My Thoughts

Reading THE MIDNIGHT LIBRARY four years ago was the most profound reading experience I’ve ever had. That book spoke to me like no other had. When I found out Matt Haig wrote a companion novel in the same universe I felt equal parts excitement and trepidation. Would THE MIDNIGHT TRAIN live up to the experience I had had with THE MIDNIGHT LIBRARY? Yes, it most definitely would.

I related to Nora a little better than Wilbur, but I still loved his journey on the Midnight Train. I thought it was an interesting look back at his life–what it was and what it could have been (if only). I liked that Haig illustrated how much simple decisions and actions can affect our future and relationships, for the good and the bad. I also liked the idea that Wilbur was able to influence his younger self into making decisions that would ultimately help him not waste his life and focus on the wrong priorities. His journey was a good reminder to live in the now.
