Sunday News #50

Sunday Post and Sunday Salon are blog news memes hosted at Caffeinated Reviewer and Reader Buzz, respectively. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week on your blog, and showcase books and other things.
Feeling

I’m feeling tired. Although I’m over my cold, I haven’t been sleeping very well. With the help of my doctor, I’m weaning myself off a problematic med that’s for depression. One of its main side effects is drowsiness so doctors often prescribe it to patients with a history of depression and sleeping difficulties. I’d stay on it if it didn’t make me so sleepy. I have a hard time getting out of bed before 11:00am most mornings because of the med.

Blogging

I had another really good blogging week. Here’s what I posted this week:

Reading

I’ll finish rereading THE STAR SCROLL by Melanie Rawn today. It’s even better than I remember. I’ve also listened to a couple of hours of THE BALLAD OF SONGBIRDS AND SNAKES audiobook.

Listening

Corey grew up on 60s and 70s rock so that’s what he listens to unless he’s in the mood for something more recent. Without fail, “Fortunate Son” by Creedence Clearwater Revival comes on every single time we get in the car. Things could be worse. At least it’s a good song.

Watching

Corey and I are in that bingeless state you get in after finishing a mind-blowing show. We’re currently trying to decide what to watch next.

We’ve been rewatching a few of our favorite shows, like BLUEY. (Yes, we watch BLUEY and no, we don’t have kids.)

We’ve also been watching a couple of favorite movies, like THE EMPEROR’S NEW GROOVE and NATIONAL TREASURE (1 and 2). We also watched Order of the Phoenix because my BFF’s daughter finished the book and hadn’t seen the movie yet.

Loving

I love when Corey goes out of town because I get to eat SUSHI!!!

For those of you who don’t know, Corey’s deathly allergic, and I mean deathly, to shellfish. He’s so allergic that he’ll have an anaphylactic reaction if I’ve eaten it and breathed on him or if he walks into a restaurant or grocery store with shellfish. Needless to say, I only get to eat sushi or shellfish when Corey’s away for at least 24 hours. Have I mentioned that shellfish is my favorite?

Wanting

I want to make some brownies or chocolate chip cookies. I’ve been in the mood to bake but haven’t really given in yet.

Needing

I need to eat some breakfast.

How was your week? Anything exciting happen?

Yeah. I enjoy listening to most of the music from those eras. I prefer grunge, punk, and alternative rock though. Corey always teases me that the angrier the music the more I like it, lol.

Happy New Year! I hope you find your energy soon — that is such a difficult thing to manage, and, in our culture, we don’t give ourselves much credit for successful navigation.

Thanks, Joy! 😀 Happy New Year to you as well. And, agreed. Sometimes I feel shame because I have a hard time getting up in the morning. I have to tell myself that I’m doing the best I can with the tools I have. It usually helps.

I like Credence as well. I just think it’s funny that every time we’re in the car, “Fortunate Son” plays from my husband’s playlist.

I did enjoy the sushi. It was delicious as always!

I totally get that. I wanted to come off my meds and talked to my doctor about it. We decided to keep me on my main meds because I have trouble with SAD. As long as I take those, I should be fine coming off the one that makes me sleepy. I hope you have a good week too!

Oh, The Emperor’s New Groove is such a great show! I cannot imagine the difficulty of living with such a deathly allergy. I’m sorry for Corey but happy that you got to have sushi while he’s out of town! I’ve been meaning to bake too but putting it off for a while. I’ve written it into my planner for tomorrow though! In pen! So I must do it!

Have a wonderful week ahead, Jenni!

It really is, isn’t it? So fun and clever. Plus llamas! 😀 (I love llamas.) It’s pretty hard to live with his allergy. We have very little choice in where we go out to eat, especially since he’s allergic to other foods as well. I should write baking something in my planner for tomorrow as well. That’s such a good idea! I hope you have a wonderful week too! 😀

My week was relatively quiet, and I am okay with that! I am not a seafood eater, but my husband is. Needless to say, he doesn’t get it very often either (but, he could, I am not allergic, to my knowledge). Sorry your husband is, that stinks.

