Sunday News #51

Sunday Post and Sunday Salon are blog news memes hosted at Caffeinated Reviewer and Reader Buzz, respectively. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week on your blog, and showcase books and other things.
Feeling

I’m feeling pretty good. I decided to stay on my med because I couldn’t deal with the lack of sleep. I’ve noticed that if I go to bed no later than midnight and I have an alarm set, I can get up without too much trouble. I’m still a bit drowsy, but I think most people are.

Blogging

Here’s what I posted on the blog this week:

Reading

I’ve been reading REMARKABLY BRIGHT CREATURES by Shelby Van Pelt this week. I should finish it some time today and then I’ll post my review on Wednesday. I’m going to start rereading SUNRUNNER’S FIRE by Melanie Rawn next. It’s the last of the Dragon Prince trilogy that I’ve been rereading.

I haven’t had much chance to listen to THE BALLAD OF SONGBIRDS AND SNAKES audiobook. I hope I get more time this week.

Listening

I’ve been listening to music from movies this week. One of my favorites is “Dawn” from the 2005 PRIDE & PREJUDICE movie starring Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen.

Watching

I couldn’t sleep on Tuesday night so I ended up watching the 2005 PRIDE & PREJUDICE movie on my phone while I was in bed. I’m part of the minority who like this version better than the BBC one starring Colin Firth.

Corey and I watched DIVERGENT and INSURGENT on Friday and ALLEGIANT on Saturday. It’s too bad ALLEGIANT didn’t do better in the theaters so the movie studio would’ve green lit the fourth movie. I need to reread the trilogy. I’d forgotten how much I like the story.

Loving

I love my new 2024 Reads page. I love some of the blogging tools I have through the Enfold theme on WordPress.

Wanting

I want to put a series post together some time. It’ll take some time with what I have in mind. I’m scheduling some time to work on it so I actually follow through with my ideas.

Needing

I need to start physical therapy this week. I went to an orthopedic doctor on Tuesday. My hips and knees have been causing me some pain. My right side’s much weaker than my left side because I’ve been compensating for pain and stiffness caused by my injury in October 2022.

I’m a little nervous because I’ve never done physical therapy. I’m also excited because I’d like to walk up and down the stairs normally and I’d like to start walking again.

How was your week? Anything exciting happen?

Awesome! 😀 I’m glad you’re enjoying it. I am as well. I might need to bag the audiobook and just read the physical book because it’ll go faster, lol.

Yay! 😀 Another 2005 P&P fan! My book club thinks I’m nuts for not really liking the miniseries. I’m glad I’m not the only one who doesn’t care for it. And, thank you for the well wishes!

I don’t mind Colin Firth as Darcy. I just hated everyone else, lol, especially Mrs. Bennett. The actress is way too over-the-top and I wanted to pull my hair out every time she opened her mouth. Ha! 😀

I really need to read Remarkably Bright Creatures soon. I want to read it anyway but it seems to be everywhere I turn lately. It’s a sign!

I had some right knee pain that came and went for several years and I ignored it. Then my left knee started giving me trouble so I finally went to the doctor. I didn’t get any real answers but he did send me to physical therapy, which made a world of difference. They told me the left knee was hurting because I was abusing it while compensating for the right knee pain. Makes sense. You’ll be glad you went!

I know you’re a gamer but I’m not sure if your husband (Partner? My sincere apologies if I’ve mischaracterized your relationship) is. If he is, have you played It Takes Two? I got it for my husband for Christmas. We don’t compete well together (I’m a bad loser and he’s a bad winner) so I was looking for a co-op game. It’s so much fun! The backstory is a bit of a drag, featuring a couple getting a divorce, and there’s a problematic character who embodies some negative stereotypes, but otherwise we love it! The graphics are beautiful and we love solving the puzzles together.

    Enjoy your week!

RBC is so good. I love it so much, especially Marcellus (the octopus). If you do end up reading it, I hope you love it!

Your knee pain sounds about like mine. I definitely abuse the one I use more because of the one I hate to use. Thanks for the well wishes on PT! 😀

He’s my husband and no problem at all. He isn’t a gamer, but he doesn’t mind playing MarioKart or a few other 4-player games, like Super Smash Bros. and Ultimate Chicken Horse (if you’ve never played this, you really should). I’ve heard of It Takes Two. It looks fun. I just haven’t tried it out because Corey isn’t much of a gamer. Maybe I should talk him into it, lol.

I prefer the Colin Firth version myself, but I do love that piece of music. Best of luck with your PT. I have needed it several times, for various issues. It’s been pretty effective each time, but you do have to do the at-home exercises consistently.

Colin Firth makes a nice Darcy. I just hated all the other actors, especially Mrs. Bennett. The actress was way too over-the-top and I almost couldn’t finish the miniseries because she annoyed me so much, lol.
