My Thoughts
Why did it take me so long to get to CITY OF HEAVENLY FIRE?! It was so good! I absolutely adored it. It was everything I wanted it to be and more. I wish I had read it sooner than this, but now I’m sad I’m done. It’s such a fantastic ending to the Mortal Instruments series. I’m so glad Clare decided to add the last three books to this series.
Because the Infernal Devices trilogy is so closely related to the last three books in the Mortal Instrument series, I love that Clare doesn’t spoil the reader and come out and say who Brother Zachariah is. She hints at it so if you’ve read the prequel trilogy, then you know. It’s stroke of genius on her part.
Update: When read this for a second time, I listened to the audiobook and really enjoyed it. I thought Sophie Turner was an amazing narrator. She’s really good with accents, which I didn’t know. Jason Dohring was awesome as well.

My Thoughts
I absolutely adored ON THE FENCE. I loved the relationship that Charlie had with Braden and loved watching it build from friendship into something more. I loved watching Charlie learn who she wanted to be. And, even though our moms passed away under different circumstances, I really felt for her and related to her. Her feelings of grief felt spot on.

I adored ELIZA AND HER MONSTERS and the double entendre of the title. I sobbed as I read parts of Eliza’s story. Even though I’m not an introvert, per se, I related to Eliza and Wallace in so many ways. I shared some of their monsters in high school and reading about them made me want to hug them both and let them know that life gets better. I really wish her parents had been more supportive of her personality differences from them. I’m glad they got there in the end, but they made me angry.

My Thoughts
Even though READY PLAYER ONE was only a so-so read for me, I’m glad I read it. I adored reading about all the 80s nostalgia. I felt like I was reliving my childhood. I’d agree with the characters when they talked about “our” favorites and then I’d get mad at them when they dissed one of mine. My biggest pet peeve with the story / writing was all the info dumps. Whenever Wade got hold of a new technology, I felt like Cline couldn’t help himself. He just went on and on about the technology he created and it was a little much.

My Thoughts
I liked ARTEMIS for the most part. I thought it was interesting and it makes me want to read THE MARTIAN, which I was on the fence about before. I liked the main character for the most part, but she read more like a teenage boy than a 23-year-old woman. Despite sounding more like a teenage boy, I liked her sassiness and don’t-take-shit-from-anyone attitude. The story kept my interest as I really wanted to know what was going on, who was behind everything, and what would happen in the end. I even made some guesses as to who the bad guy was. I was way off.
