Year End Number Crunch 2012

I saw this post on my friend Suey’s blog. I thought it was a great idea and I decided to do it myself. (Just don’t compare her list to mine. I don’t measure up in the least.)

Goodreads Stats 2012

Observations

  • I didn’t read nearly as many books as I wanted to.
  • Sadly, I was 51 pages off from reading 10,000 pages this year.
  • This year was definitely a reread year.
  • Normally, I don’t give out mostly 5 stars. Only 3 new books received 5 stars; the rest were rereads.
  • I didn’t go out of my comfort zone much this year.
  • I didn’t listen to any audiobooks.
  • I read two non-fiction books?! Wow!
  • I read two classics like I wanted to. It’s about the only goal I accomplished reading-wise this year.
  • I’m glad I finally read Pride and Prejudice!
  • I reread The Book of Mormon and got halfway through The Old Testament.
What about you? What have you observed about your reading habits this past year?
About Jenni Elyse

I enjoy reading, listening to music, watching movies and TV, playing any type of game, aimlessly surfing the Internet, crocheting, knitting, playing the piano, and hanging out with my husband, cats, and friends. I also love purple, llamas, Zelda, Mario, and Star Wars! Check my About Me page for more details. I also have a health blog to document my journey to becoming a happier, healthier me.

Comments

  1. I don’t have the patience to figure out my stats. Plus I think it might end up depressing me. I’m not sure why I just think it would. Way to go reading at least 1 more book than last year.

    • I can understand why it would. And, I don’t blame you. That’s how I felt the year I went back to school. I only read 19 books that year and it really depressed me.

  2. I love this post, especially for introducing me to the stats feature on goodreads. :) You’ve got a pretty even balance balance between men and women authors, which is impressive! I think I read maybe 2 or 3 books by men.
Way to go on reading more than last year!

  3. 1 more than last year is a great thing! Good luck with next year’s goals!

  4. What a great year! I think any year filled with books is a year worth celebrating. Hooray, especially, for reading PRIDE & PREJUDICE. It was really nice being part of your reading journey this year. One of my favorite bookish moments was hanging out with you and Suey on the cold steps of the library waiting for Lois Lowry tickets! :)

    • That was definitely one of the highlights of the year too. :D I’m so glad we’ve had the chance to get to know each other over the past year! And, I look forward to getting to know you more in the years to come!

  5. Wow! I think this is pretty doggone impressive especially since you were going to school and working full time all year! Your stats are way cool!

  6. Love this idea, so interesting to see. I’ll have to keep it mind for next year but I think I’m too lazy to do it for 2012 haha
