Top Ten Tuesday #29
Books Linked to Specific Memories or Moments in My Life
This week’s actual prompt is “Hilarious Book Titles,” which didn’t really interest me. I don’t really read comedic books. I’m not opposed to them or anything; I just choose to read other things.
I’ve decided to do an old prompt I didn’t have the chance to participate in. It’s “Top Ten Books Linked to Specific Memories or Moments in My Life.” Each of these books have special meaning to me. My top ten includes:
Books My Dad Read to Me as a Child
Books My Parents Gave Me as a Child
The First Book I Remember Reading on My Own
Books I Read in High School
The First Book I Read While Living Away from Home
The TWO Books that Ignited My Love of Reading
What about you? Which books are linked to specific memories or moments in your life? Do we have any in common?
P.S. I’ll finally be responding to all the comments on my previous posts and this post today. I’ll also start commenting on other blogs again today.
I love this! What a good idea for a post…I might have to steal it sometime. And how fun that you can link certain books to certain times in your life. I still remember books that my dad read with me. 🙂
Thanks, Lark! 😀 I hope you do use this prompt sometime. It’s fun to do and find out which books contribute to others’ lives.
This is such a great topic idea! Books really do have a way of tying to specific periods in our lives.
Thanks, Leah! 😀 Books are awesome that way, aren’t they?
I remember reading Number the Stars in grade school, I think it was around 3rd or 4th grade. We read it as a class. That was in the ’90s, and I still remember how it made me feel.
I read Number the Stars in 1990 when I was 12. Like you, I still remember how it made me feel. Because of it, I’ve always been interested in WWII stories.
I always loved reading, but Twilight did get me searching out new authors and series. It was a great book for many of us.
I’m glad it help you expand your reading. 😀 I read every now and then before I read Twilight. After, though, I couldn’t get enough.
My Father’s Dragon has such a bright, eye-catching cover!
The cover is lovely, isn’t it? I’ve always loved it. When I was younger, I did think it was weird that there was a lion on the cover instead of a dragon, though. LOL. 😀
I love this topic! So many books with so many memories. Twilight catapulted my love of reading again and I went to all the movie premieres at like midnight. haha! Will always love it for the memories!
I went to all the midnight movie premieres too. 😀 I think the movies got better with each one.
What a wonderful topic! You should submit it!
Thanks, Lisa! 😀 I will.
What a wonderful day of reminiscing what was important in your life so far, at least what literature. I can tell by the books you chose that you are at least one generation below me. LOL
Thanks for visiting my TTT this week.
It was fun reminiscing about the books that mean a lot to me. 😀 And, that’s cool that I’m a generation behind you. I’m a generation behind most of my siblings too. (I’m 23 years younger than my oldest sister.)
Sadly, I have no book memories aside from visiting the public library and picking up books to read.
I love The Secret Garden & Harry Potter.
Thanks for dropping by my blog.
Have a lovely day.
I’m sorry you don’t have any book memories other than visiting the public library. I hope that’s because you read so much that you couldn’t possibly keep track of all that you read as a kid. 😀
I love this topic, so glad you did this one! Harry Potter and Twilight definitely ignited my love of reading too!
Thanks, Lindsey! 😀 It was a lot of fun to do. I’ve discovered through this post that a lot of people owe Harry Potter and Twilight their love of reading. That’s just so cool to me.
I love this topic. Books I remember my dad reading to me definitely hold a special place in my heart.
Thanks, Suzanne! 😀 I know my dad read more than the two books I have listed to me, but these two are the only ones I can remember. I love them. <3
