That’s it! Another Bout of Books has come and gone. It was a big, fat bust of a reading week for me. I tried to find time to read, but my time was spent focusing on my summer class and packing and cleaning. (For those of you who haven’t been following my blog, my husband and I are in the process of selling our place.)

I hope this week was more successful for other participants than it was for me. Thank you, Amanda and Kelly, for all the hard work you put into making Bout of Books as much fun as it is!

Don’t forget that the next Bout of Books is August 15 to 21, 2022.

Totals

Here are my totals! I only read for a little bit yesterday. It’s better than nothing, right?

How was your week? Did you meet your goals?

Bout of Books 34 is finally here! Even though I have a lot going on this week, I hope I can still spend quite a bit of time reading.

During the week as I participate in Bout of Books, I’ll keep track of my progress on this post. At the end of the week, I’ll post a wrap-up post with my totals.

Sadly, I’m in the process of selling my home and moving, and I packed my library on Friday. For this reason, I won’t be participating in the Instagram challenge this time around. I’ll still be posting some pictures throughout the week, so click here if you’d like to follow me on Instagram .

Bout of Books TBR

I want to read CARVE THE MARK by Veronica Roth. It’s my IRL book club’s pick for May. If I finish CARVE THE MARK, then I want to read the next installment in the Narniad for the Narniathon21, which is THE MAGICIAN’S NEPHEW by CS Lewis. I also want to get caught up on the Wyrd & Wonder read-alongs I’m participating in. For those of you who haven’t been following my blog, we’re reading THE SUMMER TREE by Guy Gavriel Kay and THE DARKEST PARK OF THE FOREST by Holly Black.

Comments: I got my eyes dilated while I was at the eye doctor so I couldn’t read for about six hours. Then, I was in a minor accident later in the day. As you can imagine, I just didn’t feel like reading after that.

Comments: This week isn’t turning out the way I wanted it to. I didn’t get the chance to do any reading today either. It was a very emotional day. I opted to spend time with Corey and watch a couple of movies during my downtime. Hopefully, I can get some reading in tomorrow.

Comments: LOL. Another day without any reading. My brain feels like it’s stuck in a little bit of a fog. I opted to binge watch CANDY on Hulu instead of read because my brain didn’t have to work as much. It’s amazing how much packing takes it out of you.

Final Update on May 1 at 14:32 pm MDT.

I’m so excited! Dewey’s 24-Hour Readathon is finally here! Well, it starts in 6 hours anyway. During the readathon, all my updates will be posted on Instagram. (If you’d like to follow me on Instagram , click here.) Tomorrow, I’ll wrap everything up at the end this post so be sure to check back after the readathon ends.

During past readathons, I’ve gotten together with a couple of friends and we’ve read a couple of hours together, which was a lot of fun! We’re going to do the same this time around too. Around noon my time today, I’ll be over at Suey’s (It’s All About Books) house and shenanigans will be had between Suey, her daughter Tori, Kami (Kami’s Library Thoughts), and me.

Readathon TBR

I want to finish reading DEAR EMMIE BLUE by Lia Louis and start and finish THE HORSE AND HIS BOY, which is April’s installment for the Narniathon21. I also want to start the two read-along books for Wyrd & Wonder the Fifth, which begins tomorrow. The books are THE SUMMER TREE by Guy Gavriel Kay and THE DARKEST PART OF THE FOREST by Holly Black. I may start my IRL book club’s May book, CARVE THE MARK by Veronica Roth too.

Instagram Updates and Challenge Prompts

Here are the pictures I posted on Instagram during the readathon:

Totals

Pages Read: 404 pages
Time Read: 12h 7m 39s (according to Bookly)
Books Finished: DEAR EMMIE BLUE and THE HORSE AND HIS BOY
Books Read: I spent most of my time reading DEAR EMMIE BLUE. I listened to about 25 minutes of THE SUMMER TREE audio book and realized I’ll have to read the physical book because I can’t follow along. I spent quite a few hours reading THE HORSE AND HIS BOY, mostly trying to stay awake at the end of the readathon.
Comments: I read more during this readathon than probably all the other readathons I’ve participated in combined.

How did you do this readathon? Did you meet your goals?

I’m joining the Bout of Books readathon from May 9th to 15th. Since I’m taking a break from school this summer, I decided that Bout of Books would be a great way to spend my time that week.

For those of you who don’t know what Bout of Books is, here’s the official blurb from the Bout of Books blog:

The Bout of Books readathon is organized by Amanda Shofner and Kelly Rubidoux Apple. It’s a weeklong readathon that begins 12:01am Monday, May 9th and runs through Sunday, May 15th in YOUR time zone. Bout of Books is low-pressure. There are reading sprints, Twitter chats, and exclusive Instagram challenges, but they’re all completely optional. For all Bout of Books 34 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog.

From the Bout of Books team

At this point, I don’t know exactly what books will be on my official Bout of Books TBR, but I’ll post an update with my reading choices when Bout of Books begins.

Are you going to join in the fun?

I haven’t participated in Dewey’s 24-Hour Readathon in a while. I wasn’t going to participate this time either because I thought I had a final on April 30th, but I found out my final’s on May 2nd instead. For that reason, I’ve decided to participate in the readathon and I’m really excited about it.

For those of you who’ve never heard of Dewey’s 24-Hour Readathon, here’s some information about it from the official readathon blog:

For 24 hours, we read books, post to various social media: blogs, Twitter, Instagram, Litsy, Reddit, Facebook, Goodreads, and MORE about our reading. We also participate in mini-challenges throughout the day. It happens twice a year, in April and in October. We also have an extra readathon, the Dewey’s Reverse Readathon, which happens in August. The next event is our April Readathon scheduled for April 30, 2022.

The readathon starts at 8am Eastern Daylight Time on April 30th, which is 6am where I live. If you’re not sure what time that is where you live, there’s a time converter on the official blog. Just click Start Times in the menu underneath the header.

At this point, the readathon is too far away for me to have a proposed TBR. I’ll post one (probably on Instagram so be sure to follow me) the closer we get to the date. I don’t usually participate for the whole 24 hours because I need my sleep. I still try to read for as long as I can. Sometimes I’ll hang out with a couple of friends at Suey’s (It’s All About Books) house and we’ll read together for a few hours, which is a lot of fun.

Are you going to participate in the readathon? Are you veteran or will this be your first time?
