This week’s prompt is “School Freebie.” I’ve probably decided on the easiest iteration for this topic. I’ve decided to go with my top ten books set in a school. Here are my favorite choices from books I’ve read:
This was a lot harder than I thought it would be. I haven’t read many books set in a school. At least I found ten.
What about you? Which books were on your list this week? Do we have any in common?
I learned in DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) that life is full of dialectics, or two opposing truths. In this case, the two opposing truths are: 1) I don’t agree with JKR’s stance regarding trans people, and 2) I still love Harry Potter.
The Love Hypothesis and Simon vs <3. So much love for the school setting in those. I did also really like The Ninth House but that didn't feel quite so school like haha.
FANGIRL. I forgot about this book. I was pretty obsessed with Rainbow Rowell after Fangirl and Eleanor and Park. I never did read the spin-off books to Fangirl, though. I guess my obsession came to an end. Sigh.
Harry Potter of course and “A Separate Peace” which I read in high school English and has stayed with me. Did “Catcher in the Rye” take place in a school too? Part of “This Tender Land” was in an Indian school. I’m sure there are more but I’ve already strained my brain enough. LOL
I think Catcher in the Rye takes place mostly in a hotel. The main character does start out in school, though, so it could count. I didn’t like Catcher, though. It’s probably because I didn’t get it, lol. I’ve never heard of A Separate Peace or This Tender Land. I’ll have to look them up and see if they’re books I might enjoy reading. 😀
I love this list! I’ve read 7 of them. I also really love that you remembered that Harmon book. I have read so many of hers and that one didn’t even come to mind today until I saw it on your list.
Yay! 😀 I’m so glad my list resonated with you. And, A Different Blue is the only Harmon book I’ve read so far. I’ve heard such great things about her other books, though.
I can understand wanting more from Speak. 🙂 I read it because of an article came out about how a teacher had it banned in his school district due to its “titillating” nature. I knew the teacher was off his rocker, but I wanted to be able to defend it from a sure knowledge. It was a hard book to read because of what happens to the main character. I’m glad I read it, though.
I want to read Anna and the French kiss at some point. I can’t believe that I missed out The Love Hypothesis from my list. I didn’t put Harry Potter purely because it’s been on lots of my lists recently.
I hope you enjoy Anna when you read it. It’s my favorite of Stephanie Perkins’ books. And, I totally get not including Harry Potter because it’s been on so many of your lists. I feel like it’s on my lists at least two times each month. LOL. 😀
The Love Hypothesis and Simon vs <3. So much love for the school setting in those. I did also really like The Ninth House but that didn't feel quite so school like haha.
Lol. I understand what you mean about The Ninth House. Even though Alex didn’t go to class much in the book, I still loved the Yale setting. 😀
Speak and Wonder are two favorites. I want to read Love Hypothesis and Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda.
Yay for Speak and Wonder! 😀 I hope you love The Love Hypothesis and Simon when you read them.
Wonder was such a sweet story and Augie was precious. Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda is an all-time favorite. Loved that one!
I agree. I love Auggie so hard! And, Simon is such a great story! 😀
Ninth House and Wonder are two very diverse books, but both were favorites of mine. Great selection!

I’m glad you love Ninth House and Wonder. I really enjoyed both so much! 😀
I have Speak on my list this week as well!

Awesome! Speak is such a great book. It’s helped so many people! 😀
So many of my favorites on this list! I loved Ninth House, Simon vs, Fangirl, the Love Hypothesis and the Anna and Isla books so much!
Yay! I love that we have such similar tastes in books! 😀
What a wonderful mixture of books, so with you on Simon and Wonder!
Thanks, Brenda! 😀 I’m glad you like my list!
This has been one of the most popular themes this week. Have you read The Love Hypothesis yet, and, if so, did you like it?

I have read The Love Hypothesis. I adored it. I love the setting, the characters, the banter, etc. It was awesome! 😀
FANGIRL. I forgot about this book. I was pretty obsessed with Rainbow Rowell after Fangirl and Eleanor and Park. I never did read the spin-off books to Fangirl, though. I guess my obsession came to an end. Sigh.

That’s pretty awesome that Fangirl did that for you. And, that’s okay that your obsession came to an end. You enjoyed it while it lasted. 😀
I have The Love Hypothesis and really need to read it soon.
Here is our Top Ten Tuesday. Thank you!
I hope you enjoyed The Love Hypothesis as much as I did. 😀
I did the same topic, and I can’t believe I didn’t think of Harry Potter or The Love Hypothesis! Nice list, Jenny
That’s awesome that we chose the same topic! 😀 Lol. I’m sure there are books I forgot about too.

I’ve read a few of these with varying degrees of success: I loved Harry Potter, I enjoyed Ninth House and I liked Speak….though I was expecting something a bit more from it.
