Top Ten Tuesday #12

Books I Still Need to Read by Some of My Favorite Authors
This week’s prompt is a freebie. Last Tuesday while I was commenting on other blogs, Nicole (Bookwyrm Knits) decided to go with a throwback prompt rather than the one regarding classics (I don’t blame her at all, ha ha). I loved the prompt she chose so much that I’ve decided to do it as my freebie this week. Without further ado, here are my top ten books I still need to read by some of my favorite authors:

Some of these books have been on my TBR for so long. I mostly haven’t read them because I’m a slow reader and I haven’t had a chance to read them yet with all the other books vying for my attention.
What about you? Which books by your favorite authors have you not read yet? Do we have any in common?
Scarlet! Oh, goodness, you need to drop everything else and start there. It’s amazing. Who knew Red Riding Hood could get such a wonderful makeover?
I’ve heard as much, lol. I really want to read it and the rest of the series. I hope to soon. I just have so many other obligations right now.
I hope you enjoy all of these books!

Thanks, Lydia! I hope so too! 🙂
Several of these books/authors are on my “must read someday” list. There are just too many books and not enough reading time 😉
I know, right?! I wish I could just read all day everyday. Although, knowing myself and my depression, I couldn’t do that. I’ll have to be content with reading in my downtime. 🙂
I’m afraid I was disappointed by The Ballad Of Songbirds and Snakes. I read it in class (which probably didn’t help) and I got very bored and it just felt like trying to profit off the success of The Hunger Games. Not one for me, but I hope you enjoy it more than I did!
Happy TTT!

I’ve heard mixed reviews from others. I’m not sure which camp I’ll fall under, but I want to give it a go. A couple of my good friends read it and really liked it. Hopefully, I’ll be more like them. 🙂
I’m glad you found this throwback topic interesting! You have some great sounding books on here—the only one I’ve read is The Starless Sea, and I really liked it. I hope you enjoy these books when you read them!
I did a tag post this week
Yes, thank you! I really appreciate the idea. 🙂 I’m very excited to read The Starless Sea. I loved The Night Circus a lot.
I love Scarlet and There’s Someone Inside Your House. The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes was weak compared to the rest of the series, I don’t regret reading it but it didn’t live up to the rest.

I’ve heard that The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes isn’t as good as the rest of the series, but I’ve also heard that it’s interesting and good to read. I hope that I’ll appreciate it. 😀
This is indeed a fun topic! There’s Someone Inside Your House is still on my TBR too! I read and really loved Scarlet, Lady Midnight and Crown of Midnight.
Thanks! 😀 I’m very excited to read these. Hopefully sooner rather than later, lol.
I saw this prompt on Nicole’s list last week, too. It’s a great one! I’ll have to keep it in mind for my next freebie. It’s always interesting to look at which books by favorite authors we haven’t read yet and why.
Happy TTT!

