrating
I enjoyed reading every one of these books. The highest rating was five stars for DEAR EMMIE BLUE and the lowest was three and a half stars for TO ALL THE BOYS I’VE LOVED BEFORE. It was harder than I thought it would be to think of only one word to review each of these books. It was a lot of fun, though. Good prompt choice, Susan!
What about you? What are the last ten books you’ve read?
I thought Fangirl was so much more than “Fun” but it is fun so you aren’t wrong haha. I didn’t really like Nine Perfect strangers, but I think “intriguing” is a good word for it.
I can understand why you think Fangirl is more than “fun.” I liked that word because it encompasses how I felt about the relatable story, the awesome characters, the cute romance, the fandom love, etc. I’m sure there are other words that could’ve worked too.
i’m surprised you managed to stay on topic! a lot of people went over (although not by much). i think one word (or even 5 word) reviews are better than long wordy ones. a lot of people don’t have the patience to read lengthy essays. 😂
Lol. Yeah, I’ve seen that as well this week. The one-word reviews are fun to read. I do like to read regular reviews as long as they’re not too long.
I like your words and your books! I also have Rock Paper Scissors, but my word is Koeksister. (It’s a twisted doughnut type of sweet here in SA). I chose the word because it was sooooo twisted!!
Happy TTT!
Elza Reads
That’s an awesome word for Rock Paper Scissors. Also, I’d love to try a Koeksister now. It sounds really good. 😀
Awesome one-word reviews. A River Enchanted is on my TBR so I’m glad you found it unputdownable.
I also added Dread Nation and Rock Paper Scissors to my TBR after your one-word reviews picked my interest 🙂

I’m glad you added some books to your TBR because of my words. 😀 I hope you enjoy each book as much as I did.
It’s always fun to find relatable books!

Agreed. 🙂
I haven’t read Fangirl in so long, it’s way overdue a re-read! I haven’t started the Carry On series either.
I haven’t started the Carry On trilogy yet either. I really want to after reading Fangirl.
Powerful books are fun reads!
Here is our Top Ten Tuesday.
Agreed. 😀
Someone saying a book is “unputdownable” will have me checking the blurb every time. I like a book with that quality.
Oh, yay! I hope you enjoy A River Enchanted as much as I did. 😀
I loved Fangirl so much but didn’t find it FUN. I think I remember it as kind of SAD (at least in the middle.) I thought this was a fun activity though I had a hard time limiting myself to just one word (and sort of failed at it a few times.) One Word Reviews
Yeah, I can understand why a couple of people don’t agree with my word choice for Fangirl. It was sad in the middle. And, I still standby my word because it encompasses how I felt about the relatable story, the awesome characters, the cute romance, the fandom love, etc.
Ooooh, “ingenious” is a great one! It describes DREAD NATION really well, too. I also love the word “relatable” and use it a lot in my reviews because I love a story I can really relate to.
One of the things I didn’t even think about when I submitted this prompt is that reading everyone’s lists would give me some great ideas for new adjectives to use instead of the same ole ones I always rely on. Bonus!
Happy TTT, my friend!

Lol. I’m glad you found some new adjectives for your reviews. 😀
I loved today’s prompt, but I agree, it’s hard to choose only one word! Delightful is perfect for Dear Emmie Blue.
It was so much fun to do, wasn’t it?
I really enjoyed Stalking Jack The Ripper too, it was definitely a gripping read. I only watched the TV miniseries of Nine Perfect Strangers and found it quite frustrating, I’m glad to see you found the book better!
My TTT: https://jjbookblog.wordpress.com/2022/05/03/top-ten-tuesday-366/
The miniseries for Nine Perfect Strangers was very frustrating. I did like the book more. I know many people didn’t like either. I’m not sure if you’d like the book or not.
I’m left wanting more details, especially about the frustrating one. I’m sure you’ve written a full review–now I just have to find it!
Lol. That is the problem with these one-word reviews, isn’t it?
Never mind, I realized that you had linked to your full reviews. Love triangles aren’t my thing either.
I’m glad you found it. And, yeah, love triangles are the worst.
Great choices! I read Stalking Jack The Ripper, Fangirl and The Sound of Stars and completely agree with your one word reviews 🙂
Thanks, Lindsey! I’m glad you like my word choices. 😀
