Even though it’s halfway through the second month of the of the year, I thought it’s high time I make some project goals. Or, I’m going to let my WIPs run away with themselves and become UFOs (unfinished objects) as my friend, Hava, calls them.

I currently have five WIPs in progress. I’m actively working on two of them, three if you count when I need a mindless project at church or waiting at appointments. My current WIPs are:

  • 3 afghans (two knit and one crochet),
  • a knitted scarf,
  • and a pair of knitted socks.

I also have three UFOs I’ve been working on for years and haven’t touched for at least 4 years. They’re all afghans.

I’m okay if I don’t finish the scarf until next winter. I like having it as my mindless project. I’m not sure I want to finish the socks. I think I have First Sock Syndrome, instead of Second Sock Syndrome, which is usually where you finish the first one but don’t want to finish the second one. In my case, I don’t want to finish the lot. 😂 (You can tell I’ve been reading Harry Potter.) If I decided not to finish the socks, I’m going to copy an idea from Hava.

As you can see, if I allow myself to, I’ll just keep starting projects without ever finishing them (except the two afghans for my friends). This. Can’t. Happen. My goal is:

I can’t start anything new until I finish a WIP or a UFO.

Basically, I’ll only be able to work on 8 project at a time. If I want to start a new one, I need to finish one that I’m working on. It will ensure I’m making progress, meeting deadlines, and not procrastinating as I do.

What do you think?
