Top Ten Tuesday #1

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
2021 Releases I Was Excited to Read But Didn’t Get To

Since I only read 12 books last year due to unforeseen circumstances, I didn’t get to a lot of the books I wanted to read. Man, this list was hard to narrow down! Here are my top ten books released in 2021 I was excited to read but I didn’t get to:

It’s crazy to me that this list is mostly adult novels. I used to read mostly YA, I’ve started to read more adult novels than YA. I never thought that would happen and until this post prompted me to look at my stats I hadn’t realized it has been happening for the last five years.

What about you? What books released in 2021 were you excited to read but didn’t get to? Do we have any in common?

Me too! 😀 We’ll have to compare notes when we read it, lol. I’m glad to hear that you enjoyed both FIRE KEEPER’S DAUGHTER and THE LAST THING HE TOLD ME. I’m excited to read them when I get to them.

Jenny’s recommendation is one of the reasons I want to read Sally Hepworth as well. Plus, I really love those types of books and Jenny hasn’t steered me wrong yet. 😀

Cloud Cuckoo Land is so good but it is also a challenge to read, especially in the beginning. I read one of Lawson’s books in December and didn’t find it funny, as the liner notes said about it. I just felt like I was gaping at her exuberance. I, too, want to read The Fire Keeper’s Daughter. I see it is a finalist for the Morris Award which goes to first-time authors writing in that genre.

Jenny Lawson isn’t for everyone. I loved FURIOUSLY HAPPY. I related to her so much. I’m not as eccentric as she is nor as exuberant. But, reading between the lines, between the humor, I felt like she was a kindred spirit.

I’m glad to hear CLOUD CUCKOO LAND is that good. 🙂

I was really hoping to get to Broken this past year. I love anything Jenny Lawson writes. As you said it an above comment, I may not be as eccentric or exuberant, but I relate so much to what she has to say. The Fire Keeper’s Daughter is another one I really want to read. It’s been ages since I last read a Jennifer Robson’s book. I enjoy her work. I really ant to read the Hamel book too. Let’s just say I want to read everything on your list. 😉 I hope you do get a chance to read these all.

I know how you feel. I really don’t know which books are coming out anymore either. I had to look a lot of these up. I knew I wanted to read them because I had heard of them earlier when they were announced. I just didn’t know they’d already come out.
