Title: Peanuts Guide to Life PEANUTS GUIDE TO LIFE was a fun, quick read other than the foreword by Bill Cosby. (Blech.) My favorite piece of advice was said by Snoopy: “Keep looking up… That’s the secret of life…”
Title: The Little Book of Hygge While I’m glad I decided to read THE LITTLE BOOK OF HYGGE, I found it to be a bit repetitive. I did love the concept of Hygge, though, and would like to adapt a more Hyggeligt lifestyle. I think it would definitely help me combat Seasonal Affective Disorder during the winter months.
Title: Orphan Island I liked the LOST-esque feel of ORPHAN ISLAND (e.g. more questions than answers, supernatural elements, mysterious island), but I didn’t really care for any of the characters. I couldn’t get fully onboard with the story. Partly, I think this was due to the age of the main character. I just got annoyed with her whining and wanted it to stop.
Title: The Marriage Pact I really enjoyed reading THE MARRIAGE PACT even though it was very over-the-top. Each time I put it down, I wanted to pick it up again so I could find out what happened. I did feel the book was a little too long and the ending wasn’t as satisfying as I wanted it to be.
Title: The Joy Luck Club THE JOY LUCK CLUB was a very interesting read. I really enjoyed the nods to Chinese and Chinese-American culture. I especially enjoyed reading the mothers’ stories and their hardships in China and how they came to the U.S. It was interesting to see the differences between the mothers and the daughters.
