Sunday News #32

Sunday Post and Sunday Salon are blog news memes hosted at Caffeinated Reviewer and Reader Buzz, respectively. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week on your blog, and showcase books and other things.
Feeling

I’m feeling excited and a bit overwhelmed because school starts tomorrow. I feel excited because it’s a new school year with lots of possibilities, and I feel overwhelmed because I don’t quite feel ready for the first day.

Blogging

This week on the blog:

Reading

Despite signing up and participating in Bout of Books this week, I haven’t read much. I started LINES OF COURAGE by Jennifer A Nielsen, but I only got to page 160. I did do a lot of researching WWI, though, because of Nielsen’s book.

I don’t know if I’ll get much reading done this week either because of school. I’m going to try, though.

Listening

I’ve been listening to my Faves playlist while running errands and being in the car. The song that stuck out to me the most this week is “Handclap” by Fitz and the Tantrums. I like to clap my hands against the steering wheel while I sing along to this song.

Watching

Corey and I watched various movies this week. Most of them were unmemorable. We got a new TV and it’s big enough for Corey to read subtitles (finally), so we watched EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE. It was amazing!

We also watched the first episode of SHE-HULK: ATTORNEY AT LAW. First off, it was really funny. Second, I love that View Spoiler » using Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). My therapist and I had a good laugh about it. I told him, “I’m a hulk. Okay.” His response to me was, “I thought I might say that it is empirically supported for BPD [Borderline Personality Disorder] and gamma radiation poisoning. ” I laughed a lot.

Loving

I went to PetSmart this week to get Izzy some litter. I decided to stop by the cats for adoption. There was a 3-month old female named Binks and I immediately fell in love with her. I tried to convince Corey that we should adopt her, but he’s not ready yet. I don’t blame him one bit. I miss Dax so much, and I know Izzy needs a friend. We can wait, though.

Wanting

I want to dye my hair purple again. I’m not sure when I’ll be able to. Hopefully, soon.

Needing

I started PTSD therapy last Monday. It’s called PE, which stands for Prolonged Exposure. It works in conjunction with what I learned in DBT. I had a hard time doing my homework this week. I’m anxious about feeling the emotions even though I know it’ll help me in the long run. I know it’s going to get harder before it gets easier. Thankfully, I have the best therapist and I have the skills I learned in DBT to help me. I just need to remember that it’s about progress not perfection.

How was your week? Anything exciting happen?

It sounds like you have some new beginnings happening with school and your therapy. I wish you much success in both. One day at a time. You got this!

My husband absolutely loves “Handclap.” I like it but he loves it. Every time I hear it, I have to text him, “I can make your hands clap 👏”

We want to watch She-Hulk and Ms. Marvel but we’re trying to finish up a couple of other shows first. My husband is a binge watcher but I only like to watch an episode of something every now and then so we’re super slow to finish a series! I may have to give in and start those soon. But I also want to watch The Sandman…

I would love to dye just one curl blue but my curls are naturally dry. I just know that stripping the color first to get the blue in there would leave me with a strand of frizz! I spend too much of my life fighting frizz to invite it in willingly 😀

I hope school and the PE therapy go well for you. Just remember that you should be proud that you’re pursuing techniques to help yourself.

Thanks, Jen! 😀 I don’t blame you at all for not dying your hair. Curly hair is beautiful, and it takes a lot of maintenance so you don’t get the frizz.

I’d love to watch the Sandman too. It’s looks so interesting, doesn’t it?

I remember being both excited and overwhelmed on the first day of school too! She-Hulk sounds kinda fun. We need to get another cat as a buddy for my kitty. He needs someone since we lost his mate a year ago, but we haven’t wanted to add another cat since we moved and all the turmoil involved with that. Now we wonder if we’d upset our kitty with a new cat, maybe not bond. It’s a big decision, but if I go into the rescue/adoption centers it’s so hard to resist bringing one home! It breaks my heart to see them in the cages!

Thanks, Rachel! 😀 The first week of school’s definitely been interesting. And, getting to know my schedule has been quite the adventure. I know it’ll get easier from here. Hopefully, I can enjoy my classes for the whole semester.

I understand the hesitancy of getting another cat so soon after losing one. I only want one right now because I think Izzy needs a friend, especially now that we’re both in school and gone most of the day.

Oh that’s a jazzy song! Hope your week has been going well! Aw yes I think it might be good to give some time before the new kitty. I’m happy that your therapy is going well and you have a great therapist – makes all the difference.
    Take care this week!

Thanks, Sara! 😀 It is a jazzy song, isn’t it? I love it SOOOOO much. Therapy’s going well. It’s hard, harder than I even expected, and I can deal with it.

I loved Everything Everywhere. It was soooo weird but wonderful. I had no interest in She-Hulk but everyone seems to like it so I’m going to give it a try.

We saw Fitz and the Tantrums and I was floored by how long they could keep up the energy. I was exhausted watching lol

Hope you had a good week with school and therapy.

Thanks, Karen! 😀 EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE is weird, a little trippy, and like you, I loved it!

I understand about She-Hulk. I really wasn’t very interested in it either until my therapist told me abut the DBR stuff, lol.
