Top Ten Tuesday #34

Books with Geographical Terms in the Title
This week’s prompt is “Books with Geographical Terms in the Title.” My first thought when I saw the prompt was, I’m not sure how many books I’ve read qualify. I used Jana’s link to geographical terms, cross-checked it with every book I’ve marked as Read on Goodreads, and I found ten books. I haven’t read some of these books since 2007 or earlier! Anyway, here’s what I found:

What about you? Which books did you find with geographical terms in the title? Do we have any in common?
Great list and picks for this week’s fun prompt. I also added a Mortal Instrument book, but I pick my favorite out of the 3 I read: City of Glass. A River Enchanted is on my TBR which is why it didn’t make the list.

Have a great week π
Thanks, Rae! π I really love City of Glass too. It was my favorite of the first three. I hope you enjoy A River Enchanted when you get to it.
Great mix of books – Dune made my list too. I can’t believe I didn’t think of Dread Nation! I have A River Enchanted on my shelves but I’ve yet to get to it.
My TTT
That’s awesome that Dune made your list. π Dune is my all-time favorite book. I hope you enjoy reading A River Enchanted when you get to it!
Oh wow, I hardly ever see The Coldest Girl in Coldtown mentioned. I loved that one and always felt like it didn’t get the attention it deserved.
I don’t see it on lists very often either. I almost missed it for this week too, but then realized “town” would work. I really enjoyed this book too. I wish it was a series. π
I love how you included an Artemis Fowl book. I loved that series.

I’ve only read the first two books in the Artemis Fowl series. I’d like to read the whole series. I just need to take the time. π It’s been so long since I’ve read the first two books, though. I read them back in 2007.
A great list. I think that they qualify βΊοΈ
Have a great week!

Thanks, Emily! π I spent a lot of time going through my books and cross-checking them with Jana’s link to geographical terms, lol.
Hey, you did great this week!
Thanks, Jordyn! π I tried, lol.
I almost included Mansfield Park, but preferred to go with ones I had read instead! I don’t think it’ll be a Jane Austen I read in a hurry – I’m very tempted by Persuasion next! I did read Artemis Fowl when I was younger but didn’t really get on with it!

Mansfield Park is the first Jane Austen book I ever read. I really enjoyed it. I liked it much better than Persuasion. To each their own, right? π My favorite Austen novel is Northanger Abbey, though. I still haven’t read Emma or Sense and Sensibility yet so we’ll see if that holds.
Someday I really should read Dune!

I hope you do and I hope you love it like I do. π
These are great and eclectic choices! I’ve read several of them!
Thanks, Margaret! π Lists that have to do with covers are always much more eclectic because I choose qualifying books over preferential affection.
I never would have thought of Mansfield Park. I tried to stay relatively current and used the linked Wikipedia list for words so I really struggled to fill in this list. Sigh. I should have taken a more relaxed approach. I had a very difficult time with this task this week. Apparently I don’t read many books with geographical terms. My list this week
I tried to stay current too, but I had a very hard time even finding books that qualified. I also used Jana’s link and cross-checked it with every single book marked as Read on Goodreads. It took almost an hour. LOL. π
You found a great selection of books this week! I’ve only read City of Heavenly Fire from your list.
Thanks, Lindsey! It look a lot of digging to find these, lol. π
I had to tweak the topic just a bit to give me better focus, otherwise, I would have been working on the post all day! Nice list! https://cindysbookcorner.blogspot.com/2022/09/top-ten-tuesday-authors-that-gravitate.html
Lol. I understand. It took me an hour to come up with my list. I cross-checked every book I marked as Read on Goodreads with Jana’s link. I’m very happy I found ten books. π
The Hollow City looks interesting!
Here is our Top Ten Tuesday. Thank you!
It was very interesting. I really liked the concept. I wish it were part of a series. π
Love your list…especially that you included both Mansfield Park and Jurassic Park! What a fun combination! π
Thanks, Lark! π I really tried to find books that used different terms, but I had a hard time so I have “city” and “park” twice. Mansfield Park and Jurassic Park do make an interesting juxtaposition, don’t they?
OOoh nice picks! I’m seeing some with terms and of course now I’m thinking, I HAD A TITLE WITH THAT! Lol! It was so hard to think of things I mostly searched for Jana’s examples as well!
Thanks for visiting my TTT!
LOL. I felt the same when I went around commenting on other blogs. I definitely should’ve done a twist, but I am glad I still came up with 10 books. π
This week’s theme was such a struggle, and now I instantly regret not just throwing caution to the wind and whacking Coldtown on my list, too! I love that book so much. Great list!
Lol. I debated about adding Coldtown to my list for so long. I decided that since “town” qualifies “Coldtown” would too. π
Dune yeah! Even if I wasn’t a super big fan of the books I always love the cover art! And Jurassic PArk!!!
Lol. I love the cover art for Dune too. There are so many covers available and I really love what some designers choose to highlight on each. I even like the cover to the B&N leather bound edition, which is the copy I own, but I think the one I have been showing on my blog is my favorite! π The only thing that would make it better is if a sandworm were on it.
I also love the covers for Jurassic Park and The Lost World, non-movie editions. They’re so iconic!
I think I know whcih edition you’re talking about from B&N, and it is nice
Ooh the Artemis Fowl one is a clever one, would never have thought of that, but of course arctic is a geographical term! I loved that series π
My TTT: https://jjbookblog.wordpress.com/2022/09/13/top-ten-tuesday-385/
I’ve only read the first two books of the series. I’d like to read the rest after I reread those first two since I read them back in 2007! Lol. π
Great list! Youβre the second person Iβve seen that included Dread Nation and Iβm totally kicking myself for missing that one because itβs such a good book!
Thanks, Leah! π I almost missed Dread Nation too, but then I double-checked to make sure “nation” counted, lol.
Love your choice of titles and how gorgeous are those covers!
Thanks, Suzanne! π I love the covers of these books too.
Well done! I found todays topic a bit challenging as well. but, like you, I got there in the end
Thanks, Wendy! π Challenging prompts are nice every now and then … just not every week. LOL.
Great list! I love that you included Dune!
Thanks, Lisa! π I was really excited that Dune qualified. It’s my all-time favorite book.
I was surprised how many titles I found with geographical terms in them. It’s something I’ve never really paid attention to before, but apparently I’m very drawn to these kinds of titles. Who knew? From your list, I’ve read THE HOLLOW CITY, JURASSIC PARK, and DREAD NATION. I *think* I’ve read THE COLDEST GIRL IN COLDTOWN, but I’m not totally sure…curse my aging memory!
Happy TTT!