I love quite weeks. I can’t do them every week because I need to be social and get out to stave off my depression. No problem. I’ve dealt with it for 25 years. I’m sad I don’t get shellfish as often as I’d like, but it’s worth it because I’d rather spend time with Corey. 😀

It’s hard to get meds sorted out just right. I hope yours are figured out soon.

We’ve just finished up a tv series and we don’t know where to go next. We missed a lot of good tv during the 90s and after, so maybe I need to take suggestions.

    • Jenni Elyse
      Jenni Elyse says:

Thanks, Deb! 😀 I totally get going back and watching the classics during the 90s and later. Neither of us watched all of FRIENDS so we could start there. I’m not sure Corey’s interested, though. That’s the main problem. Finding something we’re both interested in, lol.

I love classic rock which in my era used to be just ROCK. (ouch!) Sushi isn’t on my favorites list although the last two men I’ve dated love it. Oysters too which I won’t touch. My oldest grandson watches Bluey and his parents like it too. It seems like a great show although I often need subtitles. The Emperor’s New Groove is such a fun movie!

I do like most classic rock genre songs. I just prefer punk, grunge, alternative, etc. rock. Corey often teases me that the angrier music the better for me. LOL.

I personally do not like mussels, so no oysters, scallops, or clams. Although, before I met and married Corey, I loved clam chowder. Not so much anymore. My favorite is crab. I also love shrimp, lobster’s okay, and I like most fish. I do have to be in the mood for salmon, though.

Thanks, Emma! 😀 I am feeling less tired. I decided to stay on the med because I can’t handle the lack of sleep. I’m just trying to devise ways to get up in the morning despite the extreme drowsiness.
Even though I’m over the cold or flu from last week, I now have a sinus infection. Ugh. Thankfully, my doctor’s calling in some antibiotics to my pharmacy.

Baking cookies might make you feel better. 🙂 Lack of sleep is no fun. I have had my share of that. I hope it gets better soon. Wishing you a wonderful week.

I am glad you are over your cold at last. I hope getting off the problematic helps with your being overly tired. I do like “Fortunate Son”. I have been re-watching some of the older episodes of Doctor Who and started the new Percy Jackson series. I am glad you were able to enjoy some Sushi while Cory is away. That’s a definite perk when he goes out of town! I took tomorrow off work to spend with my daughter on her last day of winter break. Not sure yet what we will do, but we’ll take full advantage of the time off. Take care and have a great week!

Thank you so much! 😀 I like “Fortunate Son” too. I just think it’s funny that it always plays when we’re in the car.

I need to watch Doctor Who at some point. It seems like it would be fun. And, I still haven’t read any of the Percy Jackson series so I don’t necessarily want to watch the show yet. I may never get to either, lol.

I did enjoy some sushi. It was delicious and I’m satisfied until the next time. 😀

I hope you had a great day with your daughter on the last day of break!

I hope you feel better after sorting out your meds. Being tired all the time is no fun. My grandkids sometimes have Bluey on and so I end up catching bits of it when I’m around them. It’s funny, and a lot is for adults. Stuff the kids wouldn’t get and I crack up! The Emperors New Groove is pretty funny too! That’s kind of scary that Corey is so allergic to shellfish! I can understand why you stay away from it. I don’t like sushi (my husband loves it!) but I love crab legs. I hope you enjoy your sushi! 🙂

    • Jenni Elyse
      Jenni Elyse says:

Thanks, Rachel! 😀 And, yes, Bluey is totally for adults as well. I love it so much!

Crab legs are the best! I love them even more than I love sushi, but they’re much more expensive so I usually opt for sushi. LOL.

Thanks, Stormi! 😀 I actually now have a sinus infection. Luckily, my doctor’s calling in some antibiotics to my pharmacy. ‘Tis the season, lol.
