Sunday News #51

Sunday Post and Sunday Salon are blog news memes hosted at Caffeinated Reviewer and Reader Buzz, respectively. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week on your blog, and showcase books and other things.
Feeling

I’m feeling pretty good. I decided to stay on my med because I couldn’t deal with the lack of sleep. I’ve noticed that if I go to bed no later than midnight and I have an alarm set, I can get up without too much trouble. I’m still a bit drowsy, but I think most people are.

Blogging

Here’s what I posted on the blog this week:

Reading

I’ve been reading REMARKABLY BRIGHT CREATURES by Shelby Van Pelt this week. I should finish it some time today and then I’ll post my review on Wednesday. I’m going to start rereading SUNRUNNER’S FIRE by Melanie Rawn next. It’s the last of the Dragon Prince trilogy that I’ve been rereading.

I haven’t had much chance to listen to THE BALLAD OF SONGBIRDS AND SNAKES audiobook. I hope I get more time this week.

Listening

I’ve been listening to music from movies this week. One of my favorites is “Dawn” from the 2005 PRIDE & PREJUDICE movie starring Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen.

Watching

I couldn’t sleep on Tuesday night so I ended up watching the 2005 PRIDE & PREJUDICE movie on my phone while I was in bed. I’m part of the minority who like this version better than the BBC one starring Colin Firth.

Corey and I watched DIVERGENT and INSURGENT on Friday and ALLEGIANT on Saturday. It’s too bad ALLEGIANT didn’t do better in the theaters so the movie studio would’ve green lit the fourth movie. I need to reread the trilogy. I’d forgotten how much I like the story.

Loving

I love my new 2024 Reads page. I love some of the blogging tools I have through the Enfold theme on WordPress.

Wanting

I want to put a series post together some time. It’ll take some time with what I have in mind. I’m scheduling some time to work on it so I actually follow through with my ideas.

Needing

I need to start physical therapy this week. I went to an orthopedic doctor on Tuesday. My hips and knees have been causing me some pain. My right side’s much weaker than my left side because I’ve been compensating for pain and stiffness caused by my injury in October 2022.

I’m a little nervous because I’ve never done physical therapy. I’m also excited because I’d like to walk up and down the stairs normally and I’d like to start walking again.

How was your week? Anything exciting happen?

I love the 2005 Pride and Prejudice. It’s so good. The soundtrack is a favorite. And speaking of the soundtrack. I love the song “this is what autumn fees like” by JVKE because it reminds me of Liz on top of the world.

Love this music you’ve included but I love the P&P version with Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle. Good luck with your PT. I have issues with my left hip and shoulder thanks to my job. I try and do exercises to compensate.

Your 2024 Reads tracker is great! Good luck at physical therapy. I’ve had to go twice for shoulder issues and it’s so helpful. It is hard work but you’ll feel much better! Have a great reading week!

I understand deciding to stay on the meds so you are able to sleep. I am always so tired and never feel like I get enough sleep. I’m up so often in the night and have trouble falling asleep most nights. I hope you liked REMARKABLY BRIGHT CREATURES. That seems to be a book club favorite. Both my mother and mother-in-law’s book clubs read it and loved it. I re-watched the Divergent movies recently too and had the same thought. It would have been nice for them to finish the series out. I enjoyed the first two books but didn’t care for Allegiant. And not for the reason often given by those disappointed in it. I have a different perspective on it now though after having read a few articles that went into depth about some of the issues I had with the last book, and wonder if in rereading, I might appreciate it more. Anyway, it’s hard to talk about and avoid spoilers. LOL

Good luck with the physical therapy. It has helped me with my knee quite a bit.

I hope you have a great week!

Don’t you hate that sleeping is such a problem as we get older? If I had known, if any of us had known, I wonder if we wouldn’t have fought so hard against naps as kids, lol.

I loved REMARKABLY BRIGHT CREATURES. It was so heart-warming.

I’m curious why you didn’t like ALLEGIANT if it’s not for the same reason others didn’t like it. It wasn’t my favorite of the series, but I thought it was an okay ending. And, it really is hard to talk about on a blog because of spoilers.

Thank you! 😀 I hope you have a great week too. I actually postponed my PT until next Friday because my sinus infection is back and I’m hoping my doctor will put me on some more antibiotics tomorrow and then I can be feeling better by end of next week. 🤞🏻

Thanks, Susan. 😀 Sorry about your frozen shoulder. I had something similar at the end of 2022. I got a cortisone shot and it helped tremendously. I hope the pain isn’t still plaguing you.
