Friday’s Fab Five

Here are this week’s questions:

  1. Which new author have you discovered this year that is now on your auto buy list?
  2. Which author is in your TBR (to-be-read) list, but you haven’t actually read any of his/her books yet?
  3. What book do you regret giving/loaning to a friend that you never got back (or got back in a bad condition)?
  4. Name a favorite author that you read no matter what genre she/he writes.
  5. Name a favorite book you go back to time and again and won’t get rid of.

Here are my answers:

  1. Brandon Sanderson, even though I’ve only read one of his books so far.  He’s a fantastic writer and I look forward to reading his others.
  2. There are too many to count since my TBR list is over 800 books long.
  3. I’ve never had a problem with this and books.  The people I loan my more treasured books to have to go through a major screening process before I let them borrow them.  I don’t loan Twilight, New Moon, or Eclipse out to anyone because they’re signed, even though I’ll loan other signed books out to people.  I just experience separation anxiety when I loan my Twilight books to someone.  I experience a small form of separation anxiety when I loan my Harry Potter books to someone, too.
  4. Any one of my favorite authors would be included on this list: Kristin Cashore, Cassandra Clare, Suzanne Collins, Stephenie Meyer, Melanie Rawn, JK Rowling, and Maggie Stiefvater.
  5. Any one of my favorite books would be included on this list: Twilight Saga, the Harry Potter series, The Hunger Games, Catching Fire, the Mortal Instruments trilogy, Graceling, Fire, Shiver, The Dark Divine, The Host, The Dragon Prince trilogy, Dune, These is My Words, His Dark Materials trilogy, You Are Special, and Fox in Socks.  I just haven’t had a chance to read them over and over again because my TBR list is so long and I want to experience new things.

Hi Jenni! You can find my answers at http://ashweyreadsalot.wordpress.com/2010/07/23/fridays-fab-five-2/.

I’ve never heard of Melanie Rawn, but now I’m going to have to check her out!

  2. Jenni Elyse says:

She wrote The Dragon Prince trilogy and others on my TBR list. Her books are high fantasy with action, romance, adventure, betrayal, etc. I like them a lot!

  3. amber says:

you two are making my TBR list WAY TOO LONG! ;)

  4. Jenni Elyse says:

    Amber – Mwahahahahahaha!

  5. Violet says:

I still need to check out Brandon Sanderson’s books! And I haven’t read Melanie Rawn’s books either. So many fun books, so little time! We seriously need to start campaigning for a National Reading Week during which all other tasks and obligations are set aside in order to make some progress on our TBR lists. :) My Friday’s Fab Five answers are here.

  6. Jenni Elyse says:

Violet – I think a National Reading Week with all other responsibilities taken away during that time would be awesome!

Since my fine at the library is currently $28.00 (sucks only having one car…) and no budget $ to buy books…#5 is very applicable to me. I am currently reading the Mortal Instruments for the third time. And I love it, but I sure would like something new to read. I finished The Golden Compass and I actually liked it a lot. It was a little weird, but enjoyable. I can’t wait to read the other two. And Oh, I finally saw the time travelers wife..I want to talk to you about the book…

  8. Jenni Elyse says:

Aymee – I understand about the library fine. I had about a $28 one too. I like your subtle hint in there to remind me to bring books to you read. ;) I’ll remember next time!!! We’ll definitely have to talk about the book.
