Books with Geographical Terms in the Title
This week’s prompt is “Books with Geographical Terms in the Title.” My first thought when I saw the prompt was, I’m not sure how many books I’ve read qualify. I used Jana’s link to geographical terms, cross-checked it with every book I’ve marked as Read on Goodreads, and I found ten books. I haven’t read some of these books since 2007 or earlier! Anyway, here’s what I found:

Great list and picks for this week’s fun prompt. I also added a Mortal Instrument book, but I pick my favorite out of the 3 I read: City of Glass. A River Enchanted is on my TBR which is why it didn’t make the list.

Great mix of books – Dune made my list too. I can’t believe I didn’t think of Dread Nation! I have A River Enchanted on my shelves but I’ve yet to get to it.

Oh wow, I hardly ever see The Coldest Girl in Coldtown mentioned. I loved that one and always felt like it didn’t get the attention it deserved.
I don’t see it on lists very often either. I almost missed it for this week too, but then realized “town” would work. I really enjoyed this book too. I wish it was a series. ๐
I love how you included an Artemis Fowl book. I loved that series.

I’ve only read the first two books in the Artemis Fowl series. I’d like to read the whole series. I just need to take the time. ๐ It’s been so long since I’ve read the first two books, though. I read them back in 2007.

I almost included Mansfield Park, but preferred to go with ones I had read instead! I don’t think it’ll be a Jane Austen I read in a hurry – I’m very tempted by Persuasion next! I did read Artemis Fowl when I was younger but didn’t really get on with it!

Mansfield Park is the first Jane Austen book I ever read. I really enjoyed it. I liked it much better than Persuasion. To each their own, right? ๐ My favorite Austen novel is Northanger Abbey, though. I still haven’t read Emma or Sense and Sensibility yet so we’ll see if that holds.
Someday I really should read Dune!

I never would have thought of Mansfield Park. I tried to stay relatively current and used the linked Wikipedia list for words so I really struggled to fill in this list. Sigh. I should have taken a more relaxed approach. I had a very difficult time with this task this week. Apparently I don’t read many books with geographical terms. My list this week

Thanks, Lark! ๐ I really tried to find books that used different terms, but I had a hard time so I have “city” and “park” twice. Mansfield Park and Jurassic Park do make an interesting juxtaposition, don’t they?

This week’s theme was such a struggle, and now I instantly regret not just throwing caution to the wind and whacking Coldtown on my list, too! I love that book so much. Great list!
Lol. I debated about adding Coldtown to my list for so long. I decided that since “town” qualifies “Coldtown” would too. ๐
Dune yeah! Even if I wasn’t a super big fan of the books I always love the cover art! And Jurassic PArk!!!
Lol. I love the cover art for Dune too. There are so many covers available and I really love what some designers choose to highlight on each. I even like the cover to the B&N leather bound edition, which is the copy I own, but I think the one I have been showing on my blog is my favorite! ๐ The only thing that would make it better is if a sandworm were on it.
I also love the covers for Jurassic Park and The Lost World, non-movie editions. They’re so iconic!

I was surprised how many titles I found with geographical terms in them. It’s something I’ve never really paid attention to before, but apparently I’m very drawn to these kinds of titles. Who knew? From your list, I’ve read THE HOLLOW CITY, JURASSIC PARK, and DREAD NATION. I *think* I’ve read THE COLDEST GIRL IN COLDTOWN, but I’m not totally sure…curse my aging memory!

That’s awesome that you gravitate towards books with geographical terms. I wonder if it’s because you read a lot of mysteries and thrillers? Aging memories are a problem, aren’t they? Too bad there’s no way around it. LOL.
Yes, I do think that has a lot to do with it. There are TONS of mystery/thrillers set near lakes, oceans, rivers, or in the mountains/hills, etc. I find a lot of historical fiction titles have geographical terms in the titles as well.
I obviously need to read more of both genres for prompts like this, lol.

This is a very “famililar” list for me. I have read “Mansfield Park” (as well as all other Jane Austen books, of course), my eldest son read “The Golden Compass” when he was little, they both read “Artemis Fowl”, and my youngest wanted “Dune” for Christmas last year.
