Sunday News #53
Feeling
I’m feeling a little bit tired. I stayed up Friday night and last night reading two very good books. I often don’t stay up reading because I love my sleep too much. When a book can get me to forget about my sleep, then it’s definitely going to get a 4- or 5-star rating.
Blogging
Here’s what I posted on the blog this week:
Reading
I finished reading BOOK LOVERS by Emily Henry and listening to THE BALLAD OF SONGBIRDS AND SNAKES audiobook last night and I loved them both. I’ll post both reviews soon.
I’m going to start reading THIS SPELLS LOVE by Kate Robb today and I’m going to continue reading The Hunger Games series via audio.
Listening
I’ve been listening to a few songs Corey adores. If he’s not listening to his main playlist that consists of 60s and 70s rock, then he goes back and forth between listening to the three songs below. I think the first one is weird, but funny and I like the second and third. Let me know what you think of them.
Watching
We went to BEEKEEPER in the theater on Friday. It’s the new Jason Statham movie. You always know what you’re in for when you watch a Jason Statham movie and it definitely delivered. I liked it, but the story felt underdeveloped and rushed. I think his Transporter and Mechanic series are better.
We also watched the three Kingsman movies and the two Hitman’s Bodyguard movies at home. I love the Kingsman movies and I’m excited for the new one to come out later this year or early next year. I love the first Hitman’s Bodyguard movie the best. Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson are hilarious together. The second one isn’t as good, but it’s still fun.
Loving
I love the bookmarks I made for a few of my friends. We met in DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) and have been friends since. This week was two of their birthdays so I crocheted bookmarks for each of them.
Wanting
I want to go swimming. I miss Bear Lake. I know I can swim in the indoor pool at our local recreation center, but it’s not the same. Bear Lake is not only a gorgeous blue green, but it’s fresh water with no salt or chlorine and it’s cold. It’s nice to take a dip on a warm summer’s day.
Needing Craving
I’m craving my spicy oatmeal cookies because one of Corey’s colognes always reminds me of nutmeg and other spices. They’re cake-like cookies, fluffy and soft, and they taste like spice cake but better.
How was your week? Anything exciting happen?
I am so glad you enjoyed Book Lovers–I just loved it too! I have been craving gingerbread cookies or cake or anything that flavor!
Oooh. I also love gingerbread and molasses cookies. I’d be good with those too, lol. 😀
Those bookmarks are beautiful. What a wonderful gift!
Thanks, Joy! 😀 I had fun making them.
If a book can keep you awake long past your normal bedtime, that is a good book, I think.
Love the bookmarks!
Thanks, Deb! 😀 I had fun making them. And, I totally agree about a book that keeps you reading.
When I was younger and had more energy, I would constantly stay up late to read my books. Now that I’m older and need more sleep, I have a bit more self control to stop reading and go to bed, but occasionally there’s a really good book or two that is just worth staying up late for, and I love when that happens! I’m glad you enjoyed your books so much!
Thanks, Haze! 😀 And, yes, I could stay up late into the evening when I was young and not be phased. Not so much anymore, lol.
I love the bookmarks you made, how wonderful to receive such a nice gift. Have a wonderful week, Jenni ☕📚🪱😊
Thank you, Jody! 😀 I really enjoyed making them.
I love oatmeal cookies! I’m not much of a swimmer though; I wish I were. John and I saw previews of that film and I thought it would be a sweet film about beekeeping. Nope. Neither one of us is much into action films although he likes them more than I do.
I love most oatmeal cookies, but my family’s recipe is my favorite. 😀 Corey and I usually watch action, comedy, or action comedy. I do enjoy a good drama, rom-com, and thriller as well. And, sometimes, I even like horror but I have to be in the right frame of mind to want to be scared, lol.
Book Lovers is my favorite of Emily Henry’s novels… definitely a case of the right book at the right time for me. Great bookmarks!
Thanks, JoAnn! 😀 I had a lot of fun making them. I haven’t read any of Emily Henry’s other books, but I’m looking forward to reading them.
I can’t stay up reading at night the way I used to. Sleep wins out even when I fight against it. It’s for the best though, because like you, I need the sleep. I am glad you enjoyed Book Lovers and hope you enjoy This Spells Love. It sounds like it will be a good one. I like romance mixed with paranormal. Those bookmarks are so nice! You did a good job on them. I hope you have a great week!
Thank you! 😀 I really enjoyed making them. I also love romance mixed with fantasy or paranormal or whatever. I hope THIS SPELLS LOVE is a good one too.
The bookmarks look great!! I am crocheting placemats for my dining room table, and enjoying doing it while we watch a show in the evenings (currently Chopped). The cookies sound yummy! Have a great week!
Thanks, Cindy! 😀 I had a lot of fun making them. That’s cool that you’re crocheting placemats for your table. I hope they turn out like you want them to. You’ll have to share a picture of them when you’re done. 😀
I reaaaally want to get round to reading Book Lovers! It sounds so fun and I hear good things about the author all the time.
Hope you have a good week!
It’s so good. I gave it 5 stars. I can’t wait to read more of Emily Henry’s books. 😀 I hope you enjoy it when you finally read it.
Talking Heads!!!!
We had a lake we went to called Bear Lake too. It was small but a nice palce.
I knew you’d appreciate at least of the songs. 😀 That’s cool that there was a Bear Lake where you lived too.
Those bookmarks are so cool! And one of these days I want to read Book Lovers. Have a good week Jenni😁
Thank you, Tammy! 😀 I had fun making them. I hope you enjoy BOOK LOVERS as much as I did.
I loved Book Lovers too.
Psycho Killer is the only one of those three songs I’m familiar with (I’m old). The other two are a little bizarre.
The bookmarks are lovely gifts.
Wishing you a wonderful reading week
Thanks, Shelley Rae! 😀 I had fun making them. Woot woot to BOOK LOVERS!!! Lol.
Love the bookmarks! I have never seen anything like those. I have made bookmarks before, but they were beaded – nothing fancy, just basic bead stringing. Have a great week. 🙂
Thanks, Meezan! 😀 I had a lot of fun making them. That’s cool that you do bead work. I’ve always wanted to try doing something like that. 😀
I just read your “about” section and love that you said you like kissing in a book. I do too! I really enjoy the contemporary romance books that have been coming out the past few years.
Ha! 😀 Yes, the more kissing, sexual tension, romance, etc. in a book the better. The contemporary romance books as of late are amazing. I’m glad I’m reading them.
