My Thoughts
I really enjoyed REBECCA. The story was very suspenseful and intriguing. The unnamed heroine reminded me of how I’d act or feel if I were in her situation. I felt like I could relate to her a lot, which helped me like the story even more. There were also a few twists that added to the depth of the story and caught me off guard.
“Last night I dreamt I went to Manderley again” is the book’s opening line and I guess it’s quite famous. This line also set the tone of the story. The heroine, who was also the narrator, recounts her experience at Manderley. I thought it was quite interesting that the end of the story was actually the beginning. After all the drama was over, I reread the first chapter so I could read about the main characters during a happier, less stressful time.
The edition of the book I read actually had the original epilogue with it. Because the name of the heroine’s husband was changed, it was not included as part of the story. In fact, in this edition, du Maurier explained she rewrote the epilogue into the first couple of chapters of the book. I enjoyed reading the epilogue because it included details the published version didn’t have.

My Thoughts
I thought THE THIRTEENTH TALE was very intriguing. I found myself wanting to know how everything fit together. Miss Winter’s past had such an element of mystery to it that I couldn’t help but wonder what was really going on. When I finished it, I wasn’t disappointed and I came away with a satisfied feeling. While it wasn’t my favorite book or anything, it was definitely a good read.

My Thoughts
I loved THE STAR SCROLL. I couldn’t put the book down. It was a fantastic addition to the Dragon Prince trilogy. The story had elements of romance, adventure, betrayal, conflict, and high fantasy. I liked that this book takes place 14 years after DRAGON PRINCE. It was interesting to see a lot of Rohan and Sioned’s goals for the princedoms come to fruition. It was also equally interesting to see the consequences of what happened between Roelstra and Ianthe, and Rohan and Sioned.

My Thoughts
I’m quite glad I read this story, even though the series is unfinished. LEVEN THUMPS AND THE GATEWAY TO FOO was a fun, quick read, filled with lots of fantasy, adventure, and magic. Even though the series has received some criticism for being a Harry-Potter knockoff, that couldn’t be further from the truth. Yes, Leven is an orphan that lives with his horrible aunt and uncle and the fate of reality rests on his shoulders, but that’s the only similarity between him and the infamous Harry Potter.

My Thoughts
When I was in middle school, one of my teachers either read or assigned THE WESTING GAME to our class. I don’t remember reading it completely because a lot of the story seemed unfamiliar, and at that time, I hated reading. The only thing I remembered about the book was that the clues had something to do with the song “America, the Beautiful” and I remember the name Berthe Erica Crow.
Ever since I rediscovered this book back in February, I wanted to read it (possibly again). I thought the story was hard to follow at times because of the constant change in voice. It felt a bit choppy and haphazard. I did enjoy reading it despite that. It was a fun fast read and I loved the walk down memory lane. The story kept me guessing until the very end so that was something.
