Sunday News #51
Feeling
I’m feeling pretty good. I decided to stay on my med because I couldn’t deal with the lack of sleep. I’ve noticed that if I go to bed no later than midnight and I have an alarm set, I can get up without too much trouble. I’m still a bit drowsy, but I think most people are.
Blogging
Here’s what I posted on the blog this week:
Reading
I’ve been reading REMARKABLY BRIGHT CREATURES by Shelby Van Pelt this week. I should finish it some time today and then I’ll post my review on Wednesday. I’m going to start rereading SUNRUNNER’S FIRE by Melanie Rawn next. It’s the last of the Dragon Prince trilogy that I’ve been rereading.
I haven’t had much chance to listen to THE BALLAD OF SONGBIRDS AND SNAKES audiobook. I hope I get more time this week.
Listening
I’ve been listening to music from movies this week. One of my favorites is “Dawn” from the 2005 PRIDE & PREJUDICE movie starring Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen.
Watching
I couldn’t sleep on Tuesday night so I ended up watching the 2005 PRIDE & PREJUDICE movie on my phone while I was in bed. I’m part of the minority who like this version better than the BBC one starring Colin Firth.
Corey and I watched DIVERGENT and INSURGENT on Friday and ALLEGIANT on Saturday. It’s too bad ALLEGIANT didn’t do better in the theaters so the movie studio would’ve green lit the fourth movie. I need to reread the trilogy. I’d forgotten how much I like the story.
Loving
I love my new 2024 Reads page. I love some of the blogging tools I have through the Enfold theme on WordPress.
Wanting
I want to put a series post together some time. It’ll take some time with what I have in mind. I’m scheduling some time to work on it so I actually follow through with my ideas.
Needing
I need to start physical therapy this week. I went to an orthopedic doctor on Tuesday. My hips and knees have been causing me some pain. My right side’s much weaker than my left side because I’ve been compensating for pain and stiffness caused by my injury in October 2022.
I’m a little nervous because I’ve never done physical therapy. I’m also excited because I’d like to walk up and down the stairs normally and I’d like to start walking again.
How was your week? Anything exciting happen?
It can sometimes take a while to help, but physio can have some really great results — here’s hoping it really helps you!
Hope you keep having fun with the rereading. 😀
My weekly roundup.
Thanks, Nicky! 😀 My husband has been through a lot of physical therapy and he pretty much says the same thing. I’m glad it will help even if it takes a while.
Our book group is supposed to be discussing Remarkably Bright Creatures this week (if we are able to get together despite the freezing temps here).
Good luck with your physical therapy!
I hope your book group’s able to get together. I know how the freezing temps causes problems in Texas. My family’s from there so I’ve heard about it. Maybe y’all can do a Zoom call if the temps don’t let up. That’s what my group did in 2020. Good luck!
Good luck with physical therapy!
best, mae at maefood.blogspot.com
Thanks, Mae! 😀
I rewatched both versions of Pride and Prejudice over the Christmas break – and I like them both for completely different reasons. I think the depiction of the period is better in the 2005 version and I very much like Kiera Knightley’s version of Lizzy. I hope the coming week is a good one for you, Jennie.
I can totally get why you like both for different reasons. I just hate Lizzie’s mom in the BBC version. The actress annoys me to no end. Lol. 😀
I loved the Divergent series books, but the movies were only so-so for me, and I can’t remember if I watched the third one? Probably should go back and do that. I loved the soundtrack to the first Bridgerton season. Still listen to it occasionally. I hope you are able to get some more things done this week! What is the Enfold tool on WordPress?

I agree about the movies. I mostly watched them because Corey loves them. (He hasn’t read the books.) I just remembered how much I like the stories so I want to read the books to get a better version. I hope that makes sense.
Enfold is a responsive multi-purpose theme. Corey used to be a graphic designer and used Enfold to build websites and blogs for his clients. He had multiple licenses because of it and I’m using a license. Basically, you install it as your theme in WordPress and then you have complete access to building your website the way you want it to look. It’s a lot like NoseGraze’s Tweak Me theme. I hope that helps answer your question.
Your 2024 Reads page is so cool! I love the way you’ve set it up. Are the progress/percentage trackers from the Enfold theme too? They look so good. I’m glad you’re feeling better and getting some sleep. I’ve never had physical therapy, but I hope it does wonders for you! Hope you have a great week!
Thank you! 😀 The progress/percentage trackers are part of Enfold. It’s one of the elements you can use to customize your pages.
Good luck with physical therapy! I was supposed to get that for my knees when I was a kid, but it never happened. I’m on the library waitlist for Remarkably Bright Creatures. I’ve heard good things about it.
Thank you! 😀 So far, I love RBC. I hope the ending doesn’t change my mind, lol.
Physical therapy is hard but SO worth it!! The more you put into it the more you will get out of it. Hope it goes well. Have a great week!
Thanks, Cindy! 😀 I’ll remember to put a lot of work into my physical therapy.
I like your 2024 Reads page too!!
Thank you, Cindy! 😀
I enjoyed the first two books in that series then DNF the third. I don’t remember why! I look forward to your review of Remarkably Bright Creatures. So many have recommended it to me yet I’ve hesitated to read it. Again, I’m not sure why.
The Divergent series? Or Dragon Prince? I’m guessing the former. I know a lot of people had a hard time with the third book. I was spoiled before I read it and wonder if that’s why I didn’t hate. Lol.
I can understand hesitating to read RBC. This isn’t a spoiler as you learn about it in the first chapter. Tova’s, the MC, husband died of cancer two years before the beginning of the book. So that might hit a little closer to home for you.
The 2005 version of Pride and Prejudice is my favorite!! It’s so good!! I hope physical therapy goes well!
My Sunday Post
Yay! 😀 I’m glad to find another kindred spirit in P&P movie versions, lol.
I’ve never read the Divergent series, but I have seen the movies. I need to eventually read the books.
Good luck with Physical Therapy. It definitely helps. I had to go through physical therapy when I had surgery on my right femur and then several times for my knees due to serving in the Navy. My knees haven’t been the same since I served.
The movies are pretty good, but the books are definitely better! If you do end up reading the Divergent series, I hope you like it! 😀
I can only imagine what being in the navy has done to your knees. Thank you for serving, though! 😀
I was a big fan of the Divergent series. And thought the movies were well done too- the first two anyway. And I’m also a big fan of the 2005 P&P!
Lol. Yeah, the third movie kind of fizzled out since it didn’t finish the story. I knew they shouldn’t have split that one. Too many people hated the third book and second movie for it to warrant two movies. Oh well.
I enjoyed the 2005 P&P last week. It’s been ages since I’ve seen the BBC series so I couldn’t begin to compare.
Good luck with the PT!
I’m glad you enjoyed the 2005 P&P last week. I’ve only seen the BBC one once but it was only a few years ago. I hated the actress who played Mrs. Bennett so much. SO MUCH. Even though Mrs. Bennett is annoying in the book, the actress went way over top and her voice just grated on my nerves, lol. Plus, the actors were way too old for characters. As you can see, I have strong opinions, lol.
I love your reading page! That is very cool!
And, my experience with physical therapy was great. You need to do the exercises they give you every day, but it’s amazing how well it works. Good luck with your appointment!
Thanks, Tessa! 😀 Thanks for the advice on physical therapy. I’ll be sure to do my exercises every day.
