Macon Leary is a travel writer who hates both travel and anything out of the ordinary. He is grounded by loneliness and an unwillingness to compromise his creature comforts when he meets Muriel, a deliciously peculiar dog-obedience trainer who up–ends Macon’s insular world–and thrusts him headlong into a remarkable engagement with life.
I had to read The Accidental Tourist for my English class. This isn’t a book I would’ve chosen to read on my own. However, I’m glad my teacher assigned it to us because I ended up enjoying it. It took a little while for me to get into it (mostly because the main character bothered me to no end), but I’m glad I gave it a chance.

I love Anne Tyler. But I haven’t read Accidental Tourist.
Great review!
Thanks! I’m going to have to check out Anne Tyler’s other books and see if I like them.
i like the cover
Really? It’s one of my least favorites, but to each his own, I guess.
