Sunday News #50

Sunday Post and Sunday Salon are blog news memes hosted at Caffeinated Reviewer and Reader Buzz, respectively. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week on your blog, and showcase books and other things.
Feeling

I’m feeling tired. Although I’m over my cold, I haven’t been sleeping very well. With the help of my doctor, I’m weaning myself off a problematic med that’s for depression. One of its main side effects is drowsiness so doctors often prescribe it to patients with a history of depression and sleeping difficulties. I’d stay on it if it didn’t make me so sleepy. I have a hard time getting out of bed before 11:00am most mornings because of the med.

Blogging

I had another really good blogging week. Here’s what I posted this week:

Reading

I’ll finish rereading THE STAR SCROLL by Melanie Rawn today. It’s even better than I remember. I’ve also listened to a couple of hours of THE BALLAD OF SONGBIRDS AND SNAKES audiobook.

Listening

Corey grew up on 60s and 70s rock so that’s what he listens to unless he’s in the mood for something more recent. Without fail, “Fortunate Son” by Creedence Clearwater Revival comes on every single time we get in the car. Things could be worse. At least it’s a good song.

Watching

Corey and I are in that bingeless state you get in after finishing a mind-blowing show. We’re currently trying to decide what to watch next.

We’ve been rewatching a few of our favorite shows, like BLUEY. (Yes, we watch BLUEY and no, we don’t have kids.)

We’ve also been watching a couple of favorite movies, like THE EMPEROR’S NEW GROOVE and NATIONAL TREASURE (1 and 2). We also watched Order of the Phoenix because my BFF’s daughter finished the book and hadn’t seen the movie yet.

Loving

I love when Corey goes out of town because I get to eat SUSHI!!!

For those of you who don’t know, Corey’s deathly allergic, and I mean deathly, to shellfish. He’s so allergic that he’ll have an anaphylactic reaction if I’ve eaten it and breathed on him or if he walks into a restaurant or grocery store with shellfish. Needless to say, I only get to eat sushi or shellfish when Corey’s away for at least 24 hours. Have I mentioned that shellfish is my favorite?

Wanting

I want to make some brownies or chocolate chip cookies. I’ve been in the mood to bake but haven’t really given in yet.

Needing

I need to eat some breakfast.

How was your week? Anything exciting happen?

I never read or listened to Ballad of Song Birds and Snakes but I did go see the movie (despite the fact that I’m deftly afraid of snakes). And guess what? I spent the whole time jumping clean out of seat. 😂. I don’t know what I was thinking going to that movie. Have a great week!

Oh, yeah, BoSaS is definitely not for those with a fear of snakes. 🙁 I’m sorry it scared you so much. That’s how I feel about movies with spiders in them.

I hope you get your fill of sushi while Corey is away! Good for you for the self control re- baking too. Have a great week ahead.

I made some cookies this weekend and it was fun. I always want to bake, but then don’t actually summon up the energy to get it all out, lol. Hope you have a great week .

Fun! 😀 I love to bake as well. I just can’t be on my feet for very long because of some knee and hip pain. I’m starting physical therapy this week so, hopefully, soon I’ll be able to do more on my feet.

I hope you can find a substitute med that doesn’t cause you to sleep all morning…that’s unfortunate…And ugh! only being able to eat something you love when your husband is away for a day sounds so frustrating! I didn’t think allergies so severe existed.

Nothing wrong in watching kid shows. Me and my husband shamelessly love Pingu (I don’t know if it ever aired in the US…).

Thanks, Roberta! 😀 I actually decided to stay on the drowsy med. I couldn’t handle the no sleep thing. I’m now just trying to figure out how I can get up at a decent time.

I haven’t heard of Pingu, but I’ll look it up. 😀

Hi Elyse thank you for stopping by my blog for Sunday Salon. Oh no, I cannot imagine being that allergic to any kind of food. Poor Corey but glad you get to enjoy your favorite! Have a wonderful week!

Thanks, Iliana! 😀 Yeah, allergies are awful. I’m allergic to a couple of types of medicine, but not food. I’m so glad I’m not. I can’t imagine not being able to eat something or even being so cautious about cross-contamination. Sure I worry about those things for my husband, but it would be weird if it was for me.

Kevin & I watch kids shows/movies all the time.

I hope you find a med that works – that can be tricky.

Happy New Year Jenni! (& enjoy your sushi!)

Yay! That makes me happy that you and Kevin do. 😀

I decided to stay on the med because I couldn’t handle the lack fo sleep. I’ll probably have to go to a rehab to get off it, lol. The sushi was fabulous. Happy New Year to you as well!

Thanks, Jen! 😀 I actually decided to just stay on the meds because I couldn’t function without the sleep. I’m putting things in place to help me get up at a more reasonable hour. Let’s hope it works. 🤞🏻

I loved BLUEY too and use my grandsons as an excuse to watch it. In fact, I often tell them they can only watch TV if it is Bluey. Ha!

I am so behind on my comments I just decided to pop by and say Happy New Year and I’m so glad we are blog friends. Have a wonderful week!

Ohmygoshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh why didn’t you invite me over for sushi night??? I haven’t had sushi since at least 2016! Because I was in Arkansas.

Hope you’re able to get yourself some good solid sleep sooooooooooooooon.

If I were in California or you were in Utah, I would’ve definitely invited you. 😀 I can only imaging how living in Arkansas dampened your eating adventures, lol.
