Sunday News #64

Sunday Post and Sunday Salon are blog news memes hosted at Caffeinated Reviewer and Reader Buzz, respectively. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week on your blog, and showcase books and other things.
What Happened this Week

This week has been a bit slow. I’ve mostly been getting ready for classes to start on the 21st.

What I Blogged

Here’s what I posted on the blog this week:

What I Read and I’m Reading

I listened to the audiobook for BRINGING DOWN THE DUKE by Evie Dunmore. It was a fun historical romance. I’ll be posting my review tomorrow.

I’ve also been reading IRON FLAME by Rebecca Yarros. I’ve had a migraine this week and I can’t read physical books when that happens so I’m only a little over halfway through. I should finish it this week.

I’ll start listening to the audiobook of THE DUKE AND I by Julia Quinn today. It’s the first book in the Bridgerton series, which I’ve been wanting to read for a couple of years now.

How was your week? Anything exciting happen?

Good luck with the reprise of your studies! Which classes are you going to attend?

It’s funny that you happened to start two “duke” books in the same month 😁.

Thanks, Roberta! 😀 I’m taking second-year Japanese, Japanese conversation, and calculus. I’m really excited!

Lol. I thought that two about the two “duke” books. To be fair, the first one made me think of the other.

I love the Japanese language. It can be very daunting because the sentence structure and writing systems are completely different than Germanic- or Latin-based languages. Once you get used to it, though, it’s pretty simple.

I also love math. I was going to get my degree in math, but I’ve decided to do Japanese instead. I still want to conquer calculus just so I know I can. 😀

I guess the 21st is a good day. It’s the middle of the week so that first week isn’t as long. 😀

I’ve only seen the first season of Bridgerton. I’m sure I’ll watch the others at some point. I go one movie / tv watching binges every now and then. Otherwise, I don’t really watch any movies or tv shows. I hope you like the second book better than the tv show season.

They really are the worst. I’ve been getting them a lot lately due to stress and other things. I’m trying to eat and sleep better to see if that helps any.

Good to know! 😀 I’m really excited to listen to the audio.

Lol. Same. I know I’ve spent a lot of it getting ready for school, catching up on Japanese since it’s been a year or two. I’ve always been trying to make sure I have all my supplies and other things ready. 😀

Sorry to hear you’ve been having migraines. I hope you feel better soon. I didn’t like Iron Flame as much as Fourth Wing, but I still enjoyed it and I’m really looking forward to the next one. I hope you enjoy it too!

Thank you! 😀 One of my book club friends didn’t like IRON FLAME as much as FOURTH WING either. So far I’m really enjoying it. I hate Varrish and I hate that Violet and Xaden are separated, but they’re able to see each other enough that it’s not horrible.

Thanks, Anne! 😀 I’m glad your daughter has been doing better since her infusions. I hope it keeps helping and that she’s able to go back to school in September.

Thanks, Deb! 😀 I appreciate that.

I’m curious about it as well. I’ve heard a lot of good things and I really liked season one of the show. I guess we’ll see if I like the book too.

I hope your migraine goes. They are awful aren’t they. Nothing helps instantly.

The Duke and I was meh for me, but the second one I absolutely loved and I really enjoyed the next two!

Have a lovely week next week, hopefully without the migraine.

Man, I’d forgotten about Bringing Down the Duke, but I’ve had it on my TBR for… quite a while, ahaha.

The first Bridgerton book was okay, though I wasn’t in love with how things turned out — the first part of the book was much more fun (for me). Hope you enjoy it!

BRINGING DOWN THE DUKE was really good. I loved the characters and the setting. If / when you read it, I hope you like it. 😀

I’m very interested to see what I think of THE DUKE AND I. I loved the first season of BRIDGERTON so I think I’ll like it. Only time will tell. 😀
