Sunday News #24

Sunday Post and Sunday Salon are blog news memes hosted at Caffeinated Reviewer and Reader Buzz, respectively. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week on your blog, and showcase books and other things.
Feeling

I’m feeling so much better. I still have lingering fatigue from COVID and, every now and then, I still cough or have some body aches. It’s so much better and more bearable than it has been, though.

Corey and his dad are also doing a lot better too. His dad still has some lingering congestion. We recommended he take some guaifenesin to help clear his mucus. Hopefully that will help. Corey also feels the fatigue, but he says it’s getting better.

I’m also starting to come out of the brain fog and headache I had from coming off my medication. I’m feeling much more clear-headed, which is one of the best feelings in the world.

Blogging

This week on the blog:

I celebrated my 15th blogoversary on Thursday. I also have a giveaway going with my blogoversary. It’s for a book of your choice (up to a $15 value). If you want to enter the giveaway, check out my post for instructions.

Reading

I read less than I wanted to this week because of all the craziness happening with selling our place. I did start reading SIMON VS. THE HOMO SAPIENS AGENDA by Becky Albertalli, but I haven’t made much headway. From what I’ve read so far, I’m really loving the book, though.

Listening

This week, I listened to “Mad World” by Gary Jules. Even though it’s such a sad song, I love to listen to it when I need something calming.

Watching

Corey and I rewatched MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: FALLOUT. We’re both big fans of the MI series and we wanted something actiony.

We also tried to watch EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE, but Corey’s eyes give him trouble and he couldn’t read the subtitles. He has neurological issues with his eyes so it’s not anything corrective lenses would fix. I’ll watch the movie by myself sometime because it’s looks really good.

We also finished watching OBI-WAN KENOBI. We really enjoyed the series, thought it was really well done. I know it was only billed as a limited series, but I hope they do a season 2, especially since Ewan McGregor has expressed interest.

Loving

I love my therapist so much! He’s writing me a letter that says my cats are emotional support animals. No matter where we move, we can’t be turned away because of our cats. (My therapist’s only writing this letter because my cats ARE emotional support animals. We’re not trying to scam the system.)

Wanting

I want to show off my nails. I got a mani-pedi this week. I decided to do rainbow nails for Pride. I love how they turned out. (You can see my sad, empty shelves in the background. I’m really looking forward to getting my library back in order when we move.)

Needing

I need to know where we’re going to move. We have a few places picked out, but we can’t finalize any of our plans until we close. It’s so stressful and I hope it all works out. We currently have four days until we close and six days if you don’t count today until we move.

How was your week? Anything exciting happen?

Glad you’re feeling better (and your family too). It’s such a relief when some of those lingering Covid symptoms start to abate. Such a scary illness.

    15 years! Wow, that’s awesome. 🙂

I finished up Obiwan too and while I had a few issues with it, I enjoyed it. Nice to see a rematch. 🙂 I’d be good with another season too. And good luck with the move!

Thanks, Greg! 😀 It really is such a scary illness. I wish more people took it seriously, including the governor of my state. SMDH.

I’m still in awe that I’ve had a blog for 15 years, lol, even if I didn’t actively post for the full time.

The rematch between Vader and Obi-Wan was incredible. It actually kind of made up for the less than exciting one on the Death Star, lol. Don’t get me wrong. I love ANH and all the originals SOOOOO much. I’ve just always been frustrated with that scene with Vader and Alec Guinness Obi-Wan.

        Greg says:

Yeah it’s a pretty lackluster duel lol even accounting for the fact that Alec Guinness was older. Nice to see him portrayed younger and dominating. 🙂 I particularly liked that he won cleanly so there was no doubt that he could best Vader. Just like Luke beating Vader so he could redeem Anakin, his father.

Wow, listem to me getting all geeky lol.

Happy 15th Blogoversary! I am also so pleased to hear you and your family are feeling a lot better. My own week has seen me feeling much better, too; and it has been a good, quiet week.

Take care, happy reading and all the best with the house move. 🙂

Thank you, Gayathri! 😀 I’m excited to update people on our moving as well. Next week’s Sunday Post should be a fun one IF I have Internet set up by then.

What a relief that everyone is feeling better! I have the terrible habit of thinking (when I don’t feel good) that I will NEVER be normal again. Being clear headed is such a gift after feeling muddled. I love your mani-pedi! I need to get a new one since my toenails are showing some grow out. Plus, I adore the massage! Hope the move goes well and that you will find the perfect new place.

I’m the same way. I feel like I’m going to be sick forever and it won’t end. I’m a huge complainer when I don’t feel well. Corey’s so patient. I’m surprised he hasn’t told me to buck up, lol.

I hope you get your mani-pedi soon and enjoy the massage. 😀

Wait, you don’t know where you’re moving yet?! Ahh that would give me so much anxiety! Your nails are cute! Glad everyone is feeling better.

    • Jenni Elyse
      Jenni Elyse says:

No, we don’t. It’s so stressful! My anxiety is through the roof because of it. We’re going to look at some places tomorrow, hopefully. We can’t pay the deposit and first month’s rent until after we close and we get the money from the sale. I’m not sure how that’s going to affect things if we can’t “hold on” to the place until Thursday. 😩

Happy Blogoversary! 15 YEARS is a great stepping stone for sure. I have heard that Simon and the Homo Sapien Agenda is a fabulous read so I hope that is a win for you. I hope you get to feeling better soon though, sometimes the recovery of COVID can be rough.

I’m so, so glad you are feeling better this week, even with the lingering issues. I hope this week will be even better. Not knowing where you’re you’re moving must be so stressful. I’m a planner so the not knowing would drive me crazy. Hope you manage to read more of Simon this week. I adore that book. Love the mani-pedi! 🙂

Happy blogovesary and glad you’re feeling better! That is great your therapist is doing that. My mom really needs a handicap tag for her car, she has a lot of issues walking, but she won’t fight with her doctor about it. 🙁 Hope that you have a good week!

    • Jenni Elyse
      Jenni Elyse says:

Thank you, Lisa! 😀 I’m sorry to hear that about your mom. She shouldn’t have to fight with her doctor about it. They should just see her limitations. 🙁 I know that’s an ideal world. Sigh.

Thanks, Sophie! 😀 Yes, pets are emotional support. However, we have to provide proof that I need them as emotional support so properties can’t turn us away.

So glad you’re starting to feel better and that you’ve had some clearheaded moments. That’s a magic feeling! I sympathize with your stress and anxiety about the moving. I thought I had commented already – guess not lol

Obi-Wan was fun. So much of it goes over my head though because I didn’t really watch the original films. Loved the deeper look at the Darth origins though. I don’t feel bad for him but it gave a lot of insight to the pain he must be in and why he is the way he is.

Everything Everywhere is WILD but I loved it.

I didn’t realize Corey ended up +. I think the last I talked to you about that he still thought it was allergies. It took me a solid 3 weeks before I wasn’t just falling asleep out of nowhere. I still have moments of fatigue but nothing like before.

Love that your therapist is certifying your cats as support animals.

    • Jenni Elyse
      Jenni Elyse says:

Ha ha! I totally understand. 😀 Yeah, he did test positive about four days after I did. I’m glad that your fatigue has abated, even though it still comes and goes.

I agree with your assessment of OBI-WAN KENOBI. I really enjoyed seeing the origins of Darth and understanding why he turned so “bad.”

Yes, my therapist is the best. I really love working with him.
