When I first saw the trailer for Taken 2, I was honestly a little skeptical as to whether I’d like it. I didn’t feel like the first movie needed a sequel. So, I decided it was definitely not a theater movie and decided to wait until it was at Red Box.
Now that I’ve seen Taken 2, my original assessment was correct. While the story was interesting and it was fun to see Maggie Grace kick some butt, it wasn’t needed. And, they left it open for yet another one! Ugh.
The action sequences were fun to watch and I especially liked the climax. The ending in this one was just as random and just as dumb as the first movie, but maybe even more so because it had already been done in the first one. And, a lot of the situations seemed too convenient.
Overall, it wasn’t much of a disappointment because I didn’t go in expecting much. However, at this point, if they make a third movie, I won’t see it–even from Red Box.

UGH. that makes me sad. I *love* Liam Neeson…. but I hate crappy sequels.. and potential crappier third installments.
I love Liam Neeson too. He’s a fantastic actor and I normally like his movies. I thought the movie was fun enough to watch one time. I’m glad I didn’t spend the money to see if in the theater, though. You may still enjoy it.
You are the first person who has said they didn’t like it! I enjoyed the first one, but I wasn’t too interested to see this. I’ve also heard there wasn’t much of a story, it was all about Liam Neeson kicking butt.
My husband and nephew-in-law didn’t like it either. So, I’m not alone.
No, there isn’t much a story. It’s just about revenge and violence.
I found the first Taken movie so disturbing that I can’t imagine watching another one, especially since, like you said, the first one didn’t seem to need a sequel. Good thing Taken 2 wasn’t that impressive.
I can understand why the first one disturbed you. It’s very violent and just the entire theme of the show is disturbing.
