My Thoughts

INSOMNIA was such a fantastically clever, dark, creepy–in a not scary but very suspenseful way–story I really enjoyed the thrill ride Insomnia took me on.

I loved the premise of the story and concept of Night Walkers who can hop from dream to dream. I thought it was so clever and made such an interesting tale. I loved Parker as a character and loved watching him figure out his power and how to use it. I’m excited to see where the story goes.

My Thoughts

I absolutely adored EDENBROOKE. I was hooked from the beginning and I couldn’t stop thinking about the story in between reads. It reminded me of how much I love romances–the tension between the two characters in love, the chase and anticipation, non-love triangle romances, the gentleman caller, and especially the first kiss.

The romance was so swoony. I loved the flirting and bantering between Philip and Marianne. The dialogue between those two was a treat to read. I also loved the setting and wish I could go to the Edenbrooke manor myself.

My favorite part of EDENBROOKE was the last chapter and a half. Even with this being a clean romance, it was so hot and left me wanting for more. I’m pretty sure the kissing scene is going to become my all-time favorite kissing scene. I loved it so much that I’ve already reread it at least five times. The imagery is a chef’s kiss and it makes me giddy.

I’ll definitely be reading this book over and over again.

My Thoughts

Cole intrigued me in both EVERNEATH and EVERBOUND. I always questioned his motives and I wanted to know more about what he thought. I wasn’t disappointed with NEVERFALL. I definitely got to know Cole and his motives more in this short 100-page novella. There are answers to questions I never thought about but now I’m glad I know because it helps me solidify my feelings for Cole better. And, there are a few small reveals from EVERNEATH that I found fascinating.

The thing I’m wondering now is whether the events in NEVERFALL will affect the third book. I want to know if any of the people, or especially the knowledge we learn, affect how things will play out, how Nikki will accomplish her goals. It’ll definitely be interesting to see.

My Thoughts

The journey to the Everneath in EVERBOUND was awesome. I loved seeing the world Brodi built and experiencing the Everneath for myself. The descriptions brought it to life so much so that I’d never want to go there. It’s one scary place if you’re a human, and even if you’re an Everliving.

Cole surprised me in this book. During EVERNEATH, I wasn’t quite sure what to make of him. I was intrigued by him and his motives. But, I never went as far as to say that I “liked” him. I couldn’t decide what I felt about him. But, in this book, I found myself drawn to him. I wanted to believe he had no ulterior motives. But, he’s Cole, and just like in the previous book, I had a very strong love / hate relationship with him. I’m very interested to see what he’s going to be like in the third book and how his character will play into the events of the third book.

I loved how Brodi brought Jack into this book even though he’s stuck in the Tunnels. I was worried I wouldn’t get enough of Jack this time around, but he was still very much a part of the story. And, I was reminded of how much I loved him in the previous book and how much I want him and Nikki to end up together. Nikki was just as likable in this book. I loved that she still took responsibility for her actions. She didn’t blame others, except perhaps Cole, for her predicament. And, she did everything she could to right her wrongs.

At this point, I’m so looking forward to the third book. There’s so much potential and I can’t wait to see how it all goes down.

My Thoughts

I’m glad I was finally able to read WITH A NAME LIKE LOVE. It’s a very heart-warming story about love, family, and friendship. I really grew to love the characters. I loved Ollie and most of her family. I also really loved Jimmy and felt for him with the circumstances he and his mother were in. It was fun to watch the two develop a friendship, figure things out, and come up with a way to fix what was going on.

The story doesn’t focus on racism, which you might expect taking place in Arkansas in the 1950s. Racism was there a little bit, but most of all, the story showed all forms of bigotry and hate, especially associated with things or people that were different from the way people thought they should be. It showed how bigotry and hate clouded them from seeing or even wanting to see the truth.

What I loved most of all about the book was the message of love. I really enjoyed the religious undertones as well and I also loved that the religious message wasn’t in-your-face preachy. It was just used to help propel the story forward and illustrate that love can conquer anything if you let it into your heart.
