My Thoughts

Earlier this year, I told my therapist I was having a hard time following through with my goals to exercise more and eat healthier. He suggested I read ATOMIC HABITS, stating that most of the things Clear had to say were spot on. I thought Clear had a lot of great ideas, like habit stacking. To my surprise, a lot of his ideas align really well with DBT skills.

My Thoughts

Some of the stories were heartwarming, but for the most part, FUNDAMENTALLY FEMALE was preachy and thought too highly of itself. Thankfully, it was a quick read.

My Thoughts

While I’m glad I decided to read THE LITTLE BOOK OF HYGGE, I found it to be a bit repetitive. I did love the concept of Hygge, though, and would like to adapt a more Hyggeligt lifestyle. I think it would definitely help me combat Seasonal Affective Disorder during the winter months.

My Thoughts

As an “Aspergirl” myself, I wanted ASPERGIRLS to be an eye-opening, life-changing experience so many others seem to have had while reading it. Unfortunately, I had a very hard time with it. I related to some of what Simone wrote about. However, I mainly felt like I couldn’t relate to the stories / experiences because I don’t experience life exactly the way they do.

Update: In 2020, I discovered that I’m not an Aspergirl. I’ve been diagnosed Borderline Personality Disorder which often presents itself like being on the spectrum. This makes so much more sense to me why I didn’t connect with this book when I read it.

My Thoughts

Business books aren’t my cup of tea at all. However, I was asked to read THE ICE CREAM MAKER by my boss, so I couldn’t really refuse to read it. I found the book very readable at least. It only took a couple of hours.

As far as the message goes, it had some good points and it has given me some things to discuss with my boss. But, I honestly think these books are better served at the top than at the bottom. Reading this reminded me how much my opinions don’t matter and how much I’m undervalued in my organization. I also thought it was a bit unrealistic, but who am I to say that since I don’t know the first thing about business. I just show up to work and do my job, lol.
