Sunday Post: Easter Edition

The Sunday Post is a blog news meme hosted at Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week on your blog, and showcase books and things received.

I was feeling a little bit sad on Thursday and Friday. I’m pretty sure it was because I hadn’t hung out with any of my friends for about a month. (I need to be around people other than my husband every once in a while.) And, when I tried to set up a lunch for my and another friend’s birthday this month with my friends (going to lunch is our tradition), I only got a response from two people; there are seven of us. I felt sad that the others didn’t make more of an effort. I know people have their own lives and they can’t always do things with friends. I just wish they had at least responded.

This week on the blog:

I finished reading A RIVER ENCHANTED by Rebecca Ross this week. I actually stayed up until 4am last Sunday night.

I’m now reading DREAD NATION by Justina Ireland. It’s very interesting and eye-opening. I’m about 75% of the way through it. I’ll finish it today.

Tomorrow, I’ll start reading STALKING JACK THE RIPPER by Kerri Maniscalco. I’m so excited! I’m fascinated by Jack the Ripper and I’ve been wanting to read this book ever since it was published.

I’ve been listening to “Singing with the Wolves” by Anica. I discovered it while Corey was watching something on TikTok. It was playing in the background and I instantly fell in love with it.

I haven’t been watching anything new this week. I’ve just been watching my weekly episodes of Spring Baking Championship, Domino Masters, Masterchef Junior, and Star Trek: Picard.

The wait between episodes for Star Trek: Picard kills me every week! This season is so amazing.

I’m thinking about watching Roar on AppleTV+. It looks intriguing. I just want to spend more time reading and since this month is crazy with school work because the semester’s almost over, I’m being more selfish with my freetime.

Last week I said I loved my new hair color, but didn’t post a picture because I didn’t have one. I have one now. I thought I’d share it this week. This is my new profile picture everywhere and I love it.

I want Corey to know how much I love him. He knows my birthday’s very important to me. We can’t afford to do much this year and what he did means the world to me. I thought we were just going to celebrate by going to see the new Fantastic Beasts movie on Tuesday, which is my actual birthday. We still are and that would’ve been just fine if we had only done that. However, he also organized a small party yesterday with our really good friends and their kids (more family than friends). We had pizza and dessert and played games. It was the best way to celebrate my birthday.

I need to get out more. This semester has been hard because it’s been online and isolating. I’m glad my classes in the fall are going to be in person. Until school starts in the fall and even while I’m in school, I think I need to get a part-time job so I have a reason to leave the house for a few hours each day/week. I’ll be graduating from my DBT therapy in four weeks so I won’t be doing that twice a week anymore. Maybe, I can get a job at Barnes & Noble or the local library. That would be awesome.

How was your week? Anything exciting happen?

Happy Easter! And happy birthday! That party your husband set up sounds fabulous. And I hear you on getting out- I’m fairly introverted but it is nice to be around other people, especially with all the restrictions we’ve had these last couple years. It wears on you after a while!

    Beautiful song BTW!

Thank you, Greg! 🙂 The party was very nice and I enjoyed it immensely.

I’m and introverted extrovert or an extroverted introvert, lol. I love being about people as long as I’m comfortable with those people. I don’t like crowds and I don’t like parties with a lot of people. I prefer gatherings with a few intimate friends. I usually get recharged by being around people, whereas I know introverts are drained. For me, it always depends on the people I’m around.

Oooh I do like the purple hair and Elza also gives a paws up! I also need to have people around me and I am luckily a social person. My husband isn’t and he’s quite happy with only having me for company!

Happy reading this week and be kind to yourself!

Happy birthday! It sounds like you had many fun celebrations. My daughter still loves online school. She talks to one of her high school friends weekly and it doesn’t seem to bother either of us to be alone quite a bit. I mean we live together so we aren’t completely alone.

Thank you, Anne! 🙂 I have had some fun celebrations. It’s been nice. I do like online school. I just miss the interaction with other students and the teacher because I’m very social. College is harder when you’re not a traditional student, I think, because you don’t make friends as easily (at least in my experience). Being in the classroom helps so you can interact with the other students.

Happy birthday and happy Easter to you! That color looks great on you.

I find that the hardest thing for me is having expectations. For example, if I were you, in the past, I’d have had expectations that all my friends would have responded and I would have felt disappointed when they didn’t. Now, instead, I feel happy when I hear from anyone.

    • Jenni Elyse
      Jenni Elyse says:

Agreed. It is all about expectations. Next year, my expectations will be lower and, like you, I’ll just be happy when I hear from anyone. 🙂 Although, I have gotten to that place this year. It just took a little bit because I was expecting more.

Purple is one of my favorite colors! I love the way you organize your blog with the categories. What a great birthday and thoughtful husband. I too would like people to respond to my invitations and need to make sure I get out more; it’s been tough during the pandemic because I’m highly social.

Oh yay! I love finding other purple lovers. 🙂 Thank you for the compliment on my blog and birthday wishes.

I’m glad things seem to be getting more normal again, but it’s still weird and the number of COVID cases could surge again, which would be hard. I’m still cautious about where I go and who I’m around and I still need to be social for I get depressed. I just hope that everything will keep getting better. 🤞🏻

Happy Birthday almost b’day twinsie!!! I’m glad you got to do something fun and get to hang out with people.

I’m the total opposite and would rather be alone lol My tradition is always to go out and buy new plants. It’s the kick off to better weather and gardening season – which I love!

Kevin took me to a new plant nursery which also has a adorable cafe that serves brunch so we found a few rare plants I was looking for and a good meal.
