Mallory Kane is a highly trained operative who works for a government security contractor in the dirtiest, most dangerous corners of the world. After successfully freeing a Chinese journalist held hostage, she is double crossed and left for dead by someone close to her in her own agency. Suddenly the target of skilled assassins who know her every move, Mallory must find the truth in order to stay alive.
Using her black-ops military training, she devises an ingenious–and dangerous–trap. But when things go haywire. Mallory realizes she’ll be killed in the blink of an eye unless she finds a way to turn the tables on her ruthless adversary.
While the story was somewhat unoriginal, the actors and action made up for it. And, I ended up really enjoying the movie.
The way it was filmed was unique and artsy. The fight scenes were in real time with no fancy special effects like those you see in the Bourne films. Some may think it’d make for a slow movie, but I thought it made the fights seem more real, especially since you could tell the actors were actually doing the fighting. From what I could tell, only one actor used a stunt double in the fighting scenes. (I’m sure stunt doubles were used in other scenes, but not while they were actually fighting.)
I also loved the music. It had a very 60s feel to it and it stopped each time a fighting scene began. It really added to the scenes and made them all the more exciting.
I thought the cast was well put together. I really enjoyed how they each brought their characters to life.
Spoiler: Show
For those of you concerned with the R rating, I honestly felt it didn’t deserve it. I’ve seen more PG-13 movies with more content concerns than I did with this movie. There’s only one F-word and hardly any other swearing at all. There’s no nudity, although there’s implied sex in one scene. The only thing I can think of that’d give it its R rating is the violence, but it’s not gory or very bloody. (View Content Advisory on IMDB for details.)
