Before I Blogged: Anna and the French Kiss

Before I Blogged is a new feature here at Jenni Elyse. The main idea is to discuss a book I’ve previously read and haven’t reviewed on this blog, which is going to be easy since I accidentally deleted everything prior to December 26. 😂 Since I just finished rereading Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins, I’ll start with it. There are mild spoilers in this discussion.

I first read Anna and the French Kiss in February 2011 after I saw a glowing review on Brodi Ashton’s blog. I’ve now read it three times and I love it just as much as I did the first time I read it.

Anna and the French Kiss is one of my favorite books because the sexual tension is thick enough to coat the back of a spoon with it. I also adore the characters, especially Étienne (or St. Clair as most others call him). On my list of literary crushes, Étienne is only second to Edward Cullen.

One of my favorite chapters is when Anna is home for Christmas break and she and Étienne are emailing each other. I love their emails. They’re so sweet. You can tell they miss each other and they both want something more than just friendship, but they’re both afraid to admit it. I also love the chapter when Anna and Étienne sit next to each other at the theatre for the first time. I love Stephanie Perkins’ description of how aware of each other they are. It’s like how Stephenie Meyer used electricity to explain the chemistry and pull between Bella and Edward.

I honestly could keep gushing about Anna and the French Kiss forever, but I’ll stop here. Have you read it? If so, what do you think about it? It’s okay if you don’t like it as much as I do or even at all. Why do you feel the way you do? Let’s have a discussion.

I like the idea of this feature! I think I actually read differently back before I blogged (I certainly didn’t think about how many stars a book would be getting as I read it!) — do you think blogging has changed how you read?

Also, I’m probably due for a re-read of Anna & the French Kiss. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it when I read it the first time 🙂

Thanks! And, my reading has definitely changed, but not from blogging. It has changed because of Goodreads. That’s when I started assigning star values to books. But, I actually like it, lol.

I’m glad you liked AatFK. 😀 That makes me happy! 😀

It does suck, but it’s okay. I like having a clean slate and being able to do things like this feature. And, I’m really excited to read Stephanie’s new book too! 😀
