My Thoughts
I had to read THE ACCIDENTAL TOURIST for my English class this semester. This isn’t a book I would’ve chosen to read on my own. However, I’m glad I read it because I liked the realness of the story. It did take a little while for me to get into it, but that’s okay.
I appreciated how Tyler was able to show that grief is personal and that it changes everyone. I liked the juxtaposition of rigidity with spontaneity and isolation with connection. Despite the fact that I didn’t like the MC all that much, I thought there was a lot to learn from him in processing grief, moving on, and living a fulfilling life.
