This is almost the longest I’ve ever gone without posting something on my blog and I’m having withdrawals, but life has been extremely hectic for the past few weeks. I just haven’t had hardly any free time. Even though I’m extremely busy today, I needed to take time to vent so I feel better. Unfortunately, this post is going to be a vent, so I apologize in advance for the negativity. Thanks for listening … well, reading … anyway.
Work has been Hell for the past two weeks and will continue to be for the next three or four. :? As most of you know, I write training documentation for the software company I work for. Well, a new seminar season’s starting this week and I had to write the manuals for the seminars. I’ve been working on them for the past few months, but there always seems to be a horrible crunch time no matter how much work I get done before they’re due. This is usually because I have so much other stuff to do as well. For example:
- A new version of our software is being released next week, which means I have to help my team do everything necessary to make sure the documentation is updated with the new features of the software. My job is to update the in-office training manual with the new features and help with other odds and ends of the documentation.
- We’re also hosting our yearly trainer conference in two weeks, so we’ve had to get ready for that. For me, this means creating a course template for all courses to follow, creating the curriculum for the two courses I’m teaching at the conference, participating in rehearsals and trainings to get ready for the conference, and anything else my manager may need help with. Then, we’ll actually be at the conference from 7:00 am to 11:00 pm each day, which means no other work but the conference for the duration. The conference is March 16 to March 20. (On the upside, I do get to see a couple of my dearest friends during the conference, so I’m very happy about that. :D )
- I also have to update the user’s manual for our other software’s new version. The beta documentation for that’s due by March 26. Oh, did I mention this is my first time working on a user’s manual? I’ve always done the training documentation, which is a lot different, so I don’t really know what I’m doing. :?
To finish all my projects, not only have I been working my 40 hours at work, but I’ve also put in about ten plus hours at home over the past week. 8O Right now, I don’t feel like there’s an end in sight. As you can imagine, the Hell part of work comes into play because everything is due at the same time. *insert loud scream and pulling hair out here*
PS–I’m not the only one at work experiencing these time crunches. Almost everyone on my team is. I didn’t want you to think I’m getting a bum deal while everyone else isn’t.
(I’m singing you a song) “You will survive! You will survive!” Sing with me, I’m sure you know it too.
I’m sorry you are so crazy busy. At least it’s not like this everyday all year. It will end eventually then you can resurface to reality. I look forward to seeing you again then.
Jenni, I missed your posts. I’m sorry you’re having such a hard time at work lately. It’ll be nice in another month right?! I’ll be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers!
Thank you both for the words of encouragement. Thankfully this weekend has been low key. Yay! :D
You always succeed in getting everything done and FABULOUSLY well, so hang in there and I will pray for you! You are exceptionally good at your job and this will all soon be over!
