Top Ten Tuesday #46
Debuts I’ve Loved
Today’s Top Ten Tuesday prompt is “Debut Novels I Enjoyed.” I’ve read quite a few debuts and thought it would be fun to see which books I’d choose. I’ve decided to focus on new adult or adult novels I’ve read. Here are my top ten choices:
- Dune by Frank Herbert
- The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden
- The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
- Dragon Prince by Melanie Rawn
- Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt
- Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas
- This Spells Love by Kate Robb
- The Flatshare by Beth O’Leary
- Every Summer After by Carley Fortune
- The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood
What about you? Which debuts have you enjoyed? Do we have any in common?
I love The Flatshare! Beth O’Leary is one of my favourite authors! I also really want to read The Bear and the Nightingale!
I’ve only read THE FLATSHARE by O’Leary, but I’m looking forward to reading more of her work. I hope you love THE BEAR AND THE NIGHTINGALE when you get around to it! 😀
I love NA and adult, but I can’t see your list as I’m a legally blind screenreader user and can’t see images. I’m sure you’re not aware of this 🙂 Would you either add alt text next time or provide a written list under the collage?

Oh. I’m sorry, Laurie! I had no idea. I’ll make the change. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. 😀
Someday I should read Dune!
Read it a few weeks back for the first time. It’s QUITE the work! There is also a graphic novel adaptation.
I didn’t even think about Dune! I just read it within the month so you’d think it would be on my mind.
I almost didn’t think of DUNE either. I almost forgot it was Herbert’s debut until I looked it up. 😀
I first read DUNE when I was in high school and have loved it ever since. It’s my all-time favorite book. 😀 I’ve read the first graphic novel. I’ve been waiting for the third one to release (which it did last week) to read the other two. 😀
Like Stephen said, it is quite the work. I love it, though. It’s my all-time favorite book. If you do read it, I hope you enjoy it! 😀
Sometimes it takes a while for a debut novel to find its audience. I know people who are just now discovering Remarkably Bright Creatures several years after its original publication.
Yes! I’m so glad RBC is starting to find its audience. It’s such a good book and story. 😀
Great list!! I loved The Bear and the Nightingale.
Thanks, Erin! 😀 The Winternight Trilogy is one of my favorites.
I didn’t know that Remarkably Bright Creatures was a debut. I liked that book.
She has a lot to live up to with her second book, doesn’t she? 😀
I’ve read a number of wonderful debut novels like “The Language of Flowers,” “Snow Child,” and “The Light Between Oceans.” I know I’m missing a bunch! It seems like the second novel by the author is usually a disappointment though.
I haven’t read any of the debuts you listed. I did want to read THE LIGHT BETWEEN OCEANS, though. I do agree that a lot of author’s second books are a disappointment but I figure they average out over the course of their career. 😀
I also loved The Night Circus, Throne of Glass, The Flatshare, The Love Hypothesis, This Spells Love and Every Summer After!
Woot woot! 😀 Great minds think alike!
I’ve heard a lot of good things about The Love Hypothesis.
Here is our Top Ten Tuesday.
It really is so good. I’m looking forward to reading more books by her. 😀
Bear and the Nightingale made my list too!
It’s such a great book and great start to an awesome series! 😀
There’s a lot of big names on your list this week! I hadn’t realized The Bear and the Nightingale was Arden’s debut.
Thanks for stopping by my TTT earlier. Happy reading!
It was. Sometimes, it’s hard to believe her debut was so good! 😀
I loved The Flatshare! I haven’t not liked a book O’Leary has published so far. I can’t wait to get a new book from her next year.

I’ve only read THE FLATSHARE by O’Leary, but I’m looking forward to reading more by her someday. 😀
OOh nice picks! I’ll admit Maas didn’t win me over until ACOTAR. TOG wasn’t for me. I did finally read Hazelwood with her paranormal debut this year and I would likely read her again if she wrote another. The rest are all new to me ones.
Thanks for visiting my TTT!
Thanks! 😀 I haven’t read ACOTAR yet, but I’m looking forward to it. I’ve heard such great things about it.
I loved The Bear and the Nightingale, The Love Hypothesis, and Throne of Glass. Although I read Throne of Glass late and haven’t read on in that series yet!
I also read THRONE OF GLASS late and haven’t read the rest of the series. I do plan to read the series at some point. I just haven’t had a chance. 😉
So, I totally came over to your page yesterday and must have gotten interrupted since I don’t have a comment here, LOL! I have not read any of these. Once upon a time I was going to read The Flatshare but never got around to it. Enjoy the rest of your week.
I think you’d really like THE FLATSHARE based on the other books you read and like. 😀