That’s awesome that you gravitate towards books with geographical terms. I wonder if it’s because you read a lot of mysteries and thrillers? Aging memories are a problem, aren’t they? Too bad there’s no way around it. LOL.
Yes, I do think that has a lot to do with it. There are TONS of mystery/thrillers set near lakes, oceans, rivers, or in the mountains/hills, etc. I find a lot of historical fiction titles have geographical terms in the titles as well.
I obviously need to read more of both genres for prompts like this, lol.
I was just thinking of the Artemis Fowl books the other day! Such a fun series.
I’ve only read the first two books of Artemis Fowl. I’d like to read the rest of the series. π I’ll need to reread then first two books, though, because I read them back in 2007.
I like how you included “compass!”
Thanks, Deb! π I’m glad it qualifies so I could use it.
Dune is a great one!
Thanks! π I’m glad it worked. Dune is my all-time favorite book.
This is a very “famililar” list for me. I have read “Mansfield Park” (as well as all other Jane Austen books, of course), my eldest son read “The Golden Compass” when he was little, they both read “Artemis Fowl”, and my youngest wanted “Dune” for Christmas last year.
Thanks for visiting my TTT this week.
Iβm glad my list resonated so much with you, Marianne! π
Ooh, arctic is a great one and I was sad that I didn’t have any books with that term on my read list π Compass is also another term that I didn’t see on anyone’s list this week. Great picks! π
Thanks, Dini! π I was excited when I remembered both books. They’re definitely my two most interesting words, lol.
I worried I wouldn’t have enough titles for this prompt either, but I figured it out. I’m glad you did too.
You’ve got a lot of titles with such interesting terms that I didn’t even think of, like Dread Nation and Jurassic Park/Jurassic World. Awesome!
Thanks! It was hard, but like you, I got there in the end. π I’d never have thought of them either if I hadn’t used Jana’s link, lol.
Great list! I really like that cover for A River Enchanted. And I love that you found a book with “arctic” in the title! I’m not sure that one would have occurred to me. Thanks for visiting my TTT earlier!
I also love the cover for A River Enchanted. The cover for its sequel is just as gorgeous. π Arctic wouldn’t have occurred to me either if I hadn’t used Jana’s link, lol.
I’m late to this post – missed it on Tuesday, but you have some great titles/covers there. And, added Enchanted River to my TBR – it sounds great!
Hope you stop by and see my geographical titles.
Terrie @ Bookshelf Journeys
Thanks, Terrie! π I hope you enjoy An Enchanted River as much as I did. I’m anxiously looking forward to its sequel in December.
Dune is such a clever choice for this topic. I am not sure I would have thought of it!
Thanks, Marg! π I never would’ve thought of it if I hadn’t looked at Jana’s link. I cross-checked every book I’ve read with that list, lol.
Oh yeah I thought about picking The Arctic Incident and see if I had some more snowy geographical terms but that was a bit too much haha.
LOL. I totally get it. I had a hard enough time coming up with 10 disjointed titles. π
