My Thoughts
I loved SUNRUNNER’S FIRE and I loved Melanie Rawn’s writing. I loved the epic fantasy-ness of this series thanks to the awesome world building, characters, relationships, political intrigue, and the ethical / moral issues the books explore.
While DRAGON PRINCE is my favorite book in the series because I adored Rohan and Sioned, I loved this story because it’s the end of the trilogy and most of the events that had been brewing from the beginning came to an end.
One of my favorite aspects of the trilogy was the farahd’im (Sunrunners) and diarmahd’im (Sorcerers). People born with faradhi gifts were sent to Goddess Keep to be trained in the sunrunning arts of weaving light using the power of the sun and moon, calling fire and wind, and conjuring images of the future. Whereas, the diarmahd’im had been in hiding for hundreds of years because of their differences. They also wove light, called fire and wind (plus earth and water), and produced conjurings. But, they used the forbidden power of the stars.
I loved that the Sorcerers had a more central role in this story. We didn’t know much about them before so I loved learning more about their powers and finding out why they hate Sunrunners as much as they do.
At this point, I’d love to read the Dragon Star trilogy, which is a sister trilogy to this series and follows Pol, Rohan and Sioned’s son, more closely. I’m excited to find out what happens.
Update: As of 2026, I still haven’t read the Dragon Star trilogy. I actually reread the Dragon Prince trilogy in 2024 so I could read it. What’s that saying about best-laid plans? Lol.

My Thoughts
I absolutely adored A COMPANY OF SWANS. The love story was so sweet and the heroine and hero were amazing. All the characters, even the ones I despised, were written so well. I thought they were so exciting and evoked every emotion I could feel based on their actions. I found myself laughing out loud at a few spots and grinning at others.
Harriet has become one of my favorite characters. I loved her courage and defiance. I especially loved watching her confidence grow the more time she was away from her father and aunt’s domineering and antiquated ideals. I adored Rom and I loved his and Harriet’s relationship. The sexual tension between them was so palpable. The anticipation of how their romance would work out in the end was so much fun to experience.
My only disappointment, as with many other stories, was that it ended too soon. I always want more.

THESE IS MY WORDS was amazing. It’s a semi-fictional story about the author’s great-grandmother, Sarah Agnes Prine. After reading this story, I’d love to know what parts were real and what parts weren’t.
I loved Sarah’s character so much. She was tenacious, ambitious, and determined to better herself from the circumstances she was born into. Her story was full of romance, heartache, adventure, and humor. I felt like I was right in the middle, cheering her on. I loved the little bit of history mingled with a heart-warming and inspiring story.

My Thoughts
TWO LITTLE GIRLS IN BLUE was definitely not my favorite book by Mary Higgins Clark. In fact, it was probably my least favorite of all the books I’ve read by her and I’ve read a lot.
I did enjoy reading about the concept of twin telepathy and I liked the premise of the story. I also felt some suspense and I wanted to get to the end so I could see the resolution. However, the story didn’t keep me on the edge of my seat or second-guessing who I thought the “bad guy” was like her other books have done. It just fell flat and felt a little too contrived.

My Thoughts
I started reading THE HUNGER GAMES two days ago and I finished it yesterday. I literally couldn’t put the book down because the story was so compelling and intense. I was on the edge of my seat for practically the entire book. Before I started the book, I watched an interview of Collins talking about how she got the idea for the story and it was fascinating.
I loved the characters, especially Katniss, Peeta, Rue, Haymitch, and Cinna. The ending killed me because it’s not a cliffhanger exactly, but it still made me want to know what happens next. Unfortunately, I have to wait until September for CATCHING FIRE’s release to find that out. Why do I start these series before all the books are release?!
Katniss was such a strong and likable character. I loved the suspense and the little bit of romance. I thought Collins di an excellent job balancing the hope and compassion with the horror and barbarism. She has also done an excellent job of setting up for the rest of the story. I can tell there’s a love triangle brewing, which I’m not too excited about but I’ll just have to hope that it’ll go the way I want it to. September can’t come fast enough!
Update: I’ve listened to both audiobooks produced for the first three books when I’ve reread this series. The first audiobook was narrated by Carolyn McCormick and the second was narrated by Tatiana Maslany. Both do a great job, but I prefer the second audiobook the best.
