Sunday News #23

Sunday Post and Sunday Salon are blog news memes hosted at Caffeinated Reviewer and Reader Buzz, respectively. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week on your blog, and showcase books and other things.
Feeling

Corey, his dad, and I are all finally feeling well enough to be considered “over” COVID. We each have some lingering symptoms, though. Corey and his dad still have the cough, and I still have a headache and some brain fog. Corey and I also have the fatigue everyone talks about.

My brain fog and headache may or may not be COVID related. Just before I got COVID, I started weaning myself off one of my medications (with my doctor’s help, of course). I’ve suffered cognitive decline in the last few years because of this medication and I miss the ability to memorize without effort. Coming off this medication, even though I’m doing it slowly, is causing some not so fun withdrawal symptoms (other than the headache and brain fog). Hopefully, they won’t last too long.

Blogging

This week on the blog:

Reading

I finally read and finished a book this week. I read THE MIDNIGHT LIBRARY by Matt Haig and it was the most profound reading experience I’ve ever had. I’m going to start SIMON VS. THE HOMO SAPIENS AGENDA by Becky Albertalli today if I can actually concentrate on reading.

Listening

This week, I’ve had “Flagpole Sitta” by Harvey Danger stuck in my head. I have no idea why, but the chorus just keeps in my head over and over. I’ve tried listening to other music to get this song out of my head to no avail.

Watching

Corey and I watched THE CARD COUNTER on HBO Max. It was a lot different than either of us expected. It was really boring and a little bit weird. I wish we decided not to finish it, but Corey enjoyed it up until the end. I thought Oscar Isaac did a great job in the role. It’s not surprising, though, because he’s an amazing actor.

Loving

I love not being sick anymore.

Wanting

I want to sell our place without any major difficulties. I’m still a little anxious something’s going to screw up the deal.

On Friday, the appraiser came and, as far as we know, that went well. We also had the inspection yesterday. There are a few minor things that need to be fixed. We’re going to negotiate allowances so the buyers can fix these things when they take possession of our place. Hopefully, both of us will be happy.

We currently have 11 days until we close and 13 days until we move. I hope it all goes smoothly.

Needing

I need my brain to clear. Right now, I can’t concentrate on much. It took several sittings to write this post. I’m afraid I’m not going to get caught up in my class from being sick last week because of this medication withdrawal.

How was your week? Anything exciting happen?

Sorry to hear you have all been poorly! I do hope you all feel better soon, especially your brain fog, and that the house move will go as easily and smoothly as possible. 🤞🙏❤

Take care and happy reading 🙂

I hope these lingering affects don’t last long, but YAY for being well. I’m sure weaning off the med is causing some of it also. I still want to avoid Covid if I can (probably can’t) because what I’ve heard of it has made me nervous. Not like a cold at all. You’re making me want to read “The Midnight Library!” I wish we would choose it for BC but too many of our members don’t like that genre.

Book clubs can be frustrating because the members aren’t always willing to branch out and try something new. I hope you do get a chance to read THE MIDNIGHT LIBRARY, whether it’s for book club or not. 🙂

I also hope you’re able to avoid COVID. It’s not fun.

I am so glad to hear you enjoyed The Midnight Library, it is the book club pick for COYER and I’ll be reading it over the next week. I hope you will continue to feel better and the move will go well.

I hope you enjoy THE MIDNIGHT LIBRARY as much as I did. 🙂 I look forward to hearing your thoughts about it. Thanks for the well wishes about moving and feeling better.

Fingers crossed for the house sale and weaning off the medication that is causing you so many issues. I look forward to reading your review of The Midnight Library.

Glad you’re all getting better! I know one of my medications when I don’t take it just one day has side effects, but I’d love to be able to stop it at some point. I hope that your moving past it gets better a lot quicker! I also hope your house sale goes smoothly and perfectly! It is such a crazy business these days with realty. I guess you already have something lined up to move to, because that is one that is a worry for me even knowing how quickly I could probably sell my house. Have a great week, and thanks for visiting my Sunday post on Lisa Loves Literature earlier!

Thanks, Lisa! 😀 I also have a couple of medications that I start feeling withdrawal symptoms if I miss just one dose or take the dose 26 hours later rather than 24 hours. Medication is such a finicky thing and it’s so annoying to deal with. I hope you can stop your medication at some point and that it’s not too difficult to do so.

I really feel for you right now. It sounds very stressful to have brain fog and headaches and on top of that your home is up for sale. I hope that things get better for you soon. Take care.

Glad to hear you guys are mostly over Covid. Although I know what you mean- being “over” it is a relative term. I’ve heard really good things about Midnight Library.

    Good luck with the selling!

Thanks, Greg! 🙂 Yeah, it definitely is a relative term. We’re not contagious anymore, but it would be nice for all the symptoms to go away.

Yay for being “over” covid! Now I hope the fatigue and brain fog and other symptoms of weaning off the medication clear up soon.

Oscar Isaac wasn’t really on my radar as a great actor until we watched Moon Knight then he blew me away. He’s definitely talented!

I hope all goes well with the sale and move!

    • Jenni Elyse
      Jenni Elyse says:

Thanks, Jen! 😀 Oscar Isaac did a great job in MOON KNIGHT. I loved that show so much. He first came on my radar when I watched EX MACHINA with him, Domhnall Gleeson, and Alicia Vikander.

Covid and coming off of meds is no easy combination. I’m sorry to hear about that but am glad you are all feeling better. I will send lots of good vibes for the house sale! The last time we moved I swore to never ever move again. It’s so stressful! Have a wonderful week!

Thanks, Katherine! 😀 And, I know exactly what you mean about moving. It’s so stressful and we’ll be moving at least twice in the next year. Hopefully, the second move will be our last.
