Sunday News #60

Sunday Post and Sunday Salon are blog news memes hosted at Caffeinated Reviewer and Reader Buzz, respectively. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week on your blog, and showcase books and other things.
What Happened this Week

I’ve decided to change up my Sunday News posts. I’ve realized how much I disliked trying to think of something to share in each category every week.

Anyway, this week has been kind of quiet. I spent some time with my BFF. Her birthday was Thursday. Corey and I went to dinner with her and her family, we ate cake and cookies, played some Mario Kart and Boomerang FU on the Switch, and watched CENTRAL INTELLIGENCE with Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart.

We also went to my BFF’s oldest daughter’s jazz band concert on Friday morning. She plays both the clarinet and tenor sax like her mom. It’s been really fun to watch her grow and gain confidence in her playing skills.

What I Blogged

Here’s what I posted on the blog this week:

What I Read and I’m Reading

I finished rereading SUNRUNNER’S FIRE this week. I’m really glad I decided to reread the Dragon Prince trilogy. It was fun to revisit some of my favorite stories and characters. You can click the link above if you’re interested in my thoughts about the trilogy.

I couldn’t sleep Tuesday night so I listened to the HELLO, TRANSCRIBER audiobook and finished it before Corey woke up. I’ll be posting my review tomorrow.

I finally started reading FOURTH WING this week. I haven’t gotten very far because I’ve been really tired this week. I’m really excited to see what all the hype’s about.

I also started listening to the WHERE THE CRAWDADS SING audiobook. I started reading the Kindle book a couple of years ago but got sidetracked and never finished it. I went through my library’s available audiobooks and it was one of them. I really like the audiobook so far.

How was your week? Anything exciting happen?

I need to change around my Sunday format…I tend to get rigid and stuck with things. Thanks for the reminder that I can modify things.

I look forward to seeing what you think about Fourth Wing. I’m looking for something in that genre, I think.

I’m the same way. I tend to create a template that I love and stick with it forever. It’s nice to change things up a bit, though. 😀

I really like the characters so far. And, the premise is intriguing.

I’ve seen the crawdads movie as well. I really enjoyed it. I wanted to read the book first, but since I got sidetracked I just went ahead and watched the movie.

FOURTH WING will still be there when you’re in the mood to read it. 😀

The thing with blogs is that you can do them however you want! I’m interested in your opinion of Fourth Wing. I hear so much buzz about it!

Yes, exactly. Even though I tend to create a template and stick to it for the long haul, I do enjoy changing it up a bit every now and then. 😀

I’ve heard a ton of buzz about FOURTH WING too, mostly good.

I’ve been on the library list for FOURTH WING for the last six or seven months. It’s so crazy. The only reason I’m getting a chance to read it now is that my friend lent me her copies. 😀

That’s the joy of each of us having our own blog, we can change the categories to suit our needs/wants! I didn’t love Where the Crawdad’s Sing, but if I recall, it was the dialect, it was so hard for me to read/understand, and it was distracting. I haven’t found a book yet with dialect (words accented) that I have enjoyed.

      Jenni Elyse says:

Yes, definitely. Even though I tend to create a template I’ll stick to for the next foreseeable future, I do long changing things up a bit when the mood hits. 😀

I’m sorry you didn’t like it and that the dialect caused you trouble. I tend to love it when authors write in dialects because it makes the characters feel more real. I do have trouble with them every once in a while. So, I get it.

It’s always nice to find a book in a more accessible format. I have read “Crawdads” and I think I found it just OK. Didn’t see the movie.
    Have a good week.

I haven’t really noticed if it’s been pretentious or not. Unless it’s really obvious, I usually don’t notice stuff like that. I do love the nature writing as well. 😀

I’m pretty loose with myself and my “format for my Sunday posts. The only think I always post is the weather. That doesn’t take too much effort, just look outside. Ha! I listened to Crawdads on audio and really liked it. I hope you continue to find it engaging.

I don’t think I ever mention the weather, lol. Maybe every now and then. I do like hearing about the weather in places around the country and world so maybe I should start saying something. 😀
