Title: City of Bones
Author: Cassandra Clare
Series: The Mortal Instruments #1
Genre: Urban Fantasy Romance (YA)
When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder–much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It’s hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing–not even a smear of blood–to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?
This is Clary’s first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It’s also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace’s world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But, why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know….
I’ve had a lot of people recommend this trilogy to me, including Stephenie Meyer. I decided to use the gift card and money I got for my birthday to buy the trilogy. So far, it was a good choice!
I started reading City of Bones on Saturday morning. I haven’t been feeling well since Saturday morning due to a medicinal withdrawal so I’ve just been reading non-stop for the past two days. Also, the book is that good; I couldn’t put it down! It’s definitely earned a spot on my Favorites shelf. Hopefully, the rest of the trilogy is just as good.
City of Bones is very suspenseful. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. In fact, I’m still on the edge of my seat. There’s a twist at the end and I’m dying to know whether it’s true because it will affect so much in the series. I really want to start reading City of Ashes, the next book in the trilogy, but I’m afraid I won’t go to bed tonight if I start reading it now.

I’m sorry you’re not feeling well! Stink!!!
Hey, are you going to be lending this out? Can I have next dibs if you are? (you’ll get it back about 24 hours after I borrow it…)
Hope you feel better very soon!
OK, so here’s my question. Would it totally ruin the entire series to read the 2nd book first? It’s the only one at my library right now and I DYING for something to read!
Ali, I am willing to lend it out. However, someone already asked me. So, I’ll give you 2nd dibs, kay?
Rebecca, I don’t know because I haven’t read the other two books yet. But, I think it would because you’d miss how Clary finds the Shadow world and her interaction with Jace. Oh yeah, and, the twist.
