A couple of weeks ago, I was sitting in Sacrament meeting and thinking to myself, “Now that Corey and I sold our piano, I’m probably going to be asked to play the piano in some form at church.” Later that day, I was asked to be the Relief Society pianist.
I’ve struggled with going to Relief Society for the last few months. I think a lot of it is just dealing with everything going on in my life right now and I know some of it’s because I miss our old ward, even though I like our new one too. All I know is that Heavenly Father must really want me to go to Relief Society; otherwise, I wouldn’t have been given a calling that requires me to be in Relief Society every Sunday.
I was sustained in church today and I’ll get set apart next week, so I wasn’t really expecting to play today. But, I found out there hasn’t been a pianist for about four months, so I was asked to play today. Luckily, the opening hymn was a hymn I was familiar with. I didn’t do too badly, I guess. (You may not know that I love to play the piano and I don’t mind playing in front of people; I just don’t like to play while anyone’s singing. I used to get mad at my mom whenever she’d sing while I played.) The closing hymn was a hymn I’d never heard of, so I was really nervous about playing it. However, because today was Fast Sunday in our ward, our class went over time and I didn’t have to play it. I was very grateful.
The Relief Society presidency is going to get me the songs in advance, so I can practice each week, which will be a little harder now that I don’t have a piano. But, the Bishopric said I can use the ones in the church and I’m sure my co-worker Erin will let me use hers too. *hint hint*
Anyway, I think this will be good for me, even though I don’t like playing while people sing. I know I’ll be blessed just because I’ll be going to Relief Society each week and because I’ll try my darnedest to do better each week with my playing.

You’ll do great— I know you will! Do we know how Leann is doing after Ike?
That’s exciting Jenni! I would die of fear if I had to do that. You are so awesome!
You’ll do a great job. If you need to practice you can use the piano at our house.