Sounds great! Hopefully, I can read them all sooner rather than later. 😀
I need to re-read The Hunger Games so I can read Ballad of Song Brid and Snake.
My post: https://tellmeayarnblg.wordpress.com/2022/04/05/standalone-books-that-need-a-sequal-ttt-11/
Yes, I’d like to reread the series as well. I’ll probably read Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes before I reread the series since it’s a prequel.
What a great topic. I think I’ll use this topic next time I can’t think of what to do for a top ten. I hope you love all these books when you can get to them!
Thank you! 🙂 I hope I enjoy them as well. I look forward to seeing which books you choose when you do this topic.
I hope you love all of these when you get to them!
Thanks! Me too! 🙂
I pretty much hated Songbirds and Snakes. If I had to do it over again, I wouldn’t read it. Here is what I said in my review after I finished it. Keep in mind I was reading this during the beginning and the very hardest part of the pandemic. Perhaps my moods were tainted. https://headfullofbooks.blogspot.com/2020/07/review-and-quotes-ballad-of-songbirds.html
Thanks for sharing your review with me. I know a lot of people didn’t/don’t like Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. A couple of my really good friends really liked it and I have similar reading tastes to them, so I’m hoping I’ll enjoy it. 🙂
Love this prompt for the freebie week! I know The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is a polarising one but I thought it was really good–I hope you enjoy it when you do read it!
It is very polarizing. I had no idea how much it was, lol, until this post. 😀 I hope I enjoy it too. I’m glad you did.
I enjoyed My Plain Jane and Scarlet! Here is our Top Ten Tuesday.. Thank you!
I’m glad you did. I’m very excited to read them both. 🙂 I loved the first books in both series.
Yep, I totally could have made a list like this too…so many books, not enough time!
Right?! A reader’s biggest dilemma.
Great TTT list! I still need to read The Starless Sea, too. I really loved The Night Circus, so I don’t know why I keep stalling on reading this one.
I also loved The Night Circus. 🙂 I hope I love The Starless Sea just as much. 🙂
You have such great taste in books! There’s so many books on my TBR that fall into this category – but currently I’m working my way through Silvia Moreno-Garcia’s books, because the three that I read already were so good!
Thank you! 🙂 I haven’t read any of Moreno-Garcia’s books yet. Several of them are on my TBR, though.
Great topic! I loved The Lunar Chronicles books, but haven’t read any of Marissa Meyer’s later books, so I should probably pick up at least one and give it a try. I do want to read all the “Jane” books — I have the first one on my Kindle, and keep meaning to give it a try!
I loved Cinder. I’ve just never gone on. Too many books vying for my attention.
I loved My Lady Jane. I thought it was hilarious and I loved the historical fiction sprinkled in with the fantasy. I’m excited to see what they do to Jane Eyre and Calamity Jane. 🙂
Nicole consistently comes up with great topics, doesn’t she?
I’ve read Ballad, Scarlet, and Winterkeep. I didn’t care for Ballad but I hope you do! I love The Lunar Chronicles, especially on audio, so I hope you read Scarlet soon. I read Winterkeep then realized that I had completely skipped Bitterblue! Oops. I did add it to my TBR so I’ll correct that oversight at some point.
Great list!
She really does! 🙂 I hope to get to Scarlet sooner rather than later as well. It all just depends on mood and challenge shuffling. You should go back and read Bitterblue. It’s really good. I liked it a lot.
Lady Midnight is one of my favourite Shadowhunters books! I’m also reading the Throne of Glass series, I’ve read five of them, and would recommend, I’ve loved each book more.
That’s good to know. I used to be able to keep up with Cassandra Clare’s crazy publishing schedule, but now I can’t because she publishes so many books each year. I often wonder if she has time to sleep or do anything but write.
I like this prompt you chose this week! I didn’t know there was another book in the Hunger Games series. I read the first I read the first Graceling and Scarlet but didn’t go further, and the first 3 or so Throne of Glass entries. This must have been fun to think about and write. Hope you read some more of these.
It was a lot of fun to think about and reminded me of books I need to get too. 🙂 Hopefully, I’ll be able to read them sooner rather than later.
I did this one a few years back, and it turned out I had quite a lot as a lot of my favourite authors have quite extensive backlists! I’ve kind of gone off Sarah J Maas in the last couple of years, I used to really love her stuff, but I do find all her characters quite same-y, and I’ve just not felt the pull to read her latest releases.
My TTT: https://jjbookblog.wordpress.com/2022/04/05/top-ten-tuesday-362/
That makes sense about Sarah J Maas. I’ve only read Throne of Glass so I haven’t run into that problem yet. Hopefully, I won’t for a while and I’ll enjoy her books. 🙂
I also haven’t read The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins, even though I loved The Hunger Games Trilogy! My own TTT topic this week – Books That Have Been on My TBR For Too Long – does feature some books by favourite authors too! 😅
I think there isn’t a way to include your favorite authors when you create a list about books that have been on your TBR for too long, right? It’s inevitable, especially for us readers, lol.
