Top Ten Tuesday #17

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
Bookish Characters

This week’s prompt is “Bookish Characters.” This seems easy, except I think we’re supposed to choose a category of character, like favorite readers, librarians, professors, etc. At least that’s what I’m understanding from the instructions. Here are my top ten favorite bookworms:

Hermione Granger

Harry Potter Series by JK Rowling

Bella Swan

Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer

Will Herondale

Infernal Devices Trilogy by Cassandra Clare

Tessa Gray

Infernal Devices Trilogy by Cassandra Clare

Lady Jane Grey

MY LADY JANE by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, and Jodi Meadows

Marianne Daventry

EDENBROOKE by Julianne Donaldson

Liesel Meminger

THE BOOK THIEF by Markus Zusak

Cath Avery

FANGIRL by Rainbow Rowell

Anne Shirley

ANNE OF GREEN GABLES by LM Montgomery

Elizabeth Bennett

PRIDE & PREJUDICE by Jane Austen

What about you? Which bookish characters are on your list this week?

I’ve been learning in DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) that life is full of dialectics, or two opposing truths. In this case, the two opposing truths are: 1) I don’t agree with JKR’s stance regarding trans people, and 2) I still love Harry Potter.

Interesting list. I should have thought of Hermione Granger but fantasy isn’t exactly my genre. But she is a great reader and deserves to be on our lists.

Thanks for visiting my TTT this week which is all about readers.

I think its super important to separate the book from the author especially in Harry Potter’s case! I know so many people who have been saved by those books that it would be a shame to discredit the books. (We can discredit the author tho!) I also included Hermione on my list <3

I completely agree. It’s because of Harry Potter that I love reading and have many of the friends that I do right now. I can’t throw away my love for the books just because of Rowling’s views. I can, however, distance myself from her and acknowledge the hurt she’s caused and the pain the books may cause some readers. 💜
